a 2 horse race - literally

apologies if this sort of thread has been done to death previously but

today at Fontwell theres a 2 runner race (would have been 3 without a non runner) and Sundays future stars intermediate chase at Sandown has just Chantry House and the Big Breakaway declared, are we having too many meetings on the same day or not enough horses        yes i can expect it on a weekday from time to time having small fields but a weekend at a track like Sandown??

Too many meetings I think .....

Also too many races aimed at the small group of decent horses ..... listed, group and decent conditions races all chasing the same few hundred horses. On the whole there doesn't seem to be a problem of small fields with lower class handicaps

I don't mind one or two small fields at every meeting ...... gives you an opportunity to make a quick selection without spending ages looking at lots of entries

I wouldn't like to go down the Hong Kong route where a card might be 8 pin sticking 14 runner handicaps
