morlspin
Re: WSOP $50,000 HORSE Day 1 Play To Begin Soon The players have all started to gather here in the Amazon Room. The orange quadrant of the room is where this prestigious event is being held and the staff here have spread the tables out to give the players and media a bit more room than normal. At this point, the scene here resembles more of a meet and greet or poker hall of fame reunion. The best of the best and walking around, mingling, doing interviews and surveying their table draws. There is currently 115 players registered with event and climbing by the minute. Jack Effell is making his announcements and the cards should be in the air soon

morlspin
Re: WSOP $50,000 HORSE Day 1 "We're on the Way" Apparently Allen Cunningham, Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson, and Patrik Antonius were all running late because they were caught up playing a cash game at another casino. Apparently they phoned a member of the media to let them know they were on their way. Lederer and Ferguson have since arrived and we should expect Cunningham and Antonius at any time. morlspin
Re: WSOP $50,000 HORSE Day 1 Rough Start for Tom Schneider Playing razz in a hand with Bryan Colin, Tom Schneider called Colin through sixth street with a board reading . Colin was showing , and when the final card was dealt Bryan check-called Schneider's bet. Colin showed for an 8-6-5-4-A and Schneider tossed his cards in the muck. morlspin
Re: WSOP $50,000 HORSE Day 1 Table-Side Dining Some get massages at the table. Some listen to their iPods. Some go for the noise-cancelling headphones. Others... eat. While most of the field seems to have taken care of feeding themselves prior to the start of the tournament, a few prefer to fuel themselves while playing cards. One of those players is David Singer, who is currently enjoying a take-out container full of a very healthy-looking veggie stir-fry. Phil Hellmuth... we'll, he's not so much of a BYO kind of guy. We just spotted a Harrah's employee calling up one of the property's restaurants to request delivery of a meal for the Poker Brat. "It's for Phil Hellmuth... it's like, pasta with chicken and tomato sauce with veggies on the side. Same thing he got last time. Just tell the chef it's for Hellmuth and he'll know what I'm taking about."

Chiu showed to Ly's and Chiu was betting all the way to sixth street, when he decided to check-call Ly's bet. Chiu chose to check-call again when the last card was dealt, and showed to win the pot with a higher two-pair (aces and threes) than Ly's for jacks and sevens. morlspin
Re: WSOP $50,000 HORSE Day 1 Prize Pool and Payout Information Released With registration closed, the official numbers are in. As we mentioned earlier, 148 players (the same number as last year) entered this event. There will be a total of 16 places paid with 16th place taking home $124,320. The winner of the event will leave with $1,989,120. It's worth noting that the distribution of the prize pool has changed a bit from last year. As we mentioned in the introduction post, Freddy Deeb took home $2,276,832 for his victory last year. This year the payouts have been flattened a bit, thereby spreading more money amongst the lower finishers.
