Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010

Absolutely no way is the thread a failure - check mine out!:rollin I think you do some really good write ups and as for analysis of a racecard, the results speak for themselves! If you wait until you're fully confident, it could be a long wait. I think you just have to accept that your always going to be learning at this game. Keep the winners flowing! K
Many Thanks for the encouragement Kithanga. :ok Seen as I'm getting some feedback, I will as of tommorrow ( Mon 19th April ) submit Profit / Loss on all selections with a breakdown for Turf & A/W. This is what I wanted to do in the first place, but with not following all my selections didnt want to complicate my thread. After some positive posts, you have swayed my mind. Also you are correct on the confidence side of the thread, That I'm not going to win / place every race and havr to live by my selections. Cheers for the Encouragement :ok Monday 19th April Selections to Follow

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010

Its up to you about the profit and loss mate' date=' its your thread afterall :ok[/quote'] Cheers Stu. Decided to show P/L in future ( starting from Monday 19th April ) following the staking plan I always follow so it makes it easier to work out for myself. £2.50 to win OR £2.50 E/W. Have never wandered away from these stakes as I dont like to bet to much If not really confident. ( Yet ) I will be sticking with the SP for ALL races unless otherwise stated. If a bookie is stated ( this means I'm having a bet ). Relevant bookie with also be added. Cheers. :hope

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Monday 19th April Pontefract 14:40 = Poor Handicap 12f race with limited form at correct distance to compare. Red Valerian Two is my pick of a poor bunch, Who with a drop in OR amd saddled with a jockey showing a credible 2010 return so for is followed. Pontefract 15:10 = Internationaldebut has 2, 2010 runs to date resulting in 2nd place in each, But saddled by a jockey showing a 30.77% placement return in his last 14 days stands out from the others for me. Pontefract 16:40 = Although no runs for 7 months, Steel Trade has some decent 2009 flat form that cannot be ignored. A drop in OR and a suited distance but a lower weight could be an issue. Windsor 17:10 = Nice looking handicap with Beat The Bell selected. Over 6f this horse has some good form ( but doesnt stand out ). Racing with a suited weight and a massive drop in OR, It has to be considered. Windsor 19:40 = Tight Handicap with a few capable runners involved. Septemberintherain stands out with a suited weight and distance, But seems to like the A/W alot. Could be unhinged by Calypso Star. Red Valerian Two - 2.5pts Win Internationaldebut - 2.5pts Win Steel Trade - 2.5pts E/W Beat The Bell - 2.5pts E/W Septemberintherain - 2.5pts Win 17.5pts staked, But no bets ( crap prices ). SP to count for each selection.

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Just another suggestion, most people use "Points" as there staking plans, its up to you entriely how much each pt = in monetary value so say if you wanted to make 1pt = £1 you would use 2.5pts and 2.5pts E/W. Its up to you though.

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Tuesday 20th April Brighton 19:10 - A mixture of form from Penang Cinta shows a capable horse over weight & distance if its in the mood. Has had a little sucess over this distance but looking at the basis of and inform trainer and a good jockey on board could ride this to a place. Folkestone 15:30 - Decent competitive handicap with Magical Speedfit selected. Previous course & distance winner and a beaten favourite, This horse has good form over distance & weight. Going is suited, But not to sure if draw suits. Looking for a place again. Kempton 16:25 - Not a fantastic looking handicap with little confidence looking at the form. Damietta has a drop in OR and a suited weight & preferred distance. Trainer looks in good form which is swaying my vote. Wolverhampton 14:40 - Previous course & distance winner Tri Chara is my choice for a place here. Although a hike in OR and a high weight, compared to rest of field this expierienced runner could find a place in a mediocre field. All selections 2.5pts E/W .... :hope

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Weds 21st April Catterick 15:10 = Seems to be a confusing card with this race. Many tipsters are backing the outsider but my thoughts are with Lord's Seat. Mediocre form and nothing to shout home about. Although distance, draw are in line, Weight seems to be an issue. If this horse gets a constent weight in its runs it struggles. Still worth a punt in a poor race. Catterick 16:15 = Rain is needed here to soften the ground for Casino Night. Has some decent 2009 flat form, but could become unhinged by the going. Everything taken into condsideration weight , distance , yard are all OK but going could be deciding factor. Catterick 17:25 = Slight rise in weight but a massive drop in OR over the last 6 months gives Tamarind Hill a fighting chance. Has some excellent 2009 form but nothing to compare on the turf. Everything else fits. Epsom 14:20 = The stand out from of Rocket Rob has caught my eye here. Although prefers a slightly higher weight, this horse cannot be discounted. Excellent 2009 form with a good background on same going makes this a contender. Epsom 14:55 = Good looking handicap race with Trip The Light taking my fancy here. Although top weighted and a hike on OR this horse is no slouch and is more than capable of making a name for itself today. Everything suits this run whether it be Class, Distance , Weight but a increase in OR doesnt make this an outsider. I think this has a very good chance of a win. Epsom 17:15 = I really like the looks of this race, 8f handicap with 2 or 3 runners capable of a in. Tuscan King has my vote with some of the best recent form I have seen. 15 career runs with 5 wins & 8 places only it's first 2 runs didnt bring him into a placement back in Oct 2009. No issue with weight , distance or OR but could be undone by running on the turf as all previous runs have been A/W. Lords Seat - 2.5pts E/W Casino Night - 2.5pts E/W Tamarind Hill - 2.5pts WIN Rocket Rob - 2.5pts WIN Trip the Light - 2.5pts WIN Tuscan King - 2.5pts WIN All Selections will be taking SP. Will also be looking at the evening races at Kempton. Selections to follow.

