Just 1 outright for me. 2pts ew S.Hendry to win Welsh Open 33/1 Stan James Stephen Hendry looked ok in the Malta Cup and with those matches under his belt he could well come to Newport and play some good stuff. He's maintained all season that he's playing well in practice and if that's the case then he'll come good in one of these tournaments soon. Looking at his draw and the seeds in his quarter are Graeme Dott, Stephen Lee and Ryan Day so there's nothing there that would worry Stephen Hendry if he's on form. Mark Allen is a talented play and could be a non seeded concern but Hendry looks to have a nice path to the semis where depending on his opponent there we can trade out if we need to so Hendry is my pick for success this week.

I'll take 2 on Monday. 10pts D.Harold to beat R.Lawler 4/6 Boylesports Dave Harold's a solid player who is often tough to beat and while Rod Lawler knows his way around a snooker table, Harold should just be too good for him. They're both similar players, neither score that heavily and both play pretty good safety but for me the overriding difference is that Harold has the ability to score well when he gets the chance. Both these guys have been around the block though and although it won't be pretty to watch, I think the Stoke Potter will prevail here. 10pts N.Bond to beat M.Judge 11/10 Boylesports Nigel Bond is another very solid player and he's had some decent results in the last couple of years to make people remember he can still play this game. Michael Judge is also solid but the thing with him is consistency isn't his strong point. He can be fantastic one tournament and atrocious the next. I always think Judge is most fallible to good match players which Bond is. When players go for their shots and leave Judge with chances he'll take advantage but when players get on top of him he can crumble. Bond's problem recently is his scoring but if he has his scoring boots on here, his safety is usually of a decent standard to suggest he'll beat Michael Judge.

Re: Snooker: Welsh Open hello Mcculloch to beat Henry 1.51 pinnacle 6/10 Ian is solid matchplayer lefty can perform good cueaction... he likes bigger standard than best of 9 but think he will beat Henry.. Mcculloch isnt big breakbuider but as i said is good gritty matchplayer and he has good result this year...played solid in Aberdeen in best of 9.. Henry has poor results he won Issara Kachaiwong 5:4 i NI-trophy and than lost to Parrot 2:5....has been beaten by Wallace, Selt or Van Hove Just think that Ian is much better player and sholud overplay Henry... He has much more to offer and tactically is strong and has experience on big level under his belt..on big format big stakes...best of 9....6/10 good luck

Re: Snooker: Welsh Open Outrights: Cope 40/1 2 pts e.w and 10/1 2 pts to win his quarter. Really sprung to attention when making two finals last season which was some achievement for the attacking youngster especially considering the vast amount of games he had to play. He had a good run at the UK this year when he reached the q/f, beating the World Champion on route and has already come through the China qualification recently so form cant be too bad. Looking at the draw he faces Michie in game 1 before it gets tougher; Robertson, O'sullivan in his quarter. However Robertson despite better results in Malta does not have recent ranking tournament form, you are never quite sure what Ronnie turns up and anything can happen in short format games. Cope could have a decent run this week. Allen 50/1 2 pts e.w and 7/1 2 pts to win his quarter. Poorest quarter imo. Dott I do not think is completely on top of his game, Lee despite a good Masters run also seems to be lacking a bit of confidence, Day seemed to be playing better earlier this season and Hendry is not the force of old and it must be said Allen has a good record against him from memory, certainly beat him in the worlds and the UK so a potential last 16 match should not scare him and neither should Gilbert in round one. He has good form this season from a semi in Northern Ireland and recently qualified for China. Plus he and Cope indeed did not have what may have been the slight distraction of Malta this week.

Re: Snooker: Welsh Open After a fairly succesful malta cup profit wise i'm hoping to keep it up in this one. I am so glad theres no draws in this aswell! Liking the 3 tips for tommorows games. O'sullivan 8/11 for 1st quater also, only worrying about robertson really there. Any opinions on hamilton vs higginson?

Re: Snooker: Welsh Open Ok on to tommorows matches ROBERTSON vs Cope 4/6 Not a bad price here, i think robertson will win this without too much pressure on him. cope struggled today only just beating michie 5 4 and robertson will just be too good for him, he won't cope... ;) FU vs gunnell @ 2/5, Always liked fu and this is nailed on for me and useful in maybe a double with i'm looking at maybe stevens?, Fu is just too strong.

