Australian A League Round 11 - Nov 3rd-5th - REVIEWS AND TIPS

Recommended Posts

Re: Australian A League Round 11 - Nov 3rd-5th - REVIEWS AND TIPS Melbourne should really reconsider who they appoint as Captain as in my eyes Kevin Muscat is an absolute moron and he basically cost Melbourne dearly when sent off for another indescretion that was totally unecessary. Considering the Victory were already playing with only 10 men in the first half and to then have your Captain and supposed leader get sent off for being a complete tosser before half-time meant the home side would be playing the second half with only 9 players. melbourne had no right to even draw this game, but they did, and great effort that. The Captain is supposed to lead by example and lift the team under adversity, not make the job at hand harder, if not unsurmountable for the team. Kevin Muscat you're a disgrace!!! :spank

Re: Australian A League Round 11 - Nov 3rd-5th - REVIEWS AND TIPS

CCM +1 AH @1.85 Home team are no. 1 and they lead 11 points. WOW! But CCM want the play off wright? Hope to see Mori in good mood here and he will probably score 1! The little teams allways play good against the strong ones and with good history here for CCM they could get a good result to help reaching the play offs! This is my bet! Also a small bet on CCM straight win @5.10
Good effort God :ok In hindsight and considering CCM's h2h record against Melbourne and the Away trip to NZ last week for Melbourne, the CCM +1 was probably worth a crack. They could have easily won the game for you at great odds, and probably should have considering Melbourne only had 9 players. I guess if Melbourne had of played with 11 players for the whole game then they could have quite easily kicked another couple og goals too, but that's football :dude

Re: Australian A League Round 11 - Nov 3rd-5th - REVIEWS AND TIPS Newcastle Jets v Sydney FC Date: Saturday November 4 Kick-off (local time): 7.00pm Venue: EnergyAustralia Stadium Previous meeting Sydney 2 Newcastle 2 (Aussie Stadium, Hyundai A-League round four, September 2006) Last five results Newcastle: Loss - Loss - Win - Win - Win Sydney: Win - Draw - Loss - Loss - Draw Analysis One of the most entertaining tussles of the season was separated by the greatest individual goal the fledgling league has seen when Newcastle No.10 Nick Carle glided 70 metres before slotting home past Adelaide goalkeeper Robbie Bajic last weekend. The last-gasp winner provided new coach Gary van Egmond maximum points from his three games in charge of the previously-grounded Jets and ended Carle's year-long barren spell in front of goal. Carle, whose previous goals also arrived against Adelaide in round eight last season, has been vocal in his support of Van Egmond with some subtle tactical changes making Newcastle far harder to break down. He has installed a robust shield in front of the back four using Paul Kohler and Stuart Musialik as screening midfielders and drummed a defensive mindset into wide supplementary strikers Joel Griffiths and Milton Rodriguez. Rodriguez, of course, scored twice on his debut against the reigning champion during the first phase of matches. Interestingly, Carle has also this week voiced his support of rival coach Terry Butcher with the Newcastle playmaker pleading with Butcher's superiors to give him more time to prove his worth to Sydney. The Englishman's fortune regarding the full availability of his squad has again been conspicuous by its absence in the build-up to the NSW derby with captain Mark Rudan the latest player forced to watch from the sidelines. Rudan serves his second one-match suspension of the season for accumulating four bookings while influential midfield trio Steve Corica, Terry McFlynn and Mark Milligan all have hamstring injuries. Jeremy Brockie returns from international duty with New Zealand 'A' although the teenager played three full matches in five days at the four-team Agribank Cup tournament in Vietnam and didn't arrive home until Tuesday evening. Matthew Bingley retains his place after penning an extension to his short-term deal. Like Rudan, Socceroos defender Jade North received a one-match suspension for his red card against Adelaide last weekend. Steve Eagleton is expected to be promoted to the starting line-up with Steven Old and Labinot Haliti also coming into an extended squad. Review courtesy of A League Website

After taking short odds about Sydney for 4 of the past five weeks and getting the wallet burnt, we now find they are at the amazing odds of $3-20 to beat the Jets tonight. Who would have envisaged three weeks ago that you would get these odds about Sydney to beat the Newcastle Jets? It's amazing what a few lacklustre games by Sydney and three wins on the trot for Newcastle can do for the price of a game.

Interesting H2H stats as both sides have beaten the other once and there has been three draws. 0-0, 1-1, 2-2. Each team has won when they have been the home team, and it has been a 2-1 scoreline. If history repeats then it is going to be a draw or a 2-1 win to the Jets.

Newcastle has won its past two home games and scored 5 goals in the process. They are improving each week under new Coach Garry Van Egmond. Sydney has a good away record and only lost to Melbourne and Central Coast in their last eight away games.

