Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December

Lets start the new month off with some winners :ok 13:00 Lingfield Mr Willis is a horse on the upgrade having won 4 of his last 5 runs. All of those have came at the track with his most recent victory coming 6 days ago over course and distance. This was his first run since April and he won in good style by flying home wide and winning by 1 and a half lengths. Is raised 6lbs for that but with his form at the track and the fact he is still progressing means he can easily shrug that off. Trainer is usually in good form in the winter months and also runs another course and distance winner in the race in Alfresco but he looks second string to Mr Willis. 1 pt win Mr Willis

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 12.30 Lingfield Plenty of these are potentially well handicapped on old form and anything returning to form could be dangerous. After the show has been in the duldrom recently but showed signs of life last time out over CD and has won off a mark of 74 and is now rated just 57 and doesn’t have a bad draw to come over from for a hold up horse. Waterloo duck would be of interest if market speaks positively having won a CD maiden having made all, didn’t get such an easy time up front last time out in handicap company but still ran respectively but that was in april hasn’t been seen since, aslong as he has trained on and is fit could go well. 0.25pt e/w after the show 1.00 Lingfield Mr willis has an impressive record at this course with 4 wins from 6 runs and won extremely well last time out last week and after a break and is likely to go well under a 6lb penalty, he is clearly well ahead of the handicapper at the moment and may take some pinning back. 1pt win mr willis 2.00 Lingfield The Tatling showed some real promise last time out in handicap, is not best treated on weights but none the less if in same fettle should run well enough to certainly contend for a place, Ebraam is likely to take some stopping on the form he showed in listed company behind jaconet recently on these terms but the fast pace that is likely upfront could well suit the tatling better. 0.5pt e/w the tatling (if smaller than 5/1 just a 0.25pt win) 3.00 Lingfield Can Can Star is a useful sort on the aw with a cracking record with 20 runs with 5 wins and 2 2nds and 5 3rds and looked back to something of his best when 3rd behind a godolphin hot pot drops another 1lb in the handicap and a decent enough apprentice claiming 7lb, has run over CD 8 times and won 4 and although still running of a career high mark should give his running as usual. 0.5pt e/w can can star 11/2 bet365

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 15:00 Lingfield Three course and distance winners line up for this 8 runner race and I will be siding with two of those in Basra and Can Can Star. Basra seems to keep his best form for this course and distance having won over it once and placed over it twice in 6 attempts. His last win was the one over course and distance which came way back in January off a mark of 80. Is 1lb lower than that run today and Spencer rides again. Has also placed here off a mark of 82. Is the trainers only horse at the meeting which can be seen as a positive. Despite this he was well held by my other selection Can Can Star at Bath on his last outing when finishing 6th (Can Can Star in 4th) who I believe will be back in the winning enclosure soon having run consistently all year. He has 4 course and distance wins to his name, the most recent coming off a mark of 75 back in February. Runs off 80 today but has a 7lb claimer on board so he is well weighted to go close especially since he ran a good 3rd LTO in a Class 2 handicap over course and distance off a mark of 82 (5lb claimer on board). Debra England knows the horse well having won on him once and placed on him 3 times this year. Again trainers only horse at the meeting. 0.75pt win Basra @ 8/1 (Bet 365 - BOG) 1 pt win Can Can Star @ 11/2 (Bet 365 - BOG)

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December Suzi Spends 3.00 Lingfield Has had one race here over this distance and won. That was a class 3 handicap off 81, the horse reportedly "quickened nicely" and the trainer was hoping this may be a listed winner at some point. Still only 4 year old and has been running on turf off 84,83, and 81 over 10f. Dropped back in trip recently for 2 races then stepped back up to 10f at Kempton but ran poorly to finish 10th of 12. The horse has 3 wins, 3 seconds and 3 thirds from 12 races on the all weather and has 2 wins 2 seconds and a 3rd from 6 races over this 10f trip. Also likes to be held up and will probably be delivered late along with Basra. There are 8 runners but no recognised front runner, previous comments vary from held up to tracked leaders and raced midfield but this possible lack of pace will go against many of these horses that like to come late from off the pace. Still think Suzi Spends is quite progressive and worth a bet at around 8-1.

