Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March Should be another interesting weekend. Slightly favour McLaren for pace in quali and Ferrari in the race but BMW could do a similar job on Ferrari in qualifying. Not taking much before practice, mianly done to the weather as it's been raining all week and the forecast isn't great. Again wouldn't want to be taking any short prices! VETTEL to finish in the points @ 4.33 Ladbrokes. Just taking this one before practice as it is plain wrong. Most places go 2.75 or 3.00 which is pretty fair. Toro Rosso are using last years car for the first car of the season and it looks to be pretty quick. Vettel showed in qualifying in Australia that he is very fast by making it to Q3 and definately has the legs on team mate Bourdais who showed the car is good in the race too. Vettel is also very good in the wet which is a bonus considering all the weather forecasts!

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March My patriotism has come out again this weekend with bets on Webber for pole (80), win (160) and podium (15). He's previously qualified on the front row of Sepang before in a Jaguar and also did quite well in a Williams a couple years back, where he qualified 4th and was on target for a podium before crashing out. Crashing out is what Webber seems to do best, but this is a track in which he quite well suited and I'm hoping that the pace that was on display in practice last week will be displayed again this weekend.

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March Webber had an engine failiure in practice but not sure if he needs it replacing:unsure. Struggling to come up with anything before qualifying, keep thinking it's going to rain and be mental:\. Will have another look later when there might be some more markets and maybe a better weather forecast:lol.

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March These are all for the race.... Without Ferrari/McLaren drivers ALONSO E/W(1/5, 1,2,3) @ 8.00 Ladbrokes. I thought about backing Alonso to finish on the podium, but this seems like a slightly better option. In Australia, Alonso had problems in qualifying otherwise would have been well into the top 10. In the race, he was incredibly unlucky twice ending up at the back of the train (how come ITV coverage never mentioned this?) behind the safety car and still came away with a quality 4th place. He showed he can mix it with the McLaren of Kovalienen although he was lucky to get back ahead of the Finn. He's showed some reasonable pace in practice here, and has been excellent at the track before. If it rains, I'd really fancy him for a big weekend, and I'd like him in the rain in a straight fight against the BMWs. A couple of others are a concern, but Alonso is class and barring a problem I see him safely collecting E/W returns here. BUTTON to finish in the points @ 2.75 Betfred. Honda showed surprise pace in Australia after struggling all through winter testing, and practice here seems to show that it is for real. button was 4th in second practice on what was very likely a low fuel run, but he was also 9th in first practice and looks to have genuine top 10 pace. In the rain would also fancy Button strongly, so this looks like a solid price. PIQUET to finish in the points @ 5.00 Bet365. Piquet had a disaster in Melbourne, but that was mainly down to a lack of running and a race engineer with no experience! Renault seem to be focussing on him more in this race, as they need a solid team mate for Alonso and we can already see the improvement. He did the most running of anyone in practice and was extremely close to matching Alonso in both sessions. No diea what he's like in the rain, but if it turns into another race of attrition this price is an insult to the car and quality of the driver.

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March LAY HAMILTON Qualifying @ 2.9 Betfair. I think this is a solid price to lay at. We saw in Australia BMW very strong in qualifying and would expect similar here. Ferrari also look to have a lot better pace here, and although they are struggling to get one lap pace they could go a little lighter as they won't want to be stuck behind a BMW. Also in the wet, much more random and this price would look very short. Also if it is wet expect the top guys to go a little heavier to be flexible in the race, and someone like Trulli or Rosberg may go really light for the glory of pole. I think the top 2 in the market are very short for qualifying, I think Hamilton should be around 3.5 and Kimi around 4.00.

Wish I'd grabbed that while it was available' date=' looks rather handy! Only thing to worry about is the reliability of that engine![/quote'] ...and the brakes:lol:lol. A lot of the cars look pretty unreliable early in the season, just have to put your money down and hope for the best:hope

Was hoping his qualifying record here would see him competitive but not to be. Red Bull have to convince the FIA to let them run still after Couldthard's suspension failure yesterday. Would love a wet race, they're always quite entertaining viewing.

