Re: Northern Trust Open > February 13th - 16th Charl Schwartzel 41 @ Bet365 Schwartzel is bigger than I was anticipating which is fantastic because he plays into a correlation that I'm quite high on, which is US Masters winners. Mickelson, Scott and Weir are players since 2000 who have won both events and other Northern Trust winners like Sabbatini and Mattiace both came 2nd at the Masters. Schwartzel came close last year to winning when 3rd so the course form is on the board and though he disappointed as favourite in Joburg last week he's been in generally decent nick and I see no reason why he should be less favoured than the likes of Rose and Watson.

Re: Northern Trust Open > February 13th - 16th Bill Haas 25/1 Betvictor . Good early season form player, and hasn't missed a cut for ages Cameron Tringale 110/1 bet365. Finding a bit of consistency at last , and worth a small wager Chesson Hadley 275/1 bet365 A player who is improving , and his short game could be a factor on hard to hit pin placements. EW fancy.

Welcome to the forums. Always nice to see a few new names pop in. GL with your bets. Just don't ask Aidy what he thinks of Tringale :lol

Re: Northern Trust Open > February 13th - 16th A top field and with no Woods/McIlroy/Lefty and incredibly open betting market. A little known fact I heard on Twitter last week is that Tiger Woods, who is local lad and was educated at Stanford University, ditched Riviera as part of his schedule, because its the only course that he played regularly and never won at! Strange and 100% true. Now Tiger in his prime was known for a power game and looking down the list of recent winners, 290 yard drives along the hard to hit fairways of Riviera are more than adequate. Merrick, Haas, Baddeley and Stricker are all average length drivers of the golf ball. So for me I'm going to follow Webb Simpson this week who on only 2 appearances has a Top 10 and a Top 20 to his credit. Bill Haas needs to start contending if he wants to make the US Ryder Cup team and both Pat Perez and Cameron Tringale have great chances at larger prices. Best of luck to all.

:lol:lol I'd sooner give the money to a charity than back him! :lol Welcome Grumpy Cabbie, agree it is great to see fresh blood! The young and highly talented Harris English should be more than capable of figuring in this weeks Northern Trust Open. The man from Georgia is a big hitter off the tee and that is very important here as the Par 5's are of utmost importance on this course, you simply have to birdie them as the Par 4's can be very tough. He won the Mayakoba Classic already this season and also had three more Top 10 finishes in the CIMB Classic, Sony Open and the Phoenix Open. He warrants plenty of respect this week and the 35/1 with Boylesports is very backable. Kevin Stadler is having the season of his life so far and his morale must be very high with a scoring average of 69.11 and now up to 58 in the world rankings. He is a terrible putter if truth be told but his tee to green play so far this season has been up there with the best. He won the Phoenix Open to get his first ever tour win, has yet to miss a cut this season and he has yet to miss the cut in this event which included T10 & T12 finishes. With the man in such fine fettle this season, he looks overpriced here at 80/1 with Bet365. Brian Stuard has yet to win on the PGA Tour but there is no doubt that the 31 year old from Michigan has at least a place squeak this weekend. He finished 2nd in the Mayakoba Classic this season and followed it up with a 6th place finish in the Sony Open and a 5th place finish in the Humana Challenge. His scoring average so far this year is 68.93 which is extremely impressive and he is currently ranked 10th in the Fedex Cup standings. He may not win this weekend but for me he is a good each-way price at 125/1 with Sky Bet. Harris English - 1 Point each-way @ 35/1 Boylesports Kevin Stadler - 1 Point each-way @ 80/1 Bet365 Brian Stuard - 1 Point each-way @ 125/1 Sky Bet

Re: Northern Trust Open > February 13th - 16th Tournament preview: 1pt ew G.DeLaet to win Northern Trust Open 22/1 Betfred (1/4 1-5) Graham DeLaet has finished runner up both times he has teed it up in 2014 and that elusive win can’t be far away now for someone who drives the ball so well and hits a lot of greens. He just needs a few more putts to drop and things will fall into place for him. He was very unlucky not to be in a playoff in the Farmers Insurance a couple of weeks ago but he looks in good form tee to green which is vital around here and I think he can win this one. Re: Northern Trust Open > February 13th - 16th Top American preview: 1pt ew B.Haas Top American 20/1 Paddy Power (1/4 1-4) Bill Haas won this tournament in 2012 and he was third last season too when he led going into the final round so he is someone who knows his way around Riviera and needs to start picking up big results if he is to get himself in the thoughts of Tom Watson or even in his team. Haas is a straight hitter of the golf ball and if he can give the putts a good roll he is capable of beating the rest of the Americans here. Re: Northern Trust Open > February 13th - 16th Top European preview: 1pt ew J.Luiten Top European 11/1 Stan James (1/5 1-4) Victor Dubuisson has been in good form for a while but I’m going for another man from the continent here. With fairways and greens hard to hit even though he hasn’t played many tournaments in the States the course should play right into the hands of the Dutchman. Luiten is as good a striker of the ball as there is in Europe and his stock rises every time he tees it up. Luiten is one of the better players on the European Tour and rarely misses fairways or greens and at 11/1 I think he’s an excellent chance of topping the European leaderboard here. Re: Northern Trust Open > February 13th - 16th One more: Keegan Bradley @ 31 Sportingbet (Each way 1/4, 1-2-3-4-5) In his career so far Bradley has on 8 occasions finished in the Top 3, winning 3. What's interesting though is that there is a strong emerging trend of Bradley excelling on certain courses. Let's break it down: PGA Championship: Won in 2011, 3rd in 2012, 19th in 2013. Granted, this event isn't played on the same course, but I dare say they'd be set up fairly similarly and are comparably difficult. HP Byron Nelson Championship: Won in 2011, 24th in 2012, 2nd in 2013. Same course both years, and I feel a good indication that if a course suits Bradley's eye he'll get repeated good results. WGC Bridgestone International: 15th in 2011, Won in 2012, 2nd in 2013. Again, same course for both events. Arnold Palmer Invitational: MC in 2011, DNP 2012, 3rd in 2013. Not exactly a repeat, but with no entry into this event in 2012 I can forgive it. Northern Trust Open (This week's event): MC in 2011, Playoff 2nd in 2012, 16th in 2013. So basically, in the 5 different events that Bradley has finished 2nd or 3rd in an event, on 3 occasions he has won that event in a different year. For me that really says something about what we can read into Bradley's game when he plays a course well and given he's drifted from inside 30 to just outside, I'm more than happy to jump on board. Going each way which is unusual for me simply for the reasons I just stated.
