Spiced Rum 2:00 Fos Las (2/1 Bet365). Was bell backed on hurdles debut at Fontwell where she probably pulled away her chance early on, still ran well and looked a certain future winner. Did as well as could be expected against Sir Gino last time. Acts well on heavy (won by 11L on her last flat run on heavy). Gets the very useful weight for age allowance back against mares.
Should win but I can't pick my nose at the moment, so who knows.
This looks a weak race, the 2nd fav is up 6lb for winning by a neck last time, 3rd fav is 10 and pulled up last time and looks high in the weights anyway.
    2pts win 2/1 bet365
    P/L: -2.9 pts.

Hawaii Du Mestrivel 4:15 Uttox (8/1 bet365). Liked the look of this one on his return from 2 years off at Plumpton, where he was up there for a long time before dropping out quickly. Ran similar at Chepstow and over this CD. 1st run in a handicap and 1st time tongue strap today need to make a difference.
If he could run anywhere near his 2 point to point efforts (close up to 140 types) then he would win this. Could just as easily finish last if the tongue strap doesn't help.
    1pt win 8/1 bet365
    P/L: -0.9pts

Probably just isn't very good based on that. Might have another look if they go chasing over 3m.

Gateshead v Barnet So frustrating we didn't get the chance of getting a big price winner against Gateshead on Tuesday and whilst Barnet aren't as big a price hopefully they can beat them. A bit of a break will help Gateshead, but they clearly aren't going to be as good as they were before losing all their players. Barnet clearly just need to make sure they finish in the top 3 now as Chesterfield are well gone and they did lose to Oldham on Tuesday, but both goals were penalties and there wasn't much in it otherwise. Given what happened in the reverse fixture I do get the feeling Oldham are Barnet's bogey team this season. This does look a good chance for Barnet to bounce straight back though.   Banbury v Scarborough This would have been a max bet if Banbury hadn't sacked their manager on Thursday. I watched their game against Gloucester on Tuesday and they were awful. For a team to make us look half decent at the moment says it all and after managing to get an equaliser in the 66th minute they didn't actually manage to have another shot after that. Gloucester had some good chances as well to make it more than 2 and deserved the victory. Scarborough are now into 3rd and have been in good form and given Banbury can't win, especially at home, it should be an away win.   Buxton v Brackley Buxton were hopeless on Tuesday night losing 6-0 to Warrington and whilst they beat Chester last Saturday it was a game of few chances and they just happened to score one of those. Brackley have won 5 on the bounce and are looking pretty good at the moment so they should be shorter to beat Buxton.   Rushall v Curzon The home side losing their star striker to Southend is not going to help their cause to stay up and they host a Curzon side who are looking very good again after having a little blip a few weeks ago. To go to Kings Lynn and win 4-0 on Tuesday night was impressive.   Dartford v Weymouth Weymouth have only lost twice in their last 10 games and whilst they have drawn half of the other 8 I think they are value to beat a Dartford side who are not having a great season and don't have a manager at the moment.   Taunton v Aveley Time to back Aveley again as they have improved after their poor performances a few weeks ago. Weymouth beat Taunton on Tuesday and Taunton are suffering off the field at the moment with a winding up order against them. Their squad looks weak at the moment with plenty of players leaving. I didn't oppose them on Tuesday as I wondered if they might still be strong at home as they did make Yeovil work hard the other week, but Tuesday night gives me the feeling they will struggle at home now and Aveley are looking good right now.   Horsham v Potters Bar (Isthmian Premier) Potters Bar have treated us well and whilst I know they lost 3-0 to Lewes last time they did end up with just 9 men on the pitch. Horsham haven't won in 5 and whilst they have two good draws against Hornchurch and Enfield in their last 2 games, this is another tough one and we know Potters Bar are better than their league position.   Matlock v FCUM (Northern Premier) Like Rushall the home side have lost their star striker with Margotts going to Kings Lynn. He scored a goal a game and scored 2 of the 3 they put past Atherton last time. They are going to suffer badly with him gone and whilst FCUM aren't having their greatest season they are in good form having lost just 3 of their last 10. I thought they looked over priced.   Prices from 9pm Thursday   Barnet 2pts @ 6/4 with Paddy Power and Betfair (Coral are 8/5 and take up to Evs) Scarborough 4pts @ 4/5 with Skybet, Paddy Power, Betfair, Betfred and Bet365 (take up to 4/7) Brackley 3pts @ 8/5 with Skybet, Paddy Power, Betfair and Betfred (take up to 11/10) Curzon 1pt @ 7/5 with Skybet (take up to 6/5) Weymouth 1pt @ 14/5 with Paddy Power, Betfair and William Hill (Skybet are 3/1 and take up to 11/5) Aveley 1pt @ 7/5 with Paddy Power, William Hill, Betfair and Betfred (Skybet are 6/4 and take up to 6/5) Potters Bar 1pt @ 2/1 with Bet365 (take up to 7/4) FCUM 1pt @ 21/10 with Skybet and Betfred (take up to 7/4)