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March OK Im going for Massa (pole) 4/1 Was looking good in the morning run of free practice and a nice price to pinch pole from Lewis here Nuber of Classified Drivers under 13.5 @ 1/1 This is looking like it could be a wet GP and this could mean we see our first wet race of the season without electronic driver aids.. :hope:loon:lol Football Tipper

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March KUBICA to finish on the podium @ 5.00 Totesport. Starting a rock solid 4th after the McLarens demotion. Said after qualifying that he sacrificed quali pace for a race set up. Was very unlucky in Australia and can make amends here. Would favour him over Heidfeld especially as he's started ahead. Not sure about the McLarens tearing through the top 10, there pace in quali was average and especially Hamilton didn't look hooked up. If it rains, he's a driver I'd fancy and should be very close to hitting the podium.

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March LAY RAIKKONEN @ 2.30 Betfair. My last bet for the race, and this seems plenty short enough to lay. Massa took pole with quite a margin, so people are assuming Massa must be a lot lighter than Kimi. But I'm not sure about this, I think Kimi really made a mess of Q3 and they'll only be 1 or 2 laps apart. At the start, Kimi is on the dirty side of the track and Massa should be able to keep his lead. I think Kimi should be more worried about the (probably light) Toyota of Trulli and the very fast BMWs. If he slips up and ends up behind any of them, then Massa should be able to pull out a gap quickly which will give him a big edge. If it's dry, then Massa is very good at lights-to-flag wins, and this will be a great chance for him to put in another on a track he seems to excel at. If it's wet, then this is an extremely short price in the first wet race without TC and engine braking. Also, Ferrari have had a lot of reliability problems, so it all adds up to this being a very short price. Personally, I'd go Massa 2.75 and Kimi 3.2 with all the randomness around this race. Very happy with my portfolio of bets for this race, just need a little bit of luck:hope

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March

Event Malaysian GP
Selection F Alonso Points Finish
Strength 10/10
Date 22/03/2008
Bookmaker/Price Betfair @ 1.70 (Back)
Reasoning For this bet to be successful, Alonso needs to finish in the Top 8. Assumming both Ferrari's and McLarens get points finishes, Alonso needs to occupy 1 of the other 4 positions. He has 2 Saubers, 1 Red Bull and a Toyota in front of him in the grid. He had a great performance last week and showed he was capable of beating these other drivers and he will be desperate to porve he is capable of finishing in the points consistently.

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March

Event Malaysian GP
Selection F Alonso (w/o Big 4) (Each-Way)
Strength 5/10
Date 22/03/2008
Bookmaker/Price Stan James @ 7.50 (Back)
Reasoning If you take out the Big 4, Alonso would currently be lying 5th, and there are 3 places needed for this bet. This means he has to pass just 2 of the others to make a profit. He showed great pace last week and probably deserved a podium finish. He was up there with the Big 4 and showed he had the beating of the Saubers/Red Bulls etc. For that reason, I feel he is a great bet here to finish Top 3 w/o the Big 4

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March

Event F1 Malaysian GP
Selection F Massa 1st Lap Leader
Strength 10/10
Date 22/03/2008
Bookmaker/Price Betfair @ 1.24 (Back)
Reasoning A ridiculous short price for this one, but I think Massa has to be a certainty here. He starts off on the best part of the track and I dont think Raikkonen will want to jeopardise his teams chances by seriously challenging Massa in the 1st turn. After that, I expect Massa to hold on until at least after the 1st lap.

Re: Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix 22nd-23rd March

Event F1 Malaysian GP
Selection Ferrari - Winning Car
Strength 10/10
Date 22/03/2008
Bookmaker/Price Betfair @ 1.23 (Back)
Reasoning Another seriously short price, but considering they occupy the 1st 2 places on the grid, it looks a foregone conclusion that 1 of them win. Hamilton and Kovalainen are well back in the grid and I expect the 2 to pull clear early on. After that, I cant see anyone catching them.
