Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event Rousso Rolls We caught up to this hand on the river. With the board reading jh.gif6h.gif5d.gif9c.gif7s.gif, Vanessa Rousso's opponent check-called her bet of 5,000 on the river. Rousso showed kh.gif8h.gif for the missed flush draw turned runner-runner straight. It was good as her opponent mucked. Rousso is now sitting on a stack of about 33,000. Sherwood Prefer a Different River Rob Sherwood, holding jh.gifjs.gif, got all of his chips in the middle with the board showing 6d.gifqh.gifqd.gif2h.gif and got called by a player with as.gifkd.gif. "Come on King! Ace!" said Sherwood's opponent, and his wish was granted as a kc.gif fell on the end. Sherwood is out.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event Hansen Makes Super-Flush Thor Hansen and Eric Koskas pushed their short stacks into the middle before the flop with Hansen's ac.gifkc.gif trailing the kd.gifkh.gif of Koskas. However, the board ran out 10c.gif2c.gifjc.gif7c.gif6c.gif and seven clubs indeed make a flush, as Koskas is sent to the rail. Hansen is now sitting comfortably again with 33,000 chips. Set Over Set = Busto Jerome Ogrodzki must have liked his chances when he got all of his chips in the middle on a 10s.gif5s.gifda.gif board holding 5c.gif5d.gif and Ron Adams called. But Adams had the middle set, with 10h.gif10c.gif, and the case five was nowhere to be found for Ogrodzki. He is out of the tournament and his chips have padded Adams' stack to 61,000.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event Two's Company...Four's A Good Time! John Duthie was overheard to be discussing dinner plans with his friendly massage therapist and in between some flirtatious joking he appeared keen to accept the invitation to join her at dinner. The therapist then commented that she was going to leave early to avoid the dinner rush, but John said he had to play out the final twenty minutes of play. That is until the therapist said that there were going to be two other therapists joining them, which prompted John to jump out of his seat and jokingly run for the exit! Rare Day 1 Tables of Death Lee Watkinson is now sitting on the right of Alex Kravchenko in a little final table reunion from last year. Watkinson finished eighth in the 2007 Main Event while Kravchenko finished fourth. Also looking deathly are Tables 5 and 8 in the Orange section. David Grey and Steve Zolotow are seated together on Table 5, while Peter "Nordberg" Feldman was recently moved to Erik Seidel's right on Table 8.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event 486ed1ea0216a.jpg No $12 million this year for Jamie Gold. Better Than Gold 2006 Main Event winner Jamie Gold is out of the tournament. He moved all in preflop for 2,700 from the small blind with kh.gifqs.gif. Pat Pezzin snap-called from the big blind with qh.gifqc.gif. "Look what I ran into," Gold said disbelievingly. Gold couldn't come up with anything that beat a pair of queens when the board came out 7h.gif7d.gif4h.gifjs.gif6d.gif. He shook the hand of every player at the table, wished them all good luck, picked up his bag and headed for the exit from the Amazon Room. The player in the 4-seat turned to Pezzin after the hand and said, "Jamie's mother is over there, you know. She's gonna want to know who you are because you just busted her son." "I don't care," replied Pezzin, drawing some smiles and laughter from the rest of the table as he stacked up his 51,000 chips.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event

Knocked Down on All Fours Huge roar from across the room just now as we had an all-in on the river with the board showing 4d.gifkh.gifqc.gifqd.gif4c.gif. The one who was covered showed 4h.gif4s.gif for quad fours. His opponent turned over qs.gifqh.gif for quad queens.
this is pretty much as sick as it gets.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event 486ed36a6b2dc.jpg Cricketer Shane Warne-- one of many sunglass lovers in the Amazon Room The Sunglass Hut Here at PokerNews, we strive to bring you the most up-to-date, scientifically verified information in the poker world. During a recent lull in the action, we conducted an investigation to help answer one of the WSOP's most burning questions. How many players are wearing sunglasses? Based on a sample size of 40 tables, approximately 2.45 players per table have chosen to shield their eyes from the glare of the lights and the gazes of their opponents. That's about 315 players, or 27 percent of the field. Again, these numbers are highly accurate and scientifically calculated.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event 486ed49973c99.jpg "He has kings?! Say it ain't so!" Jabberjaw Is Out Humberto "The Shark" Brenes won't have to worry about asking his toy sharks for advice any longer. He got all of his chips in the middle with pocket queens and was called by a player with pocket kings. Nobody improved. Brenes is chum in the water.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event Phillip Hilm Send a Player Home We caught up to this hand on the flop. With the board reading 8c.gif5d.gif4d.gif, Phillip Hilm bet 1,100 from late position and got a call from his opponent in the cutoff seat. The turn came the 8d.gif and Hilm checked. The cutoff moved all in and Hilm made the call. The players showed: Hilm: kd.gif7d.gif Opponent: qd.gif10d.gif Hilm had his opponent drawing dead and the 7s.gif on the river was meaningless. After the hand, Hilm is up to about 54,000 chips. Full Blown Kitchen Sink Greg Mueller is in for the long haul. If he needs to stay at a table and play for fourteen days straight he will. He's come prepared for it anyway as in a pile in front of him he has a packet of Starburst, Skittles (sour & original), Twizzlers, Mentos, Gum, a watch, a set of keys, lollies, money in a clip, sunglasses, an MP3 player and of course a few all important poker chips.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event Marc Goodwin Eliminated Marc Goodwin just joined the ranks of players who won't see Day 2. Goodwin got the last of his chips in the middle holding 10d.gif9d.gif against the ac.gifqc.gif of Chris Bell. The board ran out 5h.gif5c.gif4c.gif10c.gifjd.gif and Bell's nut flush was enough to bust Goodwin and take his stack to just shy of 55,000.

