Dammo Qwirky
Re: Cricketing Capers Aside from his captainly influence, do u lot think England would be a vastly better one day team with someone else in the team other than vaughan? eg bell. vaughan cant bat in the one day form and makes some horrendous and costly fielding errors. Does anyone have any statistics on Englands wins and losses with and without Vaughan in ODIs in the last year or two?
swooperman
Re: Cricketing Capers Michael Vaughan captained his first ODI on 17/6/03, & his captaincy record is: m45, w24, l15, t2, nr4 his batting stats overall throughout his ODI career are: m71, i68, no's9, rs1655, hs90*, avg28.05, 14x50, 7x0 his batting stats whilst captain are: m45, i43, no's8, rs1091, hs90*, avg31.17, 9x50, 5x0 He makes a 50 every 4.857 visits to the crease overall, which lengthens to 5 as captain Vaughan has missed 4 ODI's during this spell, all captained by Trescothick, who captained 1 before Vaughan took over also. Trescos captaincy record is: m5, w3, l2 (1 win pre-Vaughan) Trescos stats whilst captain read: m5, i's5, no's1, rs242, hs114*, avg60.5, 1x100 + 1x50, 1x0 Personally I dont think Tresco is a stronger captain or anything like, & I havent compared the entire team but I wouldnt mind betting he is our most influential ODI batsman, so giving him the captaincy would be fool hardy IMO. I think Vaughan is too good a player to leave out, regardless of his supposed 'failings' @ ODI level, he is a class act that scares opponents & I think his record is just an anonamoly (sp?). I also dont think that England would even dream of upsetting the apple cart @ the moment & taking it off him & he will stay in charge until at least the 2007 World Cup barring a resignation, because I cannot see him being sacked at all. On top of all that, if Tresco is the apparent successor the fact he put the Aussies in at Chester-Le-Street in the day/nighter doesnt help his cause.....whether entirely his decision or not