Cheltenham 1.15 A decent thirteen runner Premier Handicap has attracted thirteen chasers over a trip of 2M 4F 127 yards with the race having a wide open look to it. Venetia Williams saddles a brace of runners and it’s the Charlie Deutsch ridden Victtorini who takes my eye. He’s won two handicap chases at Ascot this season over 3M rising just 8lb and may not be too inconvenienced by the drop back in trip. His latest victory has been boosted already by subsequent victories for the third and eighth since and with extra places looks decent each way value.   VICTTORINO 1 point each way @ 7/1 bet365 1/5th 1234   Cheltenham 1.50 Six chasers line up for the latest renewal of the Grade 2, 3M 1 1/2F Paddy Power Cotswold Chase. Five of the six are carrying penalties and it’s a tightly knit contest where each of the sextet has a chance. Slight preference is for the Patrick Neville trained The Real Whacker who has an excellent record at the track, including a short head victory over Geri Colombe in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at the Festival last March. He showed plenty more than his re-appearance last time out in the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day when fourth with the third Allaho winning since to frank the form. His regular rider Sam Twiston-Davies is back in the saddle and he can run well in a tight race.   THE REAL WHACKER 1 point win @ 9/2 bet365   Doncaster 2.05 A field of six line up for this Yorkshire Rose Mares Hurdle run over 2M 128 yards. Willie Mullins has sent over two from his Closutton stables in Ireland in the shape of Gala Marceau, ridden by Danny Mullins and Ashroe Diamond ridden by Paddy Mullins. With question marks over the rest of the field they may fight out the finish with preference for Gala Marceau who was not far off the top of the juvenile hurdle pile last season and if straight enough can take this.   GALA MARCEAU 1 point win @ 15/8 bet365   Cheltenham 2.25 The re-arranged Grade 1 Clarence House Chase has attracted five chasers although unfortunately not El Fabiolo who stays in Ireland for the Dublin Racing Festival next weekend. That surely leaves the path open for Jonbon to continue his winning run (he’s now won twelve of his 14 runs under rules). He’s rated 8lb and upwards better than his quartet of opponents and can take this en route to a clash with El Fabiolo at Cheltenham in March although he will be at unbackable odds today obviously.   Doncaster 2.40 Ten line up for the Grade 2 Albert Bartlett River Don Novices’ Hurdle run over 3m 84 yards. It may be between the Paul Nicholls trained Welcom To Castries and Kim Bailey’s Destroytheevidence with slight preference for the latter who has the best piece of form in his locker with his 1 1/4L second to the promising Shangagh Bob in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham in December. A reproduction of that effort should see him go very close to taking this under David Bass for the team who struck with First Flow at Lingfield last weekend.   DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE 1 point win @ 4/1 BetVictor   Cheltenham 3.00 The Unibet Hurdle run over a distance of 2M 179 yards is up next with five hurdlers lining up. Last year’s top juvenile hurdler Lossiemouth is making her re-appearance having not been seen since winning at the Punchestown Festival last April. If she’s near enough ready she’ll be hard to beat with Paul Townend over to ride her. The other mare in the race, Love Envoi looks her biggest danger and any easing of the ground will be in her favour. A fit Lossiemouth should be winning this for master trainer Willie Mullins.   LOSSIEMOUTH 1 point win @ 5/6 William Hill   Doncaster 3.15 The day’s big handicap is the SBK Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase run over a trip of 3M. A near maximum field of eighteen have declared and the race, as one would expect, has a wide open look about it. My short list comprises of Emmet Mullins’s Sweet Will, Nick Kent’s Erne River and Christian Williams’s Cap Du Nord. Preference is for the latter who has been placed in this race, off of higher marks, the last three years. He, in typical Christian Williams style, has shown nothing this season but his mark has fallen to a mark 3lb lower than when beaten a length by Coopers Cross last year. Sure to have been aimed at this and sneaking in off bottom weight under Jack Tudor he looks the one to be with although I can’t resist a small each way saver with additional places on Nick Kent’s Erne River who bounced back to form over course and distance last time to bring his course figures to 1121.   CAP DU NORD 1 point each way @ 8/1 Betfred 1/5th 12345 ERNE RIVER 1/2 point each way @ 14/1 bet365 1/5th 123456   Cheltenham 3.35 The McCoy Contractors Cleeve Hurdle is run over 3M and we have a seven strong field this year. He maybe the joint oldest in the field but Emma Lavelle’s Paisley Park has an excellent record in this race having finished third last year and winning it three times. He showed last time in in the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot before Christmas that he’s lost none of his old zip when going down in a head bobbing finish to Crambo. He had both Dashel Drasher and Champ behind him that day and looks set to confirm the form and win this again at the age of twelve under Tom Bellamy.   PAISLEY PARK 1 point win @ 11/4 bet365

Gone for the draw in the Leeds v Norwich game. I like Leeds but you can't be playing Patrick Bamford in the Championship any more (cue Bamford hat-trick). I watched the Preston game and while they were the better team they weren't going to score the winner without the soft penalty. Norwich seem improved lately and you can get 5.6 on the draw on betfair.
