Its not a particularly high scoring ground in the recent past whereas it has a good record as a test ground for runs scored. The strange thing is that there doesnt really seem to be any advantage in backing the side batting second to get a higher opening stand, which from the stats you should think would follow tbh. Looking in the recent past generally a wicket goes down early around the high teens, early twenty's mark, apart from when SA put on 102 v WI but we know they spray it like a shower nozzle on steroids. there has to be something about batting second though with stats like that. Australias win @ Lords was clinical & was like the old Aussies tbh, & Ponting getting runs was ideal for them as he was the one player who hadnt really got going before that game. Gillespie may well be dropped for Watson if fit which would put his test place in serious jeopardy. Hayden didnt play sunday due to a mysterious shoulder injury but should be fit here. The only thing I didnt check was the weather but pretty sure it was dry & sunny tbh. Both games so far have been marked by early wickets, so with these stats then again the toss is likely to be crucial

Re: Eng v Aus, NatWest decider, the Oval, tuesday I'd say it looks a good bet tbh ed, Katich will play more of a holding role IMo & I think Gilchrist will try to impose as normal. Of course thast increases his chances of getting out but it wont take long before he's out of sight if he doesnt....

Re: Eng v Aus, NatWest decider, the Oval, tuesday Agree with that Swoops, thats the main reason I dont bother with match bets involving Gilchrist anymore, he can run up an innings winning knock in 20 overs or can go 1st ball. Ive booked the day off work to watch tomorrows game so I'm gonna make sure I have a few bets on it :unsure

Re: Eng v Aus, NatWest decider, the Oval, tuesday Not a good bet IMO, as you've both said Gilchrist is not a very consistent player, whereas Katich has got into the habit of making 30+ recently. Could never take Gilchrist odds on against such a player.