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 2.30 Lingfield Lord Deevert has been hinting that he is coming to hand again and he has been building up his fitness with a couple of runs since being given a break since June. Last time out he ran a credible fifth in difficult circumstances, and with him edging back down in the handicap he is starting to look dangerously well handicapped running off 60 today. His course and distance win last October came off 2 lb higher and with Jack Dean knowing this horse well he is my bet in this race. 8/1 Bet 365, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/5 odds).

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 1.00 Lingfield Trafalgar Square and Alfresco have clashed twice recently, both times the former has finished ahead of the latter. Over 7f here in October Michael Attwater's runner was giving 3 lbs to Alfresco and finished approximately one length ahead. They again met over 7f when when Alfresco was last seen, with John Best's runner giving 2 lb to Trafalgar Square and finishing two lengths adrift of him back in 9th. On those formlines alone I think Trafalgar Square could be more competitive than their 9 pt discrepancy in the market suggests, and although Alfresco is well in on old form, more so than Trafalgar Square, I think the last named has been underestimated here. He was put up 2 lbs for his Lingfield second in October but I noted his race here on the 5th November as one in which hold up types were inconvenienced, and am thus ignoring his 8th of 10. For his last run he was slowly into stride but soon put in touch and I think he is happier being held up. Pegasus Dancer and Avertis should ensure the race is run at a proper pace today and off a mark 2 lb lower than his last win, in this grade, I am taking a chance on Trafalgar Square at the price. 16/1 Stan James, 0.5 pt EW (3 places, 1/5 odds).

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 2.30: Makshoof 0.5pts e/w @ current 12/1 Former Kevin Ryan horse who this time last year was competing from marks in the 80's. Due to some pretty dire form has dropped down to current rating of only 55. Showed definite signs of improvement LTO over C&D when only beaten 3 and a half lengths into 4th from 1lb higher. If the horse has turned a corner then could be every chance of making a mockery of current rating from decent draw and has place claims in an open looking race today.

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December Lingfield 12:30 - After The Show (Each-Way) @ 8/1 SJ (bog) Went close LTO finishing 4th in a similar race, was slowly into stride that day from stall 7 (same stall today), runs off the same terms here and should be there or thereabouts again. Lingfield 13:00 - Mr Willis (win) @ 2.38 SJ (bog) Been in great form at Lingfield winning his last four races, won again last week and just keeps improving with every run, hard to see the the 3yo being defeated and can rack up win number 5 at Lingfield. Lingfield 14:30 - Lord Deevert (Each-Way) @ 9.00 Ladbrokes This one just finished behind After The Show in a bunched finish LTO and maybe worth another chance here in similar company, has threatened to win a race a couple of times and should go in soon. Lingfield 15:00 - Suzi Spends (Each-Way) @ 10.00 >365 (bog) Course and distance winner here, was well beaten LTO at Kempton but willing to forget that run as she was never really in the race, has been a decent handicapper in the last couple of years and can win a race off this mark.

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December I feel today is going to be a JP Spencer day today, hes very hit and miss but when on form he really is extremely good. 12:30 Green Velvet Has won over course and distance twice before and likes the ground today aswell. With Sanders booked today he will be the advantage to take the win. Green Velvet 2pt win @ 9/2 (Ladbrokes) 13.00 - Mr Willis Won over Course and distance @ lingfield in the last 4 races here, an impressive 80% win rate this yearand its hard to see this one being beaten! im also having a little each way on Esteem machine, on paper the horse isnt great and hasn't won over this distance but with Spencer on board lets call it a good feeling so ill have a small bit on it. Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 2.00 - Glamorous Spirit - Win Ebraam will be massively odds-on for the Claimer having run 2nd in a Listed race last time, but I'm looking for reasons to oppose him and I've found a couple ! First off he's not sure to be suited the return to 5 furlongs - all his recent good form has been over 6. He's had 13 goes at 5F since he last won at the trip Secondly this will be his 4th run in under a month and at least two of those previous efforts, including the Listed race, have been all out sprints. Could he bounce ? Glamorous Spirit is a tremendous little filly who comes here a fresh horse after 3 months off, she's a 'blast from the gates, catch me if you can' type, perfectly suited to running around a bend in a small field. She's got a good draw in 3 with a non runner and a slowcoach inside her, so no problem getting the rail So as i see it - can Ebraam get going quickly enough over 5F to catch her or will it all be over by the time he gets his creaky old legs into top gear ?