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Missed 1st two races so only going with this race. Kempton 21:20 = Good looking handicap that seems littered with decent form. Boho Chic has some good A/W form in 2010 so gets my vote here. Weight and distance suit, recent runs have been from a high draw so that continues in this race. LTO seemed to lose ground in final furlong but last run on this course resulted in a win with a steady start increasing tempo throughout. Just reading other results and always seems to there or thereabouts so :hope. 2.5pts Win

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Saturday 24th April Sandown 13:00 - Not a race that I would normally look at, But looking at the field each runner has quite a hike in weights since its last race. So we could be in for a suprise or two here. Halsion Chancer takes my vote but only for a place. Would probably prefer a shorter race and the hike in weight is not suited. But with some recent form that has to be noted, I think we have a chance with this. Although has been a regular on the A/W nothing else really suites ( Going , Weight ) but looking at the card, that is consistent for most of the runners. Sandown 13:40 = Tight Contest with some excellent entries. Although many will be looking at Paco Boy, I think Beacon Lodge, Confront & The Cheka have to be considered. The Cheka gets my vote. Although an increase in OR, weight going both suit and being saddled by K Fallon it's getting the nod from me. With 3 races to date finishing in 2 wins & a second place, this horse has not had a run for 9 months so might be worth a place only. Sandown 16:15 - Another tight affair here with Tranquil Tiger selected. Although this is probably my favourite Trainer / Jockey combo, I followed this horse a little last season and will be doing the same this. Weight & Distance both suit and likes the Going. This horse is also wearing blinkers which has been consistant with its last 11 races. Previous distance winner carrying some very good form, I will be looking for a win with this Halsion Chancer - 2.5pts E/W The Cheka - 2.5pts E/W Tranquil Tiger - 2.5pts WIN

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Saturday 24th April Leicester 13:55 - Have been following Beat The Bell recently but I'm Taking Lucky Redback to win here. Although trip could be on the short side, Weight is consistant with previous runs and Going will probably suit. After 17 months without a run Lucky Redback has returned in March 2010 with 3 runs resulting in 1Win , 1 Place and last race was just outside a place postition. Leicester 15:35 - Although and increase in OR and a Higher class race than previous runs, Spirit of Sharjah could be up for a place here. Nicely weighted but has a bit to do to overcome to very good runners in Alyarf & Light From Mars. Saddled by Dettori who seems to be piking up recently I would hope for a place here, I think a win would be pushing my luck. Lucky Redback - 2.5pts WIN Spirit of Sharjah - 2.5pts E/W

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Saturday 24th April Ripon 14:15 - 2 Runners have caught my eye here in Lewyn & Jack My Boy. Jack My Boy is suited to the going and nicely weighted but I'm taking Lewyn for glory. Although recent runs have been on the A/W, it does have previous turf form in 2009 that is respectful. A slight drop in weight but an increase in OR have Lewyn looking nicely placed for a run but could be in the shadow of Midnight Martini. With this in mind a placement would be accepted. Ripon 14:50 - Decent looking handicap race with Diamond Blade considered. Alot of factors seem to suit this horse, But looking at recent form, I will be going for a Win. Seems to prefer a middle draw, Weight to suit. Easterby's yard seems to be coming good in last 14 days with 7 wins & 11 places. So siding with Diamond Blade to take the glory. Lewyn - 2.5pts E/W Diamond Blade - 2.5pts WIN

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Saturday 24th April Wolverhampton 19:20 = Not alot to go off with my selection here. Val C has minimal decent form, But on further scrutinizing the racecard / form, If not placed then it's usually there or thereabouts. Looks nicely weighted for this race and needs a little luck if its going to break it's duck here. Probably best we can hope for is a place. Wolverhampton 21:20 = Good looking handicap race with two or three capable runners. Lyrical Intent gets the vote on current form alone. Although might prefer slightly less distance in this run, It still has to be considered. Been a slight fluctuation in weights recently but todays weight is suited. 2010 form is 3 wins from 4 races with the last race finishing 4th from 12 runners. Quite highly priced at time of posting ( 12/1 ) and now back at what seems to be his favoured course has to be considered. Val C - 2.5pts E/W Lyrical Intent - 2.5pts E/W

