SelectionPennetta

Date07/01/2008
Bookmaker/PriceLadbrokes @ 2.25 (Back)
Reasoning50/50 match for me.Both girls played already against each other and Radwanska won after third set tie break. This is first game in the new season for Radwanska while Pennetta already played two matches at Gold Coast last week. She won against Bacsinszky and losed in second round to Safina after three set match.I can say that her form is rather good when about Agnieszka form I can't say much :) Pennetta had really good end of the previous season and I believe that she kept her good form from that period of time.Worth a shot.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney

No prices are jumping out at me' date=' but I would take a Gasquet x Chela x Querry x Ferrer fourfold at 2.17[/quote'] Because Gasquet is playing againsta poor Andreev who just couldn't seem to find any rhytm in his last match. Ferrer and Chela are playing against lowly ranked big outsiders and and just bumping up the price of the bet and Querry is steadily improving and can take out a non-motivated Mayer.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney Going pretty small on these, quite tired tonight, not really feeling it.... Dokic @ 1.57 Ladbrokes. Dokic!!! I was a massive fan of Jelena back in the day and it's awesome to see her back in a WTA event! She came through qualifying well, dominating her last two matches including against the No 1 seed in qualifying Meusberger. Here she has a really good draw for the first round and a great chance of a win. Muller has had an awful 6 months. Since reaching the final of an ITF event where she was the No 1 seed she's gone 2-12 and one of those wins was against a 16 year old Korean wildcard who hasn't played since. Muller lost to Pin last week only picking up 4 games so her form doesn't look to have improved. I'm biased here, and probably not great value, but I just want to bet on this match:D. O Rochus @ 1.77. Rochus was whipped by Murray last week, but his main problems were on serve and that seemed to get better as the match went on. He has a great record here having reached a final and a semi and I think he can still play some decent stuff. I saw Berrer last week against ToJo and wasn't too impressed. He's very hit and miss and this looks a bad match up for him. Rochus will get enough balls back to force him into errors and he'll have to have an inspired day to get through I feel. Lay Grosjean @ 1.61. Easy play to make here. Grosjean was in serious decline last year apart from one crazy week in Lyon and he doesn't appear to be too good this year either. I know Spadea played pretty well last week but I still think that's a bad loss. Luczak at home is dangerous and he seemed to be playing pretty well last week. His style and ability to play longer points should work well here, as Grosjeans unforced errors have been a problem in the past year. Lopez @ 2.24. Both these fellas seemed to improve in the second half of last year which makes this an interesting contest. Both Spanish lefties who have quite aggressive games. Out of the two, I've always preferred Lopez, and I'm going for him in this one. Verdasco had the slightly better results last year but I like Lopez in the match up. H2H is 2-1 to Lopez all a while ago.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney Hi guys, following picks to start the new week: WTA TOUR, HOBART DOKIC TO D MULLER @ 1.57 at ladbrokes Dokic with 3 very strong wins in qualifiers vs. Muller who has no good results outside clay courts. WTA TOUR, HOBART HARKLEROAD TO D SHVEDOVA @ 1.62 at bet365 Harkleroad, who had a very strong end of 2007, will have too much consistency on a relatively slow courts. WTA TOUR, HOBART GALLOVITS TO D BRIANTI @ 1.5 at ladbrokes Brianti is out of form. Gallovits with 3 strong qualifying rounds. ATP TOUR, SYDNEY TSONGA TO D SEPPI @ 1.45 at pinnacle Tsonga, who had a breakout season last year is a SF last week in Adelaide is a potential top 20 player this year. Just too much attacking power against a defensive Seppi.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney Dudi Sela - Julien Benneteau Benneteau is capable of the best as the worst. 2007 was one difficle year for him, not sure that he begins 2008 well. In front of an opponent in full confidence he could have difficulties. Sela had finishes 2007 with 9 victories on his last 10 matches. Dudi Sela @2.44 at Pinnacles

