Mr Intensity
Re: F1 Canadian Grand Prix 25th June Evening Mr I.What do you make of Rosberg for a points finish(9/4 with Sporting odds)? Drove a great race last time out,& few improvements to car. Hi mate, Last time out I thought he was pretty average, and well beaten by the BMWs:$. The Williams could be pretty strong here as the aerodynamic requirement is different and that area is where they have struggled. To be honest I'd still expect the BMWs and probably the hondas to be faster than them during the race (maye not in qualifying;)). Also, this track is a car breaker and can you trust this Williams to get to the finish?:unsure I think at this stage, not knowing the speed of the Williams, also not knowing where he'll qualify and the reliability concern it's a very risky bet. Edit: Just noticed bet365 have Rosberg @ 2.00 and Webber @ 1.72 to finish in the points, so they must fancy Williams this weekend:unsure
Mr Intensity
Re: F1 Canadian Grand Prix 25th June I'm not going to make the play I alluded to earlier. It was going to be Schumacher to win as I think the Ferrari will be the best package this weekend. However, with all the risks involved at this stage I'd want 3.00 and I'm not getting it. If he sticks it on pole I'll probably bet on him for the race and be happy with my 2.00;) :ok
rippyuk
Re: F1 Canadian Grand Prix 25th June Posted this on Sports Punter before I came on here. I was very tempted to go for Michael Schumacher outright too Mr I, may well follow your lead & go with it if he gets pole. Sport Motorsport Event F1: Candian GP (Podium Finish) Selection M Schumacher Strength 10/10 Date 25/06/2006 Bookmaker/Price Sportingodds @ 1.36 (Back) Reasoning Montreal can be a tricky circuit, not least of all because teams don't test here, meaning aside from car setup (which will be light & potentially twitchy), experience & feel for the track could count for a lot. Michael Schumacher has won this race seven times, with consecutive wins 2000-2004, coming second in 2005 to Kimi Raikkonen. It's a circuit he feels at ease with, and his confidence is high for this race. With the ever present threat of Alonso this season, I'm reluctant to go for the outright win, so I'm taking a nailed-on (acts of god willing) podium finish for Schumacher. Mr Intensity
Re: F1 Canadian Grand Prix 25th June Nothing appeals to me in qualifying. Ferrari were struggling in practice yesterday but it looks like being warmer today and the conditions should suit them more. As always Renault look good, and McLaren seem to have made a genuine improvement in the past few races. Perhaps an Alonso/Kimi/Schumi top 3 and a repeat of Silverstone will happen;). BMW look strong again, but just over even money to finish in the points doesn't seem worth it at this stage, especially considering the usual attrition rate at this track. Mr Intensity
Re: F1 Canadian Grand Prix 25th June Very surprised with the Renault pace, they were immense. Books are pretty slow at putting there prices up, but that's OK, I can wait until tomorrow afternoon:D.
BillyHills
Re: F1 Canadian Grand Prix 25th June Just a couple of bets today Under 15.5 finishers 4/6 @ Skybet A difficult circuit here and i expect a few casualties, we need 7 retirements and i reckon thats about right for the price on offer. Winning Distance Under 8 seconds 5/6 @ Skybet As usual i think this is a decent 50/50 bet because more times than not the leader eases right down in the closing stages and manages to preserve the car and wins by a couple of seconds. Worth a bet. Good luck MrI and the rest of you.