Re: Snooker: Welsh Open I'll go with two on Tuesday. I was tempted by Allen to beat Day but he didn't really play that well today and Day had a load of matches last week and is at home here and also Robertson to beat Cope who also didn't play well today but even though he looked better in Malta, I still can't bring myself to back Robertson just yet. I'll settle for 2 safer looking ones. 10pts D.Dale to beat A.McManus 8/13 Boylesports Dominic Dale is having a great season. He's already won the Shanghai Masters and he was unlucky not to progress to the semi finals in Malta last week where his only defeat was to Ding Junhui. The match practice he got over there though should be vital and should give him enough form to see off Angles McManus here. McManus is sliding down the rankings alarmingly and while he's a tough, battle hardened player his form is poor and Dale's scoring power is much better. The spaceman is at home in this event and I think he'll move into the 2nd round with a win in this match. 10pts M.King to beat S.Davis 8/11 Bet365 Mark King played well on Monday to see off a tricky opponent in Andrew Norman 5-1. He did nothing special but the main thing for King is that he got a match under his belt. Steve Davis didn't go to Malta last week and lost his 1st match in the Masters last month so he hasn't got many matches under his belt and the extra match for King should mean he plays the better here. Whenever you play Steve Davis you have to be able to play safety and take chances and King can do both and although 8/11 isn't the best price, I fancy King to win this.

Re: Snooker: Welsh Open DALE @ 1.61 totesport. Dale again showed good form last week in Malta and should come here with quite a bit of confidence. McManus hasn't showed much form for a few years and at this point I see there being quite a gap between these two. At home Dale should get a comfortable victory. TRUMP @ 1.85 Centrebet. Swail was awful in Malta and looks opposable against most players. This is the first event of the season Trump has qualified for so I expect a big effort from him to get the win. Not sure about Swails motivation at this stage so I'm taking Trump to get the win.

Re: Snooker: Welsh Open Fu v Gunnel over 7.5 1.893 pinnacle 3/10 Marco enyoy season of his life...he is playing good for a while now and keep high standard which was the problem for him before.. Fu like to play with "big" names in snooker he produced finest matches with Higgo and Ronnie in aberdeen(while struggeld with Greene) Gunnel is solid matchplayer can score big breaks not top player but if there will be chanses he might take them.. Based on Fu-s matches in past and with current form.....i dont think that he will whitewash Gunnel and see tight match ... good luck

Re: Snooker: Welsh Open Mcculloch to beat Murphy 3.220 pinnacle 1/10 Just want to try something on felling Murphy just Won Malta whitewash Dohrety(poor cueaction in final thouhg) but played well in all his matches... in today snooker it is very difficult to repeat such perfomances..he is doing that for a while now( the most constant player) but now he won something and situation is little different After his first title this year he is going to match a gritty player Ian won Lawler 5:1 didnt play well ( 2 stolen frames) he had many chanses and wasted them...but i know that he is a good matchplay can score heavily Call me a bad punter...but i must try with this bet good luck

Re: Snooker: Welsh Open Allen 5/4 10 pts Pretty tight contest on paper between two of the more promising players on the circuit looking to be established top 16 players. Allen as I said earlier has solid form to his name this season and whilst Day started the season strongly, of late his results have not been superb although he did ok in Malta in an event that I am not sure has massive revelance. Allen beat Day in his home event earlier this season and although Day will want revenge on his home patch, Allen having come through a tight one yesterday, may prevent that. Cope 11/8 10 pts Again as I highlighted earlier, Cope is a player going places. He made 2 ranking finals last year, losing the Grand Prix to Robertson actually and this season he destroyed Higgins on route to a UK quarter. Ok beating Michie 5-4 yesterday on paper is not inspiring but to come through a tight game at the early stage of a tournament is not always a bad thing and I cant say a few wins in Malta have turned me to say the defending champ is in anything like last years form. Judge 7/5 10 pts Came from 3-1 down to beat Bond 5-4 so his confidence will be pretty good and that cant really be said for Dott of late. He again had the odd performance in malta but in ranking tournaments since Shanghai he has been poor. Judge has had a couple of decentish runs this year and also won his opening game in the WC qualifiers so he cant be playing badly and he might be overpriced. Trump 17/20 10 pts Very highly talked of player and showed a lot of promise and raw talent when playing Murphy in round 1 at last years Crucible having played many matches to get there. Results early in this season have not been outstanding but recently won matches 10-4 and 10-2 to put himself in with a chance of qualifying for Sheffield again and therefore his form cant be that bad. Swail actually started the year decently but he was not there at all in Malta and either took it as a holiday or has hit poor form. Either way I will take the youngster to book a date with Ronnie.