Ross Boatman moved all in for just over 9,000 from the big blind and Georgiou made the call. The players showed: Georgiou: as.gifqs.gif Boatman: ac.gif3c.gif Boatman was dominated from start to finish as the board ran out kh.gif7s.gif2c.gifjh.gif10d.gif. Georgiou climbed to just over 36,000 on the hand and sent Boatman to the rail.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event Phillip Hilm Triples Up After falling all the way down to just 3,625 in chips, Phillip Hilm reraised all in from the small blind for his whole stack. He got action from the under-the-gun player who had opened for a raise, as well as from the small blind. The big blind player bet on the turn, prompting a fold from the initial raiser. The big blind flipped up qs.gifqh.gif but that was no match for Hilm's as.gifah.gif. The js.gif7d.gif5h.gif3s.gif2s.gif board helped neither player and Hilm tripled up to just over 11,000.

Another player folded and the small blind announced he was all in. Warne made the call and his qs.gif10s.gif had out-flopped his opponent's ah.gifkc.gif. Gammelgard: as.gifjd.gif Antonius: jh.gif6h.gif Antonius was out-kicked and desperately needed a six. Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event Day 1b Concludes Day 1b of the Main Event started much like a major sporting event would, with the singing of the national anthem, followed by an opening speech from the reigning Main Event Champion Jerry Yang. Today was not just the start of the Day 1b of the Main Event, but also Independence Day. Not only Americans but players of all nationalities celebrated and honored their national heritage today. 1,158 players started today's field. Pros and amateurs alike came out to take their shot at a potential world title. Among those whose journey ended abruptly were Daniel Negreanu, Ted Forrest, Dewey Tomko, Greg Raymer, Jamie Gold, and Humberto Brenes. The apparent chip leader for Day 1b is Ben Sarnoff. Brian Schaedlich is right on his heels, followed by Atlantic City pro Nick Caltabiano, Robert Mizrachi, Rob Eckstut, and Marc Karam. Other players of note include Barny Boatman, Markus Golser, Hoyt Corkins, and Patrik Antonius. In an attempt to improve on last years finish Hal Lubarsky has made a very strong Day 1b start and hopes to make another deep run in this year's Main Event. Updated chip counts will be posted later tonight. Day 1c will commence tomorrow at 12 p.m. PDT with another large field looking to take their first steps to this year's Main Event bracelet. Stay tuned to PokerNews to follow all of the exciting action.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event Day 1c Begins at Noon Shuffle Up and Deal After the usual reminders regarding not taking chips off the table, avoiding excessive celebration, and other rules of play, country recording star Andy Griggs came on to perform his new song "It's All About the Money," accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. "Contrary to that song, it's all about the bracelet, too... and tradition," said WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. He then introduced a new WSOP tradition, the awarding of final table jackets to everyone who made a final table at this summer's series. Tournament Director Jack Effel ended the preliminaries by following another tradition, ordering the dealers to "Shuffle up and deal!" Good Luck Keith !

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event Townsend Outflops Opponent We caught up with the hand on the turn, with the board reading 5c.gif6c.gifjc.gif3d.gif and Brian Townsend made it 5,800 to go after his opponent checked. His opponent called and the river brought the 4c.gif. Townsend's opponent went all-in for his remaining 10,000 and Townsend insta-called showing ac.gif8c.gif for the flopped nut flush while his opponent turned over qs.gifjs.gif for top pair. After the hand, Townsend is up to 40,000. Sing of Happy... Not Sad A middle position player raised to 300 and David Singer made the call from the big blind. The flop was 7h.gif4h.gif2d.gif. Singer led out for 750 and the MP player called. The turn was the 4d.gif and both players checked. The river was the 2h.gif. Singer bet 2,000 and his opponent called. Singer rolled over 9h.gif10h.gif for the flush and picked up a nice pot to start the day.

Re: Live reporting for WSOP Main Event Farha Dashing Dreams We pick up the action on the flop in a hand between Sam Farha and an unknown player. There is about 900 in the pot already, and the board shows 3h.gif6d.gif3c.gif. With Farha in position, he sees his opponent bet out 650 chips and makes the call. The turn comes the 4h.gif. The bettor checks, and Farha comes out with a bet of 2,500. The player announces, "Raise," and makes it 6,500 to play; Farha calls. The river brings the ah.gif. Check to Farha again, and he moves all in for a little less than 14,000 chips. His opponent goes into the tank for a few minutes before making the all in call, putting himself at risk of elimination. He flips over kd.gifkh.gif, but it's no good against Farha and his as.gif3s.gif. With his full house, the pro and his unlit cigarette notch an early knockout, chipping up to 42,000.
