Racing chat Sunday 16th March

First day of the turf Flat season in Ireland and I usually have a go at the first two year old race, the maiden at 1.40

Obviously no form to go on !

At the moment there are 8 runners so I'm going for an EW shot ......... Army Leave EW at 28/1 bet365

The trainer has had 2 runners on the AW at Dundalk in the last fortnight and they both won and the Post notes that the trainer can get one ready at home for a debut run

The sire's offspring tend to do best on soft ground which it is at the Curragh

On the down side this race is sometimes won by horses who end up in Group race company and my selection doesn't look like that level on breeding and cost (cheap yearling) so this might be his best chance of getting on the score sheet

Hopefully there won't be a non runner to reduce the places to 2 ........ in which case my horse will definitely finish 3rd
