Thanks for giving your thoughts. Like you say probably not too much to worry about especially if you're monitoring the win market as well. Any blatant manipulation of the place market that didn't involve trying to do the same on the win market would be pretty obvious and would probably raise the alarm bells enough for you to wait and monitor things further until the markets become more liquid. But I knew that there'd be a fairly slow strike rate, and just one decent-priced place double could put me back in profit, so I'm not despairing. I'm going away for a long weekend, so won't post any more bets until Monday at the earliest, but I haven't given up. I was hoping that the profit on the place doubles would more or less pay for the stakes on the win doubles, leaving any returns from the win doubles as overall profit, but so far the place yield has only been about 24%, so I'm actually more disappointed with the "place +41.39 points" in the figures than I am by the "win -83 points".