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney Jose Statham (NZL) - Albert Montanes (ESP) Albert Montanes (27 years, 46th world) is a part of his specialists of Clay surface who play only exceptionally on Hard: 31 matches since 2003 is 11 % of his matches, 8 victories for 23 defeats. His game is slow and misses cruelly power. Last year on this surface he had toiled to beat one no663 world. In brief if he is there it is because there are no tournaments on Clay at the moment, as this week when he lost in the 1st tour against Tursunov. Jose Statham (20 years, 561th world) is going to play for the 1st time a tournament ATP. It thanks to Wild Card. This match thus dresses a particular importance for him as far as it takes place at him in front of his public. Naturally the distance from classification is enormous between 2 players but the young person José is on the ascending slope: he won 300 places in one year. It is also its favorite surface and the motivation will be stronger at him. We saw this week with the stranger Sirianni what a very motivated player could make on his native ground in front of players not necessarily prepared well in this beginning of year. It was on new year's eve, igor either had a party to get to or was still drunk from christmas. bad match-up for gasquet this one as the head to head shows. andreev is value here at around 3.3 and/or to win at least a set at a tad under even money. good luck if you do play but I think in general accumulators are not the way to go and especially in the week before a slam with questionable motivation among the top players.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney Hi guys, Following picks for the next 2 days: ATP TOUR, SYDNEY KOUBEK TO D MOYA @ 2.6 at pinnacle Moya must be very tired after a 4 hour SF match vs. Nadal in Chennai. Nadal, who is 10 years younger and much fitter lost to Youzhny 6:0, 6:1 in chennai final after that match. ATP TOUR, AUKLAND MAYER TO D CHELA @ 2.97 at bwin No reason why Chela should be a favorite in this match. Chela played 6 matches last week last week in a Hopman Cup (singles and doubles) and had difficulties with 344 ranked King-Turner in the 1st round here. Mayer, who has a 2:1 H2H lead over Chela, looked good in defeating Quarrey in the 1st round today. ATP TOUR, SYDNEY VERDASCO TO D GROSJEAN @ 1.6-1.7 (approximate odds, no odds released yet by most bookies) Veteran Grosjean is under his best by a long way.

True, but in my eyes it was a given (Gasquet over Andreev), rather pissed at Querry being the player who always defeats me one way or another. Bet against him he plays superb, bet with him and he loses! I should have stuck to singles, but at the moment I am struggling to find any real value.

EventJuan Carlos Ferrero vs Mario Ancic
SelectionJuan Carlos Ferrero
Strength10/10
Date07/01/2008
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 1.84 (Back)
ReasoningMario Ancic has been feelin pretty sick according to the rumours and is said to be badly prepared for tonights game. This could be a great opportunity for Juan Carlos Ferrero to start the year positivly after doing pretty good last year, and make a good return from his injury.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney Anyway here I go with a few singles... Ivo Minar vs Alun Jones @ 1.50 Minar seems to be hitting some good form and defeated the giant serving Isner in the qualifiers. I have seen Alun Jones play well against a weak and injured Nadal, but I think that Minar will have too much for him and a price of 1.50 is reasonable. Jo Wilfreid Tsonga vs Andreas Seppi @ 1.42 Have been very impressed with Tsonga recently and cannot wait for him to play on the grass courts because he done so well last year on them. He plays a good serve and volley game and is very powerful. As for Seppi he seems to play better on clay and I don't think he can beat Tsonga, who is fresh from beating Hewitt.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney Really busy with poker tournaments so this is going to be short. Plan on staying up late to get some trading done though, like the look of this card. Rosol @ 2.04. Just a fade on Roitman. He's awful on hard courts and making his first appearance of the year. Rosol came through qualifying and I like qualifiers. Ferrero @ 1.83. Worth a pop because of Ancic's fitness issues. H2H 3-0 to Ferrero. Also thought he was decent last year and Ancic never got back to his best last year.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney Malisse @ 1.83. Nieminen had a tough week last week and has an awful record after a final appearance. Malisse was OK last week and lost toYouzhny who turned out to be playing great. Tursunov @ 2.18. Wawrinka another off a tough week last week and a long flight and time difference from Qatar. Tursunov was playing OK and I like his explosive style in this match up. Pennetta @ 1.36 Will Hill. As much as I like Dokic, has to be opposed now. She's had a lot of matches in the past few days and simply doesn't have the fitness levels to keep recovering. Pennetta got back to her old level at the back end of last year and got a great win against Radwanska in the first round.