Mr Intensity
Re: F1 Canadian Grand Prix 25th June SportMotorsport EventCanadian Grand Prix SelectionFISICHELLA to finish on the podium Strength10/10 Date25/06/2006 Bookmaker/Pricetotesport @ 1.80 (Back) ReasoningThis looks like a very solid price considering he's starting 2nd. The renaults were absolutely awesome yesterday, I can't describe how impressed I was with them. Even if they are lighter on fuel, and even if they are three stopping, they have immense pace and if they can get away OK they should be able to run away with this. The dangers are abviously Kimi and Schumi. Kimi has looked strong and if everyone is two stopping he could get close to them. However, I'm not sure I can say the same about Schumi. I expected Ferrari to be very strong this weekend but that simply is not the case. Unless there is a massive turnaround I cannot see Schumi having the pace to keep with the Renaults/McLaren and unless something unfortunate happens this podium should be very solid for Fisichella. SportMotorsport EventCanadian Grand Prix SelectionHEIDFELD to finish in the points Strength10/10 Date25/06/2006 Bookmaker/Price>William Hill @ 2.75 (Back) ReasoningBasically backing both of the BMWs to finish in the points. Only need one to do it to get a decent profit. The BMWs looked very solid at Silverstone and looked to have carried that form over to Canda with some very good stints in qualifying. However, it all seemed to go wrong in qualifying. They blamed this on higher temperatures affecting there balance. Temps are set to be a little lower today so hopefully they can get back on track. However, they still managed to qualify 11th (Villeneuve) and 13th (Heidfeld) which isn't bad. They can go for the optimum fuel strategy and aren't too many places off the points already. With the usual high attrition rate here, on pace I certainly think they can reach the top 8, so long as they make it to the finish. SportMotorsport EventCandian Grand Prix SelectionVILLENEUVE to finish in the points Strength10/10 Date25/06/2006 Bookmaker/Price>William Hill @ 2.50 (Back) ReasoningBasically backing both of the BMWs to finish in the points. I know Villeneuve has a poor record here and has put in some very dodgy performances in the past, but I fancy he'll have a good one today. Mr Intensity
Re: F1 Canadian Grand Prix 25th June SportMotorsport EventCanadian Grand Prix SelectionRAIKKONEN v M Schumacher Strength10/10 Date25/06/2006 Bookmaker/PricePinnacle Sports @ 2.06 (Back) ReasoningI think this is a very nice H2H to be getting at over evens, I was going to take it at 1.83 from a UK bookie! Basically, I'm not impressed with Ferrari this weekend. They should have been the strongest package but that's simply not the case, they've struggled in every session and I think Schumis done well to get it on 5th. Trulli starts ahead of him and hopefully he can stay ahead for a little while and create one of the infamous 'Trulli trains' that we haven't seen for a while. I expect Michael to get him pretty quickly but I'm sure they don't have the pace to keep up with Kimi who should be chasing and trying to hold onto the McLarens. I think McLaren look pretty strong here, and look to have made a genuine improvement in the past couple of races. Kimi is very good round here, remember him winning from 8th (I think) on the grid last year. I think on pace he'll have no problems with this, so let's hope for realiability from the McLaren. SportMotorsport EventCanadian Grand Prix SelectionROSBERG to win group Strength10/10 Date25/06/2006 Bookmaker/PriceLadbrokes @ 4.50 (Back) ReasoningThe group is: F Massa 3.50 J Button 4.00 R Barrichello 4.50 N Rosberg 4.50 J Trulli 5.00 And the starting positions are: 4. TRULLI Toyota 5. M.SCHUMACHER Ferrari 6. ROSBERG Williams 7. MONTOYA McLaren 8. BUTTON Honda 9. BARRICHELLO Honda 10. MASSA Ferrari Schumacher and Montoya are in the middle of this but they don't count. I've mentioned that I don't fancy Ferrari today, and although Massa is probably very heavy I don't think he'll have the pace to win this group. I don't like the pace of the Hondas either, when have we ever seen them show better pace in the race than in qualfiying? I can't see them moving forward, and there's quite a bit of action behind them to get tangled up with. I'm also not convinced by the Toyotas. It looks to me that Trulli has just really got hooked up yesterday and has produced one of his magical quali performances. I've already mentioned that temps went up yesterday and I think they've just nailed the setup. I also think he is going to be pretty light, and I'd be very surprised if his isn't the first to stop (unless Renault are 3 stopping). So that leaves me with Rosberg. After blocking Webber and Barrichello in the first session he really turned it on. Williams and in particular Rosberg have been inconsistant as anything this season, but that means that when they are quick they are very quick. I think this will be a very strong race for him, so long as the car remains reliable. He starts 2nd within this group, and I can certainly see him getting past Trulli at some stage of the race. So that means I think it's between Massa and Rosberg, and I like the price I'm getting here. Best of luck guys:ok

Mr Intensity
Re: F1 Canadian Grand Prix 25th June One more that I just noticed..... SportMotorsport EventCanadian Grand Prix SelectionFISICHELLA fastest lap E/W (1/5, 1,2,3) (Each-Way) Strength3/10 Date25/06/2006 Bookmaker/PriceSkybet @ 11.00 (Back) ReasoningJust noticed that Skybet let you do this market E/W, which is a little strange but I'll have a go. They are also a stand out price on Fisi, with the next best being 8.50, so I really think this is worth a go. Basically, the Renault looks awesome here. They look to have the fastest package by some margin and I'd be surprised if they weren't 1st and 2nd in the fastest laps. Also a chance they are 3 stopping so even better chance of setting fastest lap. Expect Alonso to get a bit of a gap early on, so Fisi should be travelling in dirty air. There's also a chance of Fisi being pressurised here one of his stops from Kimi or possibly Schumi and needing to put a real burst on. Lots of reasons to like this bet, and I'm certainly willing to have a go at this price.
