German Grand Prix

Recommended Posts

Qualifying: German Grand Prix Qualifying Hockenheim is the next stop for the Formula One season and Nico Rosberg will be hoping to protect his slim lead in the Drivers Championship on home soil. The young German had his first failure at Silverstone and team-mate Lewis Hamilton closed the gap to just 4pts. The tension between the two Mercedes drivers is boiling up nicely for the impartial spectator and something to keep the championship alive as we go into the second half of the season. Hamilton is 8/13 with Paddy Power to win his second World Championship while Rosberg is out to 6/4. The prices are pretty similar for the German Grand Prix but after Friday practice we saw Red Bull close to within a tenth of a second so is this where the other teams begin to close on the dominating Mercedes? One big factor in this sudden change could be the removal of all FRIC suspensions for this weekends Grand Prix. It is widely thought that although all teams would remove this type of suspension it would be the Mercedes that suffered most as they had taken the system to whole new level this season. As much as half a second a lap is thought to be the advantage of FRIC. Most teams were brushing aside the idea that they would be able to close in on the Silver Arrows but the first evidence is clear to see and it will be most interesting to watch qualifying on Saturday. Hockenheim suits the Red Bull team anyway so it maybe just worth having a little wager on Ricciardo or Vettel for pole position at such big prices. Vettel can be backed at 28/1 with BetVictor and his Aussie team mate at 28/1 with Skybet who went quickest of the pair in practice. A third of the odds for finishing second if you back them each way. Re: German Grand Prix So it looks like a straight forward task for Rosberg and hopefully Bottas and Massa wont get in each other’s way in behind and make a race of it for the neutrals. Magnussen is back in fourth, which is a tremendous result for McLaren especially when you consider Button didn’t even make Q3. Once again Ferrari were pretty hopeless and Red Bull were disappointing after showing some promise in practice, they start 5th and 6th and could press for the podium. Vettel will be pumped up for his home Grand Prix and is decent value at 4/1 for a top three place in a week where it’s difficult to find any. The Points market is ridiculous with 13 drivers at odds on for ten spots instead of the usual eleven so I’ll be swerving that this week.
