meatman
Re: The X Factor Well it's that time of year again where the X Factor goes H2H vs Strictly come dancing. Personally I couldnt give a toss which has the best viewing figures as long as I'm making money :tongue2 there's always excllent potential in thse reality TV shows in my eyes. Big brother went well for me in the summer, and hopefully the Autumn will be just as successful here. The two past winners have all been male and both of them solos. One was over 25, and the other was under 25. Traditionally, the groups don’t have a good time in this show, and I think its unlikely any of those will be winners. The winner is probably going to come from the over or under 25 list. The early favourite is Ben, who is in the over 25s list. From an initial source I heard he’s not as popular though and instead preference goes to Ray and Nikita from the under 25s list. The best group so far is quite clearly the unconventionals and I can see them being the best of Louis Walshe’s acts. I would consider them outright, but even if they make it to the last 3, a group will nearly always be beaten by a top solo artist. At the bottom of the scale, Dionne is definitely the weakest so far.. She will have to produce a good performance on Saturday night to save herself. At this moment in time, I think she will be the first elimination and that will be a bet of mine. So many times before, we see a female getting kicked off first out of these reality shows, and this looks to be a likely option. For the moment I’m going with Ray as the outright winner. He’s the sort of guy who’s odds might shorten anyway, so it would offer the chance of a lay off. Simon Cowell to be winning manager looks to be a good bet at this stage as well. His acts are all in the under 25 category, and he seems to have 4 very strong contestants with no real weak links. I cant see any of his acts getting eliminated within the first 2-3 weeks so the price of 2.25 can only shorten.
meatman
Re: The X Factor So my first bets are :- Simon Cowell winning manager @ 2.25 Coral 10pts Ray outright winner @ 8.0 Stanjames 3 pts Unconventionals outright winner @ 13.0 Ladbrokes 2pts Unconventionals best group @ 3.0 Ladbrokes 5pts Dionne first elimination @ 3.0 VC bet 6 pts GL :hope :hope :hope :hope

I think the editing is putting him in a 'people's favourite' role but I think he will end up having to be layed off. I don't think he will have it to go through.. oh damn, I am sounding like Cowall now!
Jaded
Re: The X Factor I like the Unconventionals myself - will hopefully post my thoughts later on, I want to see them all live before commenting too much. Apparently Lionel Richie is guest judge tonight, Rod Stewart next week. Songs for tonight: (from DigitalSpy, I assume they're reliable as they normally are and no-one's contradicted them there) Ashley - Easy originally a hit for Lionel Richie Ray - Ben originally a hit for Michael Jackson Leona - I'll Be There originally a hit for the Jackson 5 Nikitta - Heaven Must Of Sent You originally a hit for the Elgins Over 24 Ben - Tracks Of My Tears originally a hit for Smokey Robinson Dionne - I'm Gonna Make You Love Me originally a hit for Diana Ross & The Supremes Kerry - You Are The Sunshine Of My Life originally a hit for Stevie Wonder Rob - All Night Long originally a hit for Lionel Richie Groups 4Sure - What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted originally a hit for Jimmy Ruffin The Unconventionals - Dancing In The Streets originally a hit for Martha Reeves & The Vandellas MacDonald Brothers - Three Times A Lady originally a hit for The Commodores Eton Road - My Girl originally a hit for The Temptations First two bets for me are on tonight's elimination, both small stakes on Betfair. Robert @ 10.5, 1.5 points - screwed things up on Bootcamp day 2 when he messed up Purple Rain twice and the judges let him restart - nervous? The live show might be too much for him, and can't see Richie being too happy if he screws up All Night Long. Leona @ 44, also 1.5 points. - Not convinced at all by her, she's good but vastly overrated IMO and 44 is too high to turn down with a chance to lay off if she doesn't do too well. Song isn't one of the stronger ones either, IMO.
Jaded
Re: The X Factor MacDonalds stand out as incredibly bland, who the hell is going to vote for this pair? 2.74 to go on Betfair atm, 4 points - look dire.
meatman
Re: The X Factor dionne produced a surprisingly good display Unconvensionals shyte - altho not their style Mc Donalds look in trouble to me - Louis Walshes groups have been shit so far lol
Jaded
Re: The X Factor Also gone for Dionne to go, 3 points @ 8 - she sounds dreadful, amazed the judges are so keen. I may blow my bank in week one here if the public don't like one of the other 8!!
Jaded
Re: The X Factor Dunno why that didn't post, tried sending it before the Uncoventionals. I quite liked the Unconventionals tbh, although I can see from other forums that I'm in a small minority there!