Sydney have a far better conversion rate than the Jets but have had 28 shots less, but Sydney have scored three more goals. The away team is more efficient when shooting on goal so a lot will depend on who has the most shots for the game. Last week the Jets had 26 shots against Adelaide and scored two, which is a top effort, while Sydney had over 20 shots against Perth for the one solitary goal.

Both sides tend to concede goals early at times, while Sydney can score goals early, the Jets have only scored one goal for the season in the first 30 minutes of a match, an interesting stat. Both sides score well in the last 15 minutes before half time, but they can also concede in the same time frame. Sydney is vulnerable just before half-time and the thirty minutes after resuming play in the second period. Sydney score late goals while the Jets concede them. The Jets appear vulnerable in the first half and the last 30 minutes of the second half.

Team Changes

Socceroos defender Jade North is out for a week after receiving a red card last week against Adelaide and he will be a big loss to the Jets. Steve Eagleton should take his place with Steven Old and Labinot Haliti also included in the team. Sydney has Mark Rudan is also out for a week for accumulating four yellow cards while influential midfield trio Steve Corica, Terry McFlynn and Mark Milligan all have hamstring injuries. Jeremy Brockie is back in the Sydney team and may add a little bite to the Sydney lineup who is missing some vital midfield components. Matthew Bingley retains his place in the Sydney side gaining an extension to his short-term deal.

This is an interesting match and the Jets are the form team of the comp having won three games in a row including the scalps of Queensland and Adelaide in that treble of wins. Sydney have been expected to win a number of games but have tended to draw or lose them after being in a winning position at one point in the game. Rudan, Corica and Milligan are missing from the Sydney side that drew 2-2 in the Round 4 clash against the Jets earlier this season. Jade North played in that game for the Jets too and is missing tonight.

I am really considering not having a bet in this match purely because Sydney has caused me so much betting grief lately and when I don’t back them they are most likely going to win. I am going to have a crack at the home team tonight purely on the fact they have a settled lineup which is winning, scoring goals, playing well as a team, and have a desire to win.

Nick Carle is on fire for the Jets while Griffiths is also playing solid football. Sydney have lost central defender Mark Rudan and are missing a large portion of their midfield due to injury and it is hard to see them scoring multiple goals with the team they currently have on the park, and the lackluster way they are playing. That could all turn around of course and Sydney could come out and spank the Jets ass’s too, but I am happy to back an in form team at home who have multiple scoring options against an out of form team away from home.

Having just checked the League Table it shows that a win by the Jets tonight would place them in the Top 4 which would be a wonderful acheivement for the Newcastle Club after losing their first seven games, and they are playing well enough to get themselves in there. This does give them extra incentive to win the game, I guess on the same token it gives Sydney an incentive to win as well, so they can keep their current place in the Top 4. A Jets win will knock Sydney out of the Top 4 and down into 5th place.

Only Jade North out for the Jets from last week. Sydney probably shouldn't be over $3-00 anyway because they have been disappointing not terrible, and could easily win this game if the right team turns up to play.

New Zealand Knights v Queensland Roar My bet will be Queensland -1 AH @ 1.72
That may be a good bet God considering Queensland have a 4-2-0 record over the Knights and a total combined for and against goals record of 16 - 2. Queensland have played the Knights in New Zealand twice and have won both games 2-0 and 5-0, so the Roar would be feeling pretty confident. They beat the Knights 5-0 last time they met. Interestingly enough Queensland have two 5-0 wins, two 2-0 wins and two 1-1 draws, go figure!

Re: Australian A League Round 11 - Nov 3rd-5th - REVIEWS AND TIPS Adelaide United v Perth Glory A League review of today's game Date: Sunday November 5 Kick-off (local time): 4.30pm Venue: Hindmarsh Stadium Previous meeting Adelaide 3 Perth 0 (Hindmarsh Stadium, R round 4, September 2006) Last five results Adelaide: Loss - Win - Win - Win - Loss Perth: Win - Win - Loss - Loss - Draw Analysis Perth Glory's playoff aspirations could be shaped by its results in a hectic double-header starting in Adelaide this Sunday. The Glory is scheduled to back-up the road trip to Hindmarsh with a Thursday night humdinger at the Telstra Dome, two matches on four days which will prove just how far Ron Smith's side have progressed since he took over in July. Adelaide counterpart John Kosmina's greatest battle is consistency after his side's consecutive wins against the Mariners, the Victory and the Knights were sandwiched between defeats to Sydney and Newcastle. At its peak, no side has displayed a more fluent attacking threat this season but in some ways Adelaide's vast strength in depth had led to a greater propensity for Kosmina to change his system and personnel. The United boss, who continues to coach from the stands this weekend, is forced into more decisions with the returns to training of defender Angelo Costanzo and strikers Fernando and Dez Giraldi. However, he elects to leave the trio sweating until the last moment with regard to changing his squad. One certainty is Nathan Burns, who is hoping to help the Qantas Young Socceroos reach the knockout phase of the Asian Youth Championships, will not take part. Perth stalwarts Stan Lazaridis and Stuart Young will be given until the end of the week to prove their fitness from ankle and groin injuries respectively. Both were subbed last week in the 1-1 draw with Sydney with Luka Glavas, who scored the second-half leveller against the reigning champion, on standby to replace either. Simon Colosimo (hamstring) and Mark Robertson (groin), however, are definitely out so Smith names a large travelling party including recalls for Ryan Townsend, Mimi Saric, David Micevski and Josip Magdic.