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 13.00 Bet On Tonight's Football At totesport.com Handicap (Class 4) 1m John Best's three year old Mr Willis will probably be a hot favorite in this and a banker for many in those placepots.Has progressed 20lb since diverting on to the surface and was a winner over CD last time out six days ago when pulling away in the final furlong to record what looked an easy victory. The trainer also has Alfresco in this and has won four times around here from eighteen starts and finished behind Ravi River (Beaten Yesterday) over 7f here back in October and was staying on extremely strongly under Andy Culhane that day. Robert Winston takes over today who has ridden him twice with out landing a blow, so might be the pace maker if getting infont to make it a good clip for Mr Willis. Mr Willis : 2pt Win @ 11/8 Coral

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 13.30 Best Odds Guaranteed At Totesport.com Nursery Handicap (Class 5) 1m I saw a misjudged ride by Darryll Holland yesterday on Follow My Dream leaving the horse far to much to do in the closing stages to go down by a short head. He could make amends here today on Mark Tompkin's Edward Whymper. Looks like the only one that has shown sign's of improvement this year in this field and has seemed to like the wintering months on form.Since September he has only finished out of the frame once which came back in November when finishing fifth over 7f here, but looked that a step up in trip was needed next time out when staying on inside the closing stages. Recently ran at Kempton when finishing three parts of a length behind Lisahane Bog and had every chance to nick the race inside the final furlong until mowed down in the final strides. Back to Lingfield today and a new jockey on board in Darryll and should be the one to beat. Any dangers in the field could come from Brian Meehan's New Christmas who has been heavily backed all morning to land this event. He finished fifth on All Weather debut to Hudoo rom the Goldophin camp and he looks a good yardstick for his second run on the surface. I am caught in two minds here and which way i go will probably go wrong, but even though the favorite looks to have a good chance it is the fact that Darryll Holland on board who is not the greatest jusge of pace these days, as for the other selection and danger Eddie Ahern rides and stands out on jockey bookings in my opinion and New Christmas should go well now stepping up to 8f on sand. New Christmas : 1pt Win @ 4/1 Betfair

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 14.00 Bigger 'win Only' Odds At Totesport.com Claiming Stakes (Class 6) 5f Quiet a competative claimer this and with Total Impact now out of the race who i thought would of been the likely winner, this gives a bigger chance to Ebraam who is going to be very short here. Michael Murphy has a 22% strike rate around here in the last year and the Red Ransom gelding diverted back to the All Weather and has shown good form. Won a Claimer at Wolverhampton off a 2lb lower mark beating Thunder Bay by 8L and had the race won from the four furlong pole when sent on by amateur Andrew Heffernan. A new apprentice on board today in Barry Adams who is probably getting the chance to ride his first winner on the All Weather, and this just looks a steering job in effect. Not every favorite is a dead cert and is there anything in the field that can actually give him a race here. Ron Harris's Glamorous Spirit looks set for the forecast bid but with eight runners there might be value out there in this poor field. The Tatling probably looks set for third and looks the each way bet in the race, but again age is catching up on the old timer who is now 12 years young so i am going to be bold here and play an out of form trainer and a horse that has not shown much.Peter Grayson's yard has been in the duldrums for over a year and has only recorded one win in 187 sent out a shocking tale for a trainer that use to do so well on these tracks. He saddle's Especially Special here and has been competing over further, but was a winner over the optimum trip at Great Leighs as a 2yr old and won that day at 25/1 beating Andrew Balding's hotpot that day Brief Encounter. Has only run once in a claimer when finishing a close fourth at Kempton back in October when off a 6lb higher mark and was making late work over today's trip that day. so is capable on his day to get a place here at a massive price. Especially Special : 1/2pt e/w @ 33/1 Ladbrokes

