Analysis:

UEFA Champions League Semi Final is ongoing. The 2nd between Real Madrid and Manchester City will kick off at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Real Madrid
In the last game, they defeat RCD Espanyol 4-0. Their fifteen-point lead put the team in an unassailable position of Spanish La Liga. What they need to do at present is to concentrate on European games and win another champion.

Manchester City
They are sitting in the first place in EPL, with just one point ahead of Liverpool. As the gap between them and the second is narrow, they must try their best for the rest of this season. They have a psychological advantage as they get one goal lead in 1st leg.

Villarreal vs Liverpool

Villarreal will be looking for an improved result here after the 2:1 La Liga losing effort in their last game against Alaves. That was their second straight defeat after losing 2:0 at Anfield last week. It has been seldom in recent times that Villarreal hasn’t conceded. It will be a concern for them that Villarreal has seen their defense breached in 5 of their previous six games, giving up seven goals during that time. The Yellow Submarine needs to implement the attacking approach to get back into the tie. There aren’t many selection issues, with just the lone fitness concern for the Villarreal manager Unai Emery to contend with due to a largely intact set of players. Alberto Moreno (Cruciate Ligament Rupture) is out of contention.

Liverpool heads into the encounter following on from a 1:0 Premier League win with the eclipse of Newcastle United in their last fixture. The Reds continued their title race with Manchester City, who is one point ahead. Over the course of their last half-dozen clashes, Liverpool has amassed a tally of 15 goals. Liverpool has also scored on each one of those occasions. During that period, they have seen five goals scored by their opponents. The visitors have a solid 2:0 advantage, which they want to keep intact in Villarreal. Owing to an otherwise available group of players, there’s only one fitness worry for the Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp to be concerned with. Roberto Firmino (Foot Injury) misses out on this game.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

Liverpool has been in a better momentum, and we expect them to confirm their spot in the Champions League finals. The Reds should beat Villarreal in the second leg as well.

Goals Market Prediction

The visitors have been pretty disciplined in the back recently, managing to keep the clean sheet on the previous four occasions. Therefore, we don’t expect many goals in this game, which should stay under a 2.5 margin.

Villarreal vs Liverpool

The Champions League Semi-Final second legs are here and the action begins with the 8pm BST kick-off between La Liga club Villarreal and Premier League team Liverpool at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Tuesday night. The English side have a 2-0 aggregate lead from the first leg but they must look to hold that advantage against a club that remain solid in Europe at home this season.

Villarreal put in an underwhelming and arguably over-cautious display in the first leg at Anfield last week with an own goal from Pervis Estupinan and a goal from Sadio Mane sending them crashing to a two goal deficit in this tie. Unai Emery came out firing after the game in the face of criticism over his tactics claiming that Liverpool will face a completely different team in this second leg at home. The Yellow Submarine have gone undefeated in their knockout games at home in this competition so far having drawn 1-1 with Juventus and beating Bayern Munich by a 1-0 result. Neither delivered the two goal margin of victory they will need here but it shows how hard a place this stadium is to come for away sides. There is a history of Villarreal home games in the Champions League knockout phase not bringing goals with just 10 goals being scored in the 7 home knockout games they have played in this competition down the years. They have already lost at home to an English club in this competition this season after a 2-0 loss to Manchester United in the group stage.

Liverpool are determined to fulfil what they feel is their destiny of a historic quadruple. I feel I need to mention it every preview now to avoid jinxing them! The Reds have won 21 of their last 25 matches in all competitions and are in a superb position to reach a third Champions League final in five seasons. Jurgen Klopp's men have won all 5 of their away games in the Champions League this season scoring at least two goals in each of those games. When you consider that their opponents have been Porto, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Benfica then you can appreciate how dangerous Liverpool have been on the attack. One of the key members of that attack has been Mane who has now bagged 14 goals in the Champions League knockout stages. Only Frank Lampard has scored more for an English team with 15 goals.