Re: Australian A League Round 11 - Nov 3rd-5th - REVIEWS AND TIPS New Zealand Knights v Queensland Roar Date: Sunday November 5 Kick-off (local time): 5.00pm Venue: North Harbour Stadium A League website review Previous meeting Queensland 5 New Zealand 0 (Suncorp Stadium, Hyundai A-League round four, September 2006) Last five results New Zealand: Loss - Loss - Loss - Loss - Loss Queensland: Loss - Draw - Win - Loss - Draw Analysis It doesn't get any easier for Paul Nevin's depleted New Zealand Knights as, fresh off the back of a 4-0 home defeat to leader Melbourne, they roll out of the welcome mat for second-placed Queensland Roar. Already seven points adrift of seventh position with the halfway mark approaching, the Knights will be desperate to simply end a run of eight consecutive Hyundai A-League defeats. The Roar, meanwhile, has higher aspirations after taking just a solitary point from two successive home games against the Mariners and the Jets. The Queenslanders' display against the Central Coast certainly merited all three points although questions will continue to be asked of coach Miron Bleiberg's propensity to chop and change his forward line. Sharpshooter Simon Lynch has been sorely missed over the past three weeks as he battles injury and looks likely to have earned a place on the bench after overcoming a back complaint. With under-20s forward Dario Vidosic absent, Bleiberg is expected to hand Yuning Zhang his second start with Ante Milicic also likely to win a recall after his surprising omission last weekend. Spase Dilevski and defender Stuart McLaren, who both picked up knocks against the Mariners on Saturday night, have come through with no problems while short-term signing Carl Recchia, who pulled out at the eleventh hour last weekend, is set to make his Queensland debut. Nevin has fewer options following a disconcerting string of injuries to a host of first-choice players and names an unchanged squad. Leading a long list of casualties, Dani Rodrigues is out for the season, Sean Devine still has a back problem, Richard Johnson is missing with groin trouble and Jonas Salley has an ankle injury. Meanwhile, Queensland's Remo Buess will take the opportunity to discuss a proposed switch to the Knights with Nevin over the weekend.

After doing my goalscorers research, I was going to take Allsop first and last on Friday, but due to daylight savings I missed kickoff and couldn't place my bets. Needless to say I'm not too fond of daylight savings today.

The strange thing is they have conceded 7 goals against Melbourne Victory in two games, in the other eight games they have only conceded 3 goals. They have a 1-0 win over Adelaide and a 0-0 draw with Sydney in those eight games, and also 0-1 losses to CCM and Sydney. Queensland’s only away loss is to Melbourne and by 4 goals to 1 and they have only conceded 4 goals in the other seven games which is a good effort.

Queensland taken with AH seems attractive against a mediocre NZ Knight with Lynch back in town. However' date=' its quite a long trip there to NZ from QLD, might this affect them ? Just this match stand out to me so far.[/quote'] Just placed my bet on QLD -1 AH @ 1.725 b365 :hope Medium Stake Couldn't agree more with you Beejay mate. H2H record is fantastic, Lynch is back in the squad and more importantly Zhang should do better imo, he get a game last week after his absences and I think he should be getting closer to his peak form game by game and against NZ Knight I think might be a good time to increase his tempo. Furthermore, Qld haven't tasted any win yet in the last 2 games and I dont think theres any better time than to do it against the Knight who is depleted by injuries missing the like of Rodriguez, etc.

Spot on Unco and the away team have averaged 25 shots a game their last three games, so not playing badly, just not converting. They could have easily won those games, with over twenty shots per game against three handy teams they should be able to up the ante agianst the league's poorest side you would think. I reckon about 2-0.

Re: Australian A League Round 11 - Nov 3rd-5th - REVIEWS AND TIPS Yeah, very true that. Looking at the stats that you have, they have lots of shot just couldn't convert. Hopefully Lynch will provide the answer for that :). Even though Milicic and Zhang to start, but maybe if they couldn't perform Lynch might be brought in to the rescue I guess.
