Towcester Races Live On Sky TV

Jonathan Hobbs Preview

TOWCESTER’S SKY RACES:

7.11

PENNYS LUNA has not quite enjoyed the luck at Towcester in two races here, hampering herself with slow starts, but Shirley Aveline’s bitch beat the now-retired Cloran Paddy in a hot race at Perry Barr on St Leger final night. She could out-stay up-in-trip Jovial Monk for the spoils. The latter ran in the Puppy Derby and could cut loose inside.

7.26

A cracking but trappy bitches’ race with MORETON MADRAS perhaps best-drawn against the fence to strike. John Spracklen’s Swindon bitch won well here a fortnight ago and might always be handy inside, with every chance to lead if out-trapping some staying types. These include Barricane Carina and Rubys Razzle. Crossfield Molly loves it here, so respect is due.

7.43

Sprint action next and another great race. Toolmaker Rambo won well at Notts on Monday and did win the sprint here on Derby final night, so he’s in-form and has solid Towcester form. However, Liz McNair’s QUEEN ANNA continues to look the real deal after winning a hot two-bend affair last week. The Henlow track record-breaker is still improving.

7.59

Puppy Derby winner MAGICAL BALE heads up a high-class field here. Kevin Hutton’s dog was brilliant in landing the £20,000 showpiece a fortnight ago and, if handling the inside berth, with one of his smash breaks might always be dominating. Droopy Gold ran a great race here on Derby final night and is a danger to all if out-trapping the classy King Eden.

8.16

Shootout time now and what a contest. Speed is the order of the day and the lead will be crucial. However, Bubbly Bluebird did reel in DOROTAS WILDCAT in last week’s big Nottingham final, and Bruisers Bullet was also powering home. This could go anyway, but Kevin Hutton’s red-boxed runner is better drawn not - and still improving after Notts?

8.33

British-Bred final next and the McNairs have the upper hand. They send out KING TURBOand King Elvis, two supremely fast greyhounds, who have produced the fastest times in the competition. The withdrawal of Candlelight Fire is a blow for the purists but a fantastic race is still in store. Elvis to lead and Turbo to catch him?

8.51

A cracking stayers race now with impressive Notts winner Heroic Miss amongst the field, along with St Leger and Gold Collar finalist Bubbly Mccoy. Inch Forward runs on powerfully as a marathon star, but all might have to go to catch COOLAVANNY BEAR. Vicki Lea’s dog is best when dominating. His recent 500m trial at Notts (29.46sec) catches the eye.

9.08

So to the TV Trophy and a red-hot favourite in ROXHOLME MAGIC. She tends to drop herself out, but her heat success was brilliant and the fastest of the qualifiers - she can add the only missing link to her CV. The forecast? Perhaps Rubys Rascal. He has every chance of skipping clear, although so too has Shellam Delano. Millroad Smokey, Clares Kyletaun and Goldies Hotspur will also not be giving up. You pays your money . . .
