jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 Liga Leumit 10/11 Israel's Championship (Liga Leumit) opens today. Liga Leumit is a tough ecosystem, with no class difference between teams. The expansion of the Premier League (from 12 to 16) has left mostly dross, with poor management, financial problems and injuries affecting results more often than not. Exactly what makes for rich picking betting wise. After a two rounds regular league, each team being deducted half its points (odd points rounded upwards). Top six teams play one round league. The top two teams are promoted to the Premier league. The third plays a knock-out against 14th place in the Premier League. Then there's a similar bottom six, and a means nothing 7th-10th (mid) playoff. Top Six Hapoel Kfar Saba: Manager Tomer Kashtan led this young fixture one game from promotion, with excellent attacking style. Last season's strike force, Shlomi Azulai and Tal Mishali, have been cherry-picked and Central Defender Eliran Simon may go their way. Kfar Saba won't lack depth next season, though. Nine players were brought in, and the Kashtan formula might take them one step further. Ramat Hasharon: Guy Levi is the most decent and intelligent manager in Liga Leumit. In 2007 he took Israel U21 to European Championship finals, and is the only one to beat the hot seat in Beer Sheva (that he has promoted to the premier League in 08/09). Ramat Hasharon presented balanced, tactically astute football last season and will be even tougher to crack now, with eight new players, some with Premier league experience, bolstering the back and midfield. The front is sparse, but stability and organization are instrumental. Maccabi Herzliya:Owner Uriel Shyman single-mindedness has been matched only by the shambolic displays put on by his team in the last two season. The time has come to land the big Guns: National team assistant manager Moshe Sinai will conduct a star studded orchestra, but he is lacking in coaching experience and some players are past their peak. Herzliya may gain much from a good opening, and its front-line may prove lethal to many lesser teams. Beitar Shimshon: Beitar and Shimshon are two of Israel's fallen empires. Beitar Tel Aviv represented the (until the seventies) downtrodden Revisionists, i.e. right wing, movement and its hard-core image attracted many individualists. Shimshon Tel Aviv represented "Kerem HaTeymanim" a small neighbourhood between the main market and sea, 100% occupied by Jews of Yemeni decent. This hybrid, led by the modest and intelligent Arik Gilerovich, presents a coherent, hard working unit that will be tough to break. They've only been promoted last year and lack any following, but stranger things have happened. Nes Tziona: The club from the first Jewish city in Israel (1883) harbour memories of great days past (Nes Tziona spent the 66/68 in the Premier League) However after they got promoted last year they've been celebrated for a "don't wanne win" style of low scoring football that paradoxically led them very close last year. Nes Tziona lost Gaga Chkhetiani, its best scorer, and holding midfielder Ofir Hemo, but bought respectively well. Striker Elnatan Salami is class above the league, while Reginald Faria (St, Almere City) and Mozambique international Fernando Bila (MF, Famagusta) have brought much needed experience. If they hit the ground running and keep focused defensively they are half way there already. The sixth team will come from Rishon-Lezion, Hapoel Herzliya, and relegated Nazareth and Raanana, all will be reviewed later.
jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 Mid Table Rishon Lezion: This team bought shrewdly in the off-season. Manager Niso Yehezkel brought GK Aviran Dalal and MF Justin Zulu with him from Bnei Lod (no wonder he got hackled and spit on the other day on a friendly) and creative MF Dudu Avraham joined from Ramat Hasharon. Otherwise, the team got not much of a front line, and Yehezkel's inexperience may prove detrimental as the league wears on. Raanana: The relegated team lost its best player, MF Steven Cohen, and the rest will do for win some lose some, after the horrible season they had. Manager Eyal Lahman is known for his militaristic approach and Raanana may prove a tough nut. Hapoel Herzliya: Newly promoted Herzliya has gone for a number of talented youngsters from bigger fish. Chaim Ziskind (GK, Maccabi Haifa) Adir Dahan (CD, Maccabi tel Aviv) Shlomi hanuka (MF, Maccabi Haifa) Rif Mesika (MF, Netanya) and Alon Weisberg (St, Netanya) The man to put flesh on the bones is manager Beni Tabak, a celebrated past striker, and while this is ingenius , some games especially against top clubs might find them out of their depth. Nazareth: After the 0-7 thrashing from Hapoel Ramat Gan in the last match of 09/10 it turned out that Nazareth are seven and half million Shekels (2 milion Dollars) in the red, and promptly been deducted nine points. There's only the small matter of Nazareth flushing it on five-six Premier League players. Wonder where that money came from… Nazareth depends on its start more than anyone else (because of the deduction) but if things go according to plan this crew can reach top six playoffs. Their only ruin might be that slipshod style of management. Nazareth Ilit: The financial problems have been solved but had still took their toll. Nazareth Ilit lost its midfield: both Eric Nyarko (Ashkelon) and Lior Linder (Kfar Saba) have gone and acquisitions been mediocre at best. Manager Yaron Hochenboim is a survivor but that won't be enough for upper playoff. The bottom six next.
jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 The Bottom Six Hacoach Amidar/Ramat Gan: The thwarted union with Hapoel Ramat Gan have brought a late opening to the season. Hacoach's lost three of its most important players. Strikers Liron Diamant and Or Fishbin and Midfielder Kobi Hasan, with nothing in return. There still are some decent players but they'd be lucky to finish at mid table. Bnei Lod: The great survivors of Liga leumit. This team has also lost three important players, and got noob Naguan Grieb at the hot seat, But they still got two half-decent players up front . Maccabi Beer Sheva: Beer Sheva have fled last season by the skin of their teeth, but now they'll have to perform miracles. Nigerian striker Anthony Aviparker came in but that's all there is. Bat Yam: Financial problems have brought manager Doron maman's resignation. He came back eventually, only to find a bunch of anonymous guys. With the best players gone Bat Yam seems on their way to the National next season. Gat Al-Ahli: An unknown quantity. The only recognizable names are CD Anderson West (Maccabi Haifa) and Asi Avrahami (Hapoel Haifa). The team represents Um Al Fahem (population 45,000) and will probably use its momentum and big fan base to survive Araba: Araba are relegated to the National unless it produces $70,000 till Sunday afternoon. In that case it'll be probably replaced by Maccabi Ramat Hashikma.
jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 Liga Leumit Round-Up A lack of genuine firepower and the Israeli summer has done for the opening round of Liga Leumit. Nes Tziona and Kfar Saba got good wins (Nes Tziona've shown real class) and Bat Yam seems forlorn but we're probably bound to see more tight low scoring affairs till gaps open in the table. Bat Yam Vs Nes Tziona 0-2 Ramat Hsharon Vs Rishon Lezion 0-0 Beitar Shimshon Vs Raanana 0-0 Hapoel Herzliya Vs Nazareth Ilit 1-0 Maccabi Beer Sheva Vs Nazareth 1-1 Bnei Lod Vs Kfar Saba 0-1 I'll start posting tips after the League comes from the International break in the second week of September. jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 Liga Leumit Round-Up Such clear hierarchy has formed after the second round it got to unravel sooner rather than later. Ramat Hasharon took center stage with an impressive performance against strong Nes Tziona. Kfar Saba continue to rake in the points, and with Irakli Gipradze, Maccabi Herzliya got a genuine striker. Araba conceded six yesterday but if they'll be able to stay in the black (financially) somehow, they might stand a better chance than Bat Yam and Beer Sheva. Lod, Nazareth, and others will prove mercurial, but Gat Al-Ahli might be the "dark horse" of Liga Leumit. jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 A first dabble in Liga Leumit, I stress small stakes, as there're no Asian Handicaps, and this is a tough league. Beitar Shimshon Vs Nazareth Beitar got only one point from two games. But they're solid and organized against a quirky, if talented team. Beitar Shimshon 2.40 bet365 Bnei Lod Vs Maccabi Beer Sheva Two poor teams, but while Lod are well adapted (1-1 away to Nazareth) Beer Sheva are shorn of goals. jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 Liga Leumit Round-Up Bad start betting wise, with Liga Leumit showing its true nature to get the better of me. Last week's pecking order has been unsettled after four contenders trapped against smaller fry. Ramat Hasharon Vs Nazareth Ilit 2-1 Manager Guy Levi left Ramat Hasharon after wrangling with chairman Meir Izhaki, but it is still early to see consequences. Hapoel Herzliya Vs Raanana 0-0 The newly promoted Herzliya shows mettle against a top dog. Araba Vs Kfar Saba 0-0 An excellent result by embattled Araba against the No.1 team in the league. Gat Al-Ahli Vs Nes Tziona 0-0 The newcomer from Umm Al Fahm will be a tough nut to crack. Beitar Shimshon Vs Nazareth 0-1 The talented Nazareth take advantage of