Re: Ratings System Although a long time since I was last on here I think you are doing the right thing and my main reason for saying that is you have worked from THE MASSEY CUSTOM REPORTS and I bet you found something that looked very good indeed on paper. The main problem with HIS ratings prior to 2007 is the are computer generated from is NEW way of doing things. I had a very good system that worked very similar to yours but since 2007 they have not performed well although this year its back in profit but nothing like before. Since 2007 you know they were given and if you can find things from then till now you have a far better chance of them continuing. Their are still some very good systems that work using is ratings providing you are selective in its approach T%M

Thanks for the information, it's greatly appreciated. Care to share any system that work for you currently? I shall have a play with the custom reports from 2007 onwards and try and pick out a successful system from there.

TOP RATED 2006 TILL NOW JULY AUG ONLY NOT WEDNESDAYS [NOT LOGICAL BUT VERY BAD DAY] NOT 1M-4F / 1M-5F AND 1M-6F / 1M-7F JUMPS AND FLAT CLASS 4 5 6 AND 7 ONLY 8-9 RUNNERS ONLY EVERY % USED FOR HORSES RUN IN LAST 90 DAYS 1ST 2ND AND 3RD FAVS ONLY INCLUDES JTS NO 6 TH LB1 RACE NOT 8 TO 10 LBS ABOVE AVERAGE 1 TO 9 DAYS ONLY SINCE LAST RACE SINCE 2006 TILL NOW 106 /56 WINS ROI 181.9% 2009 SOFAR 19/9 ROI 140.1% Although not many qualifiers its shown decent profits every year. The downside is NON RUNNERS as the custom reports only show the results for 8/9 runner races but if a 10 or a 11 runner race had 2 n/runnners they would show up as 9 runner races in the results and this is the main prob with the system as you could miss a race or an origanal 8/9 runner race would be void if 2 non runners came along. This is another selective approach but in this case we use the top 5 rated TOP 5 NO JOINTS 2006 TILL NOW HANDICAPS ONLY 2 UP TO 13 RUNNER FIELDS ALL % LAST 90 DAYS NOTHING ABOVE 14/1 NOT RUN TWICE LAST B1 RACE [NO OTHERS] MUST HAVE HAD 1 RUN IN LAST 12 MONTHS 2006 TILL NOW 161/55 ROI 154.9% 2009 SOFAR 38/11 ROI 111% another 1 with not many qualifiers but if you find a few like this then you do end up with a decent amount of selections. This one although not doing to well this year sofar may be the right time as it does a lot better as the year goes on In this case we are dealing with 3yr olds in older races [not 3ry old races] TOP RATED NOT JAN FEB OR NOV NOT 2M / 2M 1F RACES FLAT AND AW NOT 20 OR MORE RUNNERS RACE TYPE ALL OTHERS ONLY NOT ASCOT REDCAR SANDOWN 70% AND ABOVE LAST 90 DAYS [NO OTHERS] 3 YR OLDS ONLY 6 RUNS OR MORE LAST 12 MONTHS [NO OTHERS] NO RIDES IN LAST 14 DAYS [JOCKEYS] 2006 71/24 ROI 130.7% 2008 74/26 ROI 133.6% 2008 96 /35 ROI 123.5% 2009 32/6 ROI 47.8% As you can see this year is not doing very well but you must realise this is more for later in the year and SEP OCT AND DEC have far more runners and this could do just as good as previous years but may not. I tend to look at everything and in many cases use up to top 5 rated. On the flat he has about a 25% s/rate for is top rated and out of those 36% that win are favs and if these are removed you have around a 14% strike rate from the rest so if you think about this logically you have very little to work with if just using TOP RATED.
