lunatism
SportFootball (Brazilian Serie B) EventAA Ponte Preta v Ituano FC SelectionItuano FC (+1.50) (Asian Handicap) Strength8/10 Date19/06/2007 Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 1.93 (Back) ReasoningAn early season prediction for the Brazilian Serie B today. 6 games in and Ponte Preta find themselves 2 points off the leaders, but at such an early stage in the season, it is hard to see the league staying this way for too long. 5 points was the difference between Ponte Preta and the team they were battling to overtake in their bid to avoid relegation last season, unfortunately they could close that gap and now find themselves in the Serie B. It's not the first season the home side have found themselves in the relegation scrap, the season before they avoided the drop by only 2 points due to their terrible goal difference. Although expected, relegation for Ponte Preta has still been a bit of a culture shock, having played in the Serie A long before it's change to standard league format in 2003. This has been reflected in their performance so far, which is inconsistent to say the least. But these are early days and this season they will hope to bounce back to the Serie A and spend another extended period of time there. Ituano are perennial mid-table finishers, and their poor start to the season is most likely to pick up at some point, so far this season they have been disappointing in their away performances, losing 3-1 to SE do Gama and just missing out 4-3 to Marilia Atletico. But they have won their last two matches (home games) and they can go into this game confident of causing their opponents difficulty and perhaps coming away with a point or a sneaky victory by a goal. Last season, Ituano won twice as many times away than at home, and they played much better, scoring more goals in the process too, they beat teams of high quality. Their 1-2 victory over league leaders Atletico Mineiro was one of the best, while they also enjoyed the same scoreline over eventual 4th place finishers America Natal. It would indeed be a gamble to take odds of 8.00 and go for the away win in this fixture, but to bet against a 2 goal victory by the home side would definately be good value. Their surprising 3-1 home victory over Vitoria Salvador would have alerted the home side to how dangerous they can be, and in light of that, this game could be very close. It may well end will a home win, but if that's the case, Ituano will go down fighting and should come away with at least a goal (and probably deserving more). The last time these two teams met at the Moises Lucarelli Stadium was in the Paulista back in 2005, and it was the away side who were the victors, in a fantastic unexpected 3-4 victory. In their last home game, Ponte Preta played Gremio Barueri, in a match many expected a big result for the home side, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The same may not quite happen today, but only if AA Ponte Preta do not underestimate their opponents. Prediction: 2-
lunatism
Re: Brazilian Serie B (Wednesday 20th June) FT: Ponte Preta 2 - 1 Ituano :nana :nana :nana Spot on!!! 0-0 at half time and anything could have happened, Ituano were always looking dangerous and the way they played deserved something out of the second half. Unfortunately they went down to a 10 minute double from Heverton, but they weren't ready to give up and pulled a goal back in the 85th minute. The scoreline could have been completely different if the away side hadn't been given the red card in the 67th minute!

lunatism
Re: Brazilian Serie B (Wednesday 20th June) best thing to do is sign up to Pinnacle - I get all the AH from there, and then I generally quote BetandWin prices because there aren't many sites that offer as many leagues as they do and I like to be consistent! Who do you use at the moment BTW?
