I often select more than one horse in a race and occasionally I get the odd 1-2 or even 1-2-3. I've had some lovely F/C and T/C touches in the past but it was always something I treated as an added bonus. I didn't always play the casts just because I selected 2/3 horses, I played it every now and again. For a bit of fun if you like, a bonus. I never looked at it as a real area where you could make regular profits if concentrated on. Until now that is. The first race I played in this season resulted in a 1676/1 T/C and as I result I've been placing more F/T/C's this season and have been staking more than usual on them. I'm well in front, actually without them my personal P/L would be very different this season. This prompted me to do a little research. A lot of the time in my posts I mention that I am having a F/C or T/C comb but from now on I personaly will be playing the casts whenever I select more than one in a race. Here are my findings based on every race where I've selected more than one horse. F/C I think the fairest way to stake would be 1pt PER race, therefore two selections would simply be 0.5pt RFC, three selections would be a 0.165pt FC comb, four selection would be a 0.08pt FC comb and so on. Selections : 42 Winners : 9 S/R : 21% Staked : 42pts Returned : 60.71pts (CSF) Returned : 65.44pts (Exactas) Another finding is that the value lies with exactas. 6 paying better. Profits would be greater had I staked more for a comb, but I believe that the stake should be the same no matter what the selection - it's the fairest way. (Winning bets were Don't Panic/Benandonner, Best One/Punching, Lucayan Dancer/Princess Cocoa, Irish Quest/Brave Hawk, Benandonner/Regal Parade, Diriculous/Lethal, Miss Marauser/Montrachet, Ansells Pride/Regal Parade, Cape Hawk/Nice To Know) T/C Staking in exactly the same way but obviously races only qualify if I select three or more in a T/C race. Selections : 14 Winners : 2 S/R : 14% Staked : 14pts Returned : 147.57pts (Winning bets were Don't Panic/Benandonner/Trafalgar Square, Ansells Pride/Regal Parade/Cha Cha Cha) I will run this seperately to my singles record - like I say it'll be based on 1pt for F/C's per race and 1pt for T/C's per race. That's if no one objects obviously. Of course I won't be back-dating these figures (even though I backed-dated a LOSS for my singles thread). I know it's a bit bold to attempt to make casting pay, but I think it can be done - this may just be a little purple patch and there may be long losing runs, however I'm confident I can maintain this sort of S/R throughout the year - at least this won't be copied! :lol