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Saturday 24th April Haydock 18:00 - Rio Mist seems the most likely runner to come away with honours here, So I'm going for the places hopefully. 2 runners have caught my eye, Athwaab & Il Forno. Both have excellent recent for with Athwaab's slightly better. Although combined runs for both have been mainly A/W, Both have suited weights, But another stand out stat for myself is Il Forno' jockey. JP Spencer has 38 runs in last 14 days resulting in 5 wins & 18 places ( 8 @ 2nd , 10 @ 3rd ). Really cannot decide so backing BOTH Athwaab & Il Forno for a place at worst. Haydock 18:35 - What looks a nicely competitive handicap, Pendragon is getting the nod here. Weight & Distance suit, But again it's the recent 2010 form that stands out. First 2010 race pulled up but followed by 3 wins then last race finished 4th out of 12 runners shows this is a decent prospect for this run. Although the 3, 2010 runs were on the A/W, The Going ( Good to Firm ) could be an issue. This horse seems to prefer Good to Soft on turf runs, SO will look for a place with this in mind. Haydock 19:05 - A large field for the fourth race in this card, Which seems could be highly contested with some very good entries within the field. The recent form from Off Chance cannot be overlooked and also the excellent form of Espero, But my choice is Ella Woodcock. Had some dednt runs on the A/W in the close season but it seems to be going back to what it prefers with this run in the form of the Going. Has half decent stats for Good to Firm with only the start of the 2009 season a little dicy. Ella Woodcock likes a longer race but seems to come good when 3/4 round the course in that sort of race So if raced properly, And opened at at the correct time could so this horse running home to glory. Also noted, Most of its wins or places have been from a low draw and runs from stall 3 today. Haydock 19:35 - My least confident pick of the day with Adam De Beaulieu followed. All previous career runs have been on the A/W, But with 6 career runs, resulting in No wins , 2 @ 2nd & 2 @ 3rd needs to be given a shot. Suited Weight & Distance but seems to struggle in the later stages of a race. Always seems to start well but filter out towards last furlong, So will look at a place with this dicy selection. Athwaab = 2.5pts E/W Il Forno = 2.5pts E/W Pendragon = 2.5pts E/W Ella Woodcock = 2.5pts E/W Adam De Beaulieu = 2.5pts E/W

Well Chuffed with today's results. Thought a couple what dropped were more inline to return than some that were placed. Suppose thats Horse Racing for You. 14 Selections, 3 Winners , 3 Placed.

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Sunday 25th April Bath 15:50 = Only one choice for me here and thats the runner that gave me a 25/1 winner a couple of weeks ago ( see earlier post ). Sherman McCoy is again very nicely weighted for this race and finds himself in great form at the moment. Going & distance not an issue, But just finding it hard to get away from this horse after its excellent run 2 weeks ago, Lets see if he can repeat the form. Bath 16:25 = Listed Fillies race where Gilt Edge Girl is getting the nod. Although an increase in the class of race that this filly is used to, It's carrer form really stands out will 11 runs and 10 places ( 3 as winner ). Although an increase in OR, Weight & distance suit nicely and the going to be to it's advantage here today. Cannot see any draw advantage so it seems we have a nice clean race where hopefully she can prevail. Bath 16:55 = 2 stand out here with Wanchai Whisper & Avonvalley my picks. Wanchai Whisper is suited in most aspects but all but 1 run has been on the A/W. So I'm siding with Avonvalley as my pick. Although prefers a slightly lower weight, It's running at same as in last race. Distance & Going should suit, But its the steady decrease in Or over a few runs that might just give this runner an edge. Bath 17:25 = Tight handicap to finish the day off with, With Bo McGinty my choice. It's hard to get away from this pick when you look at its previous from on the A/W and the average sort of form in the 2009 season, But it's the Trainer / Jockey pairing thats having so much success at present thats drawing my eye. Looks like it could just be coming into good form at just the right time as everything is suited to this horse today and just cannot see the red hot form of this yard at present deserting them today. Sherman McCoy - 2.5pts WIN Gilt Edge Girl - 2.5pts E/W Avonvalley - 2.5pts E/W Bo McGinty - 2.5pts WIN

Re: Philss_99's Flat Season Thread 2010 Sherman McCoy - 1st @ 10/3 :clap bit let down by the price Gilt Edge Girl - 1st @ 13/2 :nana happy with this one Avonvalley - 6th ( 9 runners ) :sad Bo McGinty - 3rd @ 7/1 :D in hindsight should have took a place. These sort of results can only breed confidence and I'm looking at tomorrow's card already. :ok