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 14.30 Pam Elliott's Birthday Surprise Handicap (Div 2) (Class 6) 6f Patrick Morris's Ask Jenny is probably going to be the punters latch on here undr Jamie Spencer. She beat Pockets Pick over course and distance last time out by a head when in receipt of 4lb in the weights. Has to concede that all important pound today and the two will no doubt be as close again if the handicapper has got it right. She also had Lord Deevert beaten that day when in receipt of 3lb and they meet on the same terms. Only up 3lb for that win and she looks the one to be on here. Now we have to look to see if any dangers will come out of the pack. John Best has already had a winner on the card and has Bollywood Style taking her place here. She was a winner over 7f here back in february when beating Shaded Edge by half a length and is only up 3lb for that win. She also ran well on re-apperance last month when finishing second to Dynamo Dave here at Lingfield, Outer Hebrides was back in seventh that day and ran well on the card this afternoon to record a third. But the worry is that she wa beaten by a horse that looked extremely well handciapped that day off 45 so maybe excuses can be made for her this afternoon. I have to be honest i am trying to get Ask Jenny beaten here and will side with John Best's runner in Bollywood Syle, purely on the assumption that she was beaten last time out by a well handicapped runner and even though is dropping back in trip for today's run she has every chance here. Bollywood Style : 1pt Win @ 4.8 Betfair

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 15.00 Wound Healing Centre Handicap (Class 4) 1m 2f Probably the toughest race on the card here and David Evan's yard sends out another improver in Hurakan who won over 8f here back in early November when beating Enshare by half a length and the latter has a rating of 80 which would be an excellent yardstick here. He gets the trip no problem after running second behind Satwa Gold in a claimer back in October when off a mark of 77 and on paper looks the one they all have to beat in this. Tony Carroll's Can Can Star has three years on Hurakan and was a good third over course and distance back in mid November going down by 3L when of a 1lb higher mark and that was a far more superior race than today's encounter. Debra England claims a big 7lb for Can Can Star but still has to give 2lb away to Hurakan. Cry Alot Boy would not be out of this either and was beaten into second over course and distance at rhe beginning of November when going dwon by a length and a quarter when of a 2lb lower mark. This trip is probably on the far side for Mongan's runner and looks set for a place at best. Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 15.30 Bet Live In Play At Totesport.com Amateur Riders Handicap (Class 6) 2m Oh no you say an apprentice race over 2m to finish off the card this afternoon and three stand out against the field here. Little Carmela from the Stewart Williams yard has had her last two runs here at Lingfield, was fourth over 13f here back in October when going down by just over 2L and really with out being to hypocritical to much of Saleem Golam he did not put the horse into the race earlier enough as was staying on well that day behind Bell Island and the the horse's infront of him either 10-16lb rated higher. Court Princess for Aussie born trainer George Baker makes her debut here at Lingfield and still a maiden after twelve starts she showed some kind of form at Kempton when finishing fourth over today's trip and was staying on well in the closing stages to go down by 3L when off a mark of 57. She can only improve on that run and is one for the short list. Isle De Maurice comes here for the inform Gary Moore yard, Joshua gets the call and looks no worse after his horrific accident yesteray in the bumper race after clashing with the rails. He has not shown much in recent runs here on the flat, infact three duck eggs. He was staying on well in the closing stage's over 2m on slow going here back in October undr Patt Dobbs. Joshua is a strong rider and for such a young age is very capable in these race's to get the best out of a horse and has big claims. Over looking the three runners i have it between Little Carmella who looks well handicapped in this and Isle De Maurice. i personally cannot split the pair and i do find interesting that Joshua Moore has took the courage to ride this after a bad rail clash yesterday and is worth his 3lb claim. Little Carmella : 1pt Win @ 3.1 Betfair Isle De Maurice : 1.5pt Win @ 4/1 Betfair

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December 15:30 Lingfield ; Adage was once rated at 60 and did OK at that mark last October, where it finished 2nd losing by a head on the all-weather at Wolverhampton. Had a couple of promising runs, especially it's 3rd at Kempton behind Star of Pompey which was a run that went into my notebook, as a horse that could win again. Has been doing poorly since then but it's mark has slowly dropped and perhaps this could be its time to strike. Risk taken on the rider, but the price is decent enough for me to give it a go. 0.5pt EW @ 12/1 Bet365

Re: Lingfield - Tuesday 1st December Some nice winners today in here - Mr Willis, Ask Jenny and Glamourous Spirit, would have been a nice treble that. Couple of each way bets came in as well with places in Lord Deevert and Makshoof. Think I covered it all. Thought Basra was very unlcuky not to win and should win soon, ran on strongly at the end and looked the likely winner but was just caught on the line.