EventCarlos Moya v Stefan Koubek
SelectionStefan Koubek
Strength10/10
Date07/01/2008
Bookmaker/PriceBlue Square @ 2.25 (Back)
ReasoningNadal was totally exhausted after the semi final in Chennai vs Moya so there is a risk Moya hasnt fully recovered just yet. With Australian Open so close I think Koubek will be more motivated for this match than Moya. Koubek has won the last two meetings between these two so he is worth a bet.
EventThomas Johansson v Juan Monaco
SelectionJuan Monaco
Strength10/10
Date07/01/2008
Bookmaker/PriceBlue Square @ 2.25 (Back)
ReasoningLong trip for Thomas Johansson to get to this tournament so Im not sure how well prepared he is coming into this match. Thomas Johansson has good serves when they really work but Juan Monaco is no mug when it comes to return and he's much more talented than the swede when it comes plenty other stuff so the odds is worth a shot.
EventHyung-Taik Lee v Michael Llodra
SelectionHyung-Taik Lee
Strength10/10
Date07/01/2008
Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 1.92 (Back)
ReasoningMichael Llodra gets here as the tournament winner in Adelaide so there is a questionmark on his motivation this week. Lee had an early exit last week and will look to bounce back and he has good record vs both net rushers and lefties like Michael Llodra.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney At about 3/1, I've had a stab at Safarova to take a set off Henin. Lucie seems to be finding her feet nicely after the settling in period at Perth. Henin didn't do Australia last year and now needs to cope with a first up match and the jet lag.

The change in season they both found hard to take and Berdych forfeited a match with a virus and Lucie was ill also, I believe.

EventLapushchenkova - Dellacqua
SelectionLapushchenkova
Strength10/10
Date08/01/2008
Bookmaker/Price>Betfair @ 3.05 (Back)
ReasoningI simply don't get those odds.Dellacqua is not a star player in WTA to be such a favourite here. She is still just a prospect for the future.I don't even know if she would be in this round if Medina wouldn't retired.Someone might say that she took one set from Vaidisova last week. But let's be honest.Vaidisova is not in her best form.Lapushchenkova played really good opening match here against favourited Bondarenko and she won rather comfortably. So why shouldn't she put a great fight in this match too and with a bit of luck she may even win this one.Only advantage on Dellacqua's side I see is in home crowd :) I will give it a shot.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney Hi guys, Following picks for tomorrow: WTA TOUR, HOBART PENNETTA TO D MIRZA @ 2.09 at bwin On a medium-slow court Pennetta must have too much consistency and drive Mirza to unforced errors. WTA TOUR, HOBART ZVONAREVA TO D VESNINA @ 1.3 at pinnacle Zvonareva is simply a level above Vesnina, who plays very consistent game but does not have enough weapons to defeat Zvonareva. WTA TOUR, SYDNEY KUZNETSOVA TO D SCHIAVONE @ 1.3 at pinnacle Kuznetsova looked very good vs. Peer today and she must be in a good form as she declared no.1 ranking as her goal for 2008.

EventJulien Benneteau v Nicolas Almagro
SelectionNicolas Almagro
Strength10/10
Date08/01/2008
Bookmaker/PriceCentrebet @ 1.65 (Back)
ReasoningJulien Benneteau was incredible lucky vs Dudi Sela as his opponent only managed to take advantage of 2 14 breakballs in the 2 set match!! Benneteau will be the better player on the rallies but Almagros excellent serve should grant him lots of free points on this surface and he should be able to create couple of breakpoints thanx to Benneteaus poor 2nd serves.

SelectionGilles Simon
Strength10/10

Bookmaker/PriceLadbrokes @ 3.25 (Back)
Reasoning3.25 for a player with Gilles Simons excellent returns of serve is simply too tempting vs a player like Tomas Berdych who gets frustrated too easily when things aint getting his way. Specially when his attempts to hit winners keeps coming back at him.

Re: Tennis 7th-12th Jan: Auckland/Hobart/Sydney Agree with Almagro and Simon:loon. Still got Malisse from yesterday. Lay Gasquet @ 1.54. I think Tursunov is playing pretty well at the start of the year and is definately worth a go. Gasquet I don't think is one to trust in smaller events and onlyone match this year which was pretty tight against Andreev. H2H is 1-0 to Tursunov