Beitar Shimshon's lack of firepower. Hacoach Vs Rishon Lezion 1-6 An unsuspecting Hacoach drubbed by the in form team at the moment. Bnei Lod Vs Maccabi Beer Sheva 1-2 Lod notches an important, bad loss to the worst team in the league. Bat Yam Vs Maccbi Herzliya 0-0 Bat Yam has signed two experienced strikers last week. But this excellent draw against Herzliya doesn't change much. This is not the first time Herzliya's struggled to score against enforced defenses, and might find its promotion contention jeopardized. jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 Maccabi Herzliya vs Ramat Hasharon An important game between two promotion contenders. Ramat Hasharon thrashed Hacoach 6-1 in midweek (League Cup) while Herzliya have hardly found the net. But Herzliya haven't conceded yet and its experienced strikers have the upper hand in such a tight game. Devise yourselves a -0.25 AH (there're no handicaps here) from half a stake Home Win 2.40 SJ/VC and half a stake a Herzliya DNB 1.73 SJ/VC. jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 Nazareth vs Araba If there's one game of which I can state the facts and let you decide for yourselves this is it. There's a rare odds gap between the local Toto and other bookies. In Israel Nazareth will go as far as 1.40 (Araba 5.00) Stan James and others will give you up to 2.00 for home win (3.60 away win) The locals presumably know what they're talking about. Nazareth beat Araba 3-1 (League Cup) on Tuesday. Araba has been haphazardly assembled in the last minute (after it already was on its way to the National) and duly conceded two drubbings at the opening matches. What with ten points deduction for financial misconduct (Nazareth was handled a nine points penalty, but this talented side will take it in its stride) Araba are slowly coming to their senses, though. And Nazareth mercurial nature warrent an Araba DNB 2.63 (Various) but you won't be faulted for thinking value is spread on the other side. jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 Hapoel Herzliya vs Nazareth Gat Al-Ahli vs Maccabi Herzliya Two inexplicably huge odds, whereby two solid, newly promoted, sides host (mostly on paper) bigger clubs. Hapoel Herzliya and Gat Al-Ahli are defensively minded teams, while Maccabi Herzliya have scored once in four games and Nazareth are inherently inconsistent. Maccabi Herzliya star-studded outfit took one point from last six which make Gat mightily riskier, but the team from Umm al-Fahm is not likely going to be interested. Hapoel Herzliya 4.00 Stan James Gat Al-Ahli 6.00 bwin/5.50 Stan James Covering both games with the draw will give you 3.05 Stan James and 4.52 bwin/4.25 Stan James respectively. jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 Liga Leumit round-up Two scuffles herald a six teams promotion contention, while Nazareth Ilit has its precarious finances putting it in a pickle, and Araba approaching quickly a point of no return. Except for Hapoel Herzliya and Gat Al-Ahli practically everyone is involved in some kind of struggle. Rishon Lezion vs Nes Ziona 0-1 Ramat Hasharon vs Raanana 1-1 The geographic proximity (Ramat Hasharon, Raanana, Kfar Saba and Herzliya are practically on the same street. As are Rishon Lezion and Nes Ziona) of most contenders make it even tighter. Gat Al-Ahli vs Maccabi Herzliya 1-2 Hapoel Herzliya vs Nazareth 4-1 Araba vs Lod 1-2 Hakoach vs Nazareth Ilit 3-0 Beitar Shimshon vs Beer Sheva 2-2 Close, but no cigar. jovinco
Re: Israel Championship (Liga Leumit) 2010/2011 Raanana vs Rishon Lezion Beitar Shimshon vs Bat Yam A stubborn (Raanana conceded one goal in seven games, Rison Lezion three) scrap between two unbeaten promotion contenders. The second feature two of the smaller fry, both on the mend after a horrible start. While no denying the speculative nature of Liga Leumit the Raanana vs Rishon Lezion Draw 3.13 VC and a Beitar Shimshon win 2.38 Stan James certainly offer good value.