I quite liked the Unconventionals tbh, although I can see from other forums that I'm in a small minority there![/quote'] they'll survive in my eyes the question now is to predict who the bottom 2 will be and then who the judges will boot out. At this moment in time it looks like all of Simons acts are going through - he will probably have the deciding vote if Mcdonalds are in bottom 2 then they are going home IMO
Jaded
Re: The X Factor Revamped to win odds not out at many places yet, so posting initial thoughts here. Robert – Ugh. Amazed the judges praised it so much, tried to lay him off to go at 4.9 and JUST missed out because Simon raved about him Eton Road – Lead singer not too good but improved, backing vocals very good IMO. I think the public might be ready for a new boy band, to be honest – stronger than I was imagining them to be. Nikitta – Blah. Not bad, just anodyne. And way too quite. Agree with Louis that it was a bad choice of song, though. Ben – Ummm... I really liked him, very strong praise from the judges. I’m slightly unconvinced about him as favourite, though. Not sure why... just something stopping me going for it. MacDonald Brothers – Even more blah than Nikitta. No frills was an understatement! Jumped on them to go at 2.74 on Betfair as the price crashed down. Ray – Arrrrrrrrghh... in fairness, there’s no WAY you do that song without sounding cringeworthily maudlin, but I feel like I’m drowning in syrup after listening to him. Easily got enough appeal to mums/teens to last for a while though. Dionne – Dire, sounded like she was being strangled! Unconventionals – Woot! Actually sounded like they’d worked on it rather than just the standard exact cover. Best so far BY far, in my (minority!!) opinion. Simon is either crazy or just taking the piss out of Louis by slamming the choice of song so much. Drew’s calm response to Simon’s criticism might be worth a few extra votes, as well. Much less likely to go than McDonalds I’d say, at this stage you’re better off having 80% of people think you suck and the other 20% loving you than having everyone think you’re okay. Ashley – Laid back and cool. Not the best voice and not too attractive, but something about him that makes me think he could go far. Kerry – Ugh. I actually liked her on previous shows, but that was boring, BORING. Let’s hear something decent next week – assuming she stays, should easily get enough sympathy votes to hang around. 4sure – They’re ok. They’re nothing MORE than okay, though. Leonna – I may be in love. WTF was I doing backing her to go, even at 44’s? She looks absolutely gorgoeus here, and sounds incredible. Best group – Unconventionals could do it if they’re saved tonight and go back to a-cappela, but for me Eton Road are massive favourites for this now. I’d definitely back them at anything much over 2. Best 16-24 – Leonna looks by far the best bet if she’s anything over 2.5 or so. Best 25 or over – Wouldn’t touch it, Ben seems to be heavy favourite overall and as I said above slightly unconvinced that he has the right image for viewers to vote for him. But given the other 3 were all hopeless IMO, I’ll avoid the market. Overall – Will be looking for 17 or so on Eton Road and 5ish on Leonna. To me, she’s the favourite here. Will post again once I’ve managed to get prices on.
meatman
Re: The X Factor agree I thought Leona was the best Dionne 40/1 to go - I didnt see much in her tbh well at the moment it semes Unconventionals and Mc Donalds will be in the bottom 2 which gives a real problem I dont know who the judges would save - probably unconventionals but Simon didnt like em did he
Jaded
Re: The X Factor I'm not overly convinced that the Uncons WILL be bottom two. Yes, the odds look damning, but I think they were weird enough to get a few votes, certainly than Dionne who was horrendous, and Nikitta/Robert/Kerry who were ridiculously bland. meatman
Re: The X Factor I've gone for the Mc donalds to go @ 1.96 its almost certain they will be in the bottom 2 and I cant see the judges saving whoever they're up against I had Dionne to go first 6pts so I've staked enough to cover that loss whixh looks likely

Jaded
Re: The X Factor This is STUPID - they should have told Louis to **** off and have Drew doing lead vocals all thru, there's no way they get the judges vote over Dione here. They HAD to risk changing something - even at the risk of f*cking things up royally, because there's no way the judges pick them now after slamming them so much earlier. Jaded
Re: The X Factor Actually, WTF am I thinking of considering backing Eton Road overall?! Let's see... 8 solo artists have managers who have some ****ing clue of what is needed to be successful. Eton Road, 4Tune, and the MacDonald Bastards are lumbered with this ****ing twinkly eyed moron who thinks the best thing to do with an a-cappella group is to give them some sodding backing music!!! Gonna stick it all in Leona. I mean ON Leona. Honest!!!!
