kevshat
The Premier League gets underway tonight. His game suits the shot clock perfectly and with the top 4 progressing to the play-offs there's no way he won't make them and it's then he seems to go into overdrive! The league looks wealer on paper this year than last and I can't see anyone stopping Ronnie here. 10pts S.Hendry to beat G.Dott 2.36 Betfair This is Graeme Dott's 1st match in the Premier League and as Stephen Maguire showed last year it can take a bit of getting used to the shot clock, particularly when you are a slow player like Dott. Hendry is back to World No1 which confirms he still has the class to compete and I think he'll beat Dott over 6 frames.

I don't think both will win so I'll lay them both. 10pts Lay G.Dott to beat J.White 1.95 Betfair Graeme Dott takes on Jimmy White having got a 3-3 draw against Stephen Hendry last week. He was lucky to get that draw as Hendry pretty much gifted him frames 1 and 6. Jimmy White's better performances last season came in this. I don't think it's set in stone Dott will win here, particularly with the draw a major factor. 10pts Lay R.O'Sullivan to beat K.Doherty 1.99 Betfair O'Sullivan drew 3-3 with Ding Junhui last week. 1 person who gives him more trouble than most is Ken Doherty. Even when he loses to O'Sullivan they are always close matches. It's Doherty's 1st Premier League match in it's new guise tonight and I'm sure he'll be well up for it. This could go either way and could quite easily be a 3-3 draw so I'm happy to lay O'Sullivan.
western skies
Re: Premier League Snooker Going for a small bet on Doherty to beat O'Sullivan in this one. As you rightly point out, kevshat, Doherty usually runs O'Sullivan close in their encounters and seems to have the sort of game that Ronnie struggles to overpower. He's also a more fluent player than he's given credit for, so I don't see the 25 second shot time restriction affecting his game very much. Doherty @ 4.8 on Betfair for me - just a little nibble at 5pts (out of 100)

Doherty is a better player than White right now, of course he is that's why he's World No1 but Doherty doesn't win many ranking event matches 5-0 or 5-1, his opponents regularly take frames off him. Jimmy White played some of his best snooker for a couple of years last week against Graeme Dott and a repeat of that could easily secure a draw here. Jimmy White always raises his game when he plays at the Masters at Wembley and with tonight's action in Crawley he'll have the same vociferous crowd on his side. To me there's enough to suggest this won't be the stroll people think it will be for Doherty and there's enough value in laying him.

In doing that he played 4 matches, which included a best of 11 and a best of 17 so he comes here fully match sharp. Ding in contrast was utterly pathetic last week in losing 5-1 to Jimmy White. Any signs of a repeat performance here and the scoreline would be the same. Doherty's a tough player to beat and Ding will need to be right at his best to do so. He won't have played many matches recently, only the Premier League games so rustiness could well be a factor for him. We know Doherty's in form and he'll want to build on his 4-2 win over White in his last match and I'll take him to win this.

western skies
Re: Premier League Snooker I'm guessing they don't take it that seriously then Paul :lol Is that since the shot-time restriction came in? (I seem to remember Jimmy White being particulraly against the idea when it was mooted during one of those filler pieces the BBC do at the World Championships). Shame if it's true, because to my mind snooker needs a bit of variation if it's going to survive as a TV sport. I remember back when you had the State Express Team Championships, the Yamaha Masters (with it's group format) and the Hofmeister Doubles - not to mention the proper Pot Black and the Pro/Celebrity tournaments. Seemed there was more interest in it then, even though the standard was lower. Nowadays the TV tournaments (apart from the Masters & the WC) seem to run into each other - all the same format (best of 9), and nothing that distinguishes the various events from each other. Even the TV sets look the same. Shame, cause I really love Snooker.
kevshat
Re: Premier League Snooker Looks a cracking price Kev' date=' but I just can't bring myself to bet on The Premier League knowing what the players think of it. :\[/quote'] That was the old days boss. £1,000 a frame, £1,000 a century and £50,000 to the winner makes it the 2nd best paid tournament on the circuit these days so there's more incentive to be up for it now. Before Hearn took it over it was 8 frames, non televised, with 2 men and his dog watching it with a pittance to the winner. Now it's live on TV with full crowds around the country and all jazzed up. Like with most things he gets hold of, Hearn seems to have sorted the Premier League out.

He beat White, but has been in pretty good form.

Didn't realise it started Saturday, I thought it was Monday. As for tonight, all 4 players playing tonight have been to Paul Hunter's funeral this afternoon therefore the safest option tonight is no bet as I can't see any of the 4 really caring what happens tbh. The price on Doherty is good Mullet but beware of the funeral effects mate.
kevshat
Re: Premier League Snooker Back in business tonight with O'Sullivan vs Davis and Ding vs Dott. Just the 1 bet for me. 10pts Ding Junhui to beat Graeme Dott 6/5 Betfred Ding currently leads the Premier League table on 5pts from his 4 matches. Graeme Dott lies in the group on 3pts in 6th place. Ding needs a win tonight as his last match is against Stephen Hendry and 5pts won't be enough to go through with 4 players already on 3pts. He beat Graeme Dott 3-0 in his own backyard at the Grand Prix last week and should be good for a repeat. Graeme Dott spent more time moaning about the format than playing last week which isn't good for a World Champion. He won only 1 match in his group and I don't see much joy coming his way here either.
Kveld
Re: Premier League Snooker Dott has only played twice,, so 3pts is actually a better pts/game ratio than Ding. stereoman
Re: Premier League Snooker Today's Bettingzone market Moves: 1200: Switching sports and Bet Direct gave their snooker punters a boost by deciding to refund bets on Ding Junhui in the Premier League following his withdrawal from the semi-finals for which he had already qualified. "Ding has been told he must represent his country in the Asian Games in Doha and, therefore, cannot take up his place in the final four. As a result we have decided to refund our punters who had backed Ding into 11/4 for the event," explained McCann. =========== Hmmm. You'd have thought the organisers would have seen it coming. Nice gesture by Bet Direct though (don't know if anyone else will follow though). Read that Stephen Hendry has to beat Ding 6-0 next week to stand a chance to qualify for the semi-finals next week. :\ :eek