This really is a tie that Liverpool should be looking to close out but we all know how these matches can go. Villarreal will have nothing to lose and in front of their own fans they will have all the self-belief in the world. I just feel we are witnessing history in the making with the way this Liverpool team is playing. They are so potent in attack yet still resolute at the back. I can't see Villarreal scoring two let alone Liverpool not scoring. I'm backing the away side to win the game and the tie.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City

The second Champions League Semi-Final 2nd leg taking place this week comes at us on Wednesday night at 8pm BST when newly crowned La Liga champions Real Madrid look to continue their journey towards a fifth trophy win in this competition in 9 seasons against Premier League leaders Manchester City at the Bernabeu. Can the away side hold on to their slender 4-3 aggregate lead?

Real Madrid have returned to being the great entertainers of European football with their attacking approach to games helping head coach Carlo Ancelotti to become the first man to win the top flight league title in each of the big five European leagues of Spain, England, Italy, France, and Germany. He's also managed to look like an absolute don during the celebrations of each one as well. Los Blancos might be a goal down in this tie but they'll have every belief they can claw it back with away goals not an issue here. Real Madrid's matches in the knockout stages so far have seen a total of 21 goals scored in 5 games. Striker Karim Benzema has led the charge on that front with 9 goals in the club's last 4 knockout matches and 18 goals in his last 13 games across all competitions. The fans will be wary though that Real did lose at home to Chelsea by a 3-2 score after extra time in the last round.

Manchester City are still on track for a double this season with Pep Guardiola's men top of the Premier League and ahead on aggregate in this tie. The Citizens were simply mesmerising in the first leg and will probably feel disappointed that their lead over Real Madrid isn't larger. It's now 4 wins on the bounce for City with 16 goals scored during that run so they are also showing that their attacking prowess shouldn't be questioned. The first leg was the first time in 9 games in this competition that City conceded more than 2 goals. Guardiola's side have already eliminated one club from the Spanish capital city when they beat Atletico Madrid by a 1-0 score in the Quarter-Finals. The fact that City have also kept 4 clean sheets in their last 5 knockout games in the Champions League should give their back-line confidence that they can get another shut out to progress to the Final.

It is Manchester City who have won the last three meetings between these two sides but Real Madrid look more threatening that ever before with the combination of Luka Modric and Benzema proving to be irresistible at the moment. I still feel City have the stronger squad and even though we could see a classic that could go all the way to penalties here I think City may have enough to sneak through.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City

Real Madrid will be looking for another win after a 4:0 La Liga success against Espanyol. Although they trailed 2:0 at Etihad Stadium already after ten minutes, they are still active in this tie. Karim Benzema scored a brace to keep Los Blancos’ hopes alive in a 4:3 first-leg defeat. At least three goals per match have been seen in 5 of the last six fixtures where Real Madrid has been involved. Opposing sides scored 10 of them in this period while Real Madrid totted up 17. It is going to be a tough challenge for the hosts, but they want to secure their place in the Champions League finals.

Manchester City comes into this match after a 4:0 Premier League win over Leeds United in their previous outing. The Citizens continued the title race with Liverpool, being one point ahead of their rivals. With their forward play coming to the fore of late, Manchester City has helped themselves to an abundance of goals over their previous six clashes (18, to be exact). That translates to the ominous mean average of 3 goals scored per match for this time. Manchester City looks forward to putting another good performance and staying in the game for the trophy they want to lift so much.

Full-Time Winner Odds & Prediction

It is going to be a clash of the two giants, and anything is possible in this match. Although Manchester city is a favorite, Real Madrid refuses to surrender, and we think the hosts won’t lose this match. We’ll see if that will be enough for Karim Benzema and the lads to eliminate the English team.

Goals Market Prediction

Both teams enter this game after being very efficient in their domestic championships and look forward to continuing in the same fashion. We expect another goal feast, and neither team should keep its net intact.
