Re: Johnstones Paint Trophy > Tuesday October 8th 3pts Notts Co (+0.75AH) to beat Wolves 2.05 Bet365 Both sides will be without players for this match but you would think the match would mean more to Notts County than it would Wolves. Wolves are all about getting promoted this season and you can’t blame them for that. Notts County look like they’ll be safely in mid table this season when they settle down a bit so this is a chance to get something out of their season. Wolves are way too short to me at 4/6 so taking the visitors on the handicap looks the way forward. Re: Johnstones Paint Trophy > Tuesday October 8th Morecombe vs Carlisle The bet: Back Carlisle @ 3.00 Reason: We have a new manager in Graham Kavanagh who knows all the players well, as he was the previous assistant. The difference is, he is much more apt than Greg Abbott was and knows which subs to use and when and how to change formations in order to make an impact. He is unbeaten so far, and has strengthened the squad the last few weeks with a couple of decent loan signings. Miller might be out, but Kav is trying to get Amoo to become a striker rather than a winger. I think the bookies have priced Carlisle too high today and they should be closer to 2.2 to win. Bet strength: 4/10

Word of warning here. 90%+ of Wolves fans want to win this trophy due to a historic moment at Wembley when they lifted it in the late 80s (Wembleys biggest attendance to date for something other than an international or F.A Cup match) and see it as an amazing opportunity to go to Wembley. Talisman Sako will not feature due to being 'ill' after Wolves shunned Nottingham Forest's approaches to take him on loan. There is indeed an article in the paper today about the manager urging us to go to Wembley and win it. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2013/10/08/wembley-the-target-as-kenny-jackett-calls-for-wolves-success/ Wolves do not play this weekend due to international call ups so I see no reason to rest any players. I agree with you that while 4/6 is a bit short I think there are safer bets than taking Nott's County.

Re: Johnstones Paint Trophy > Tuesday October 8th Preston vs Oldham = Preston win @ 10/11 with William Hill Strength - 6/10 Price is slipping here but I still think it represents value. Preston have been incredibly strong at home this year in general. They don't concede many there and have taken out higher opposition in cup matches this year too. Oldham are coming off the back of a strong point vs the league leader Orient but have been inconsistent this season and I'd expect more than half the time to see a home win here.

Re: Johnstones Paint Trophy > Tuesday October 8th Evening lads!!! I got a cheeky 4 games accumulator that I want to share with you: Sheffield United v Hartlepool - Hartlepool to score 3 or more goals @12/1 [PaddyPower] Hartlepool trashed Bradford 5-0 in the first stage of the competition and Sheffield UTD are just awful atm. 12/1 ??? Why not !!! ;) Wolves v Notts County - over 3,5 goals @8/5 [PaddyPower] I see an open game and hopefully some goals in this one. York City v Rotherham - York City to win @11/5 [PaddyPower] York City won the last two games (away at Torquay 0-3 and at home to Portsmouth 4-2). Rotherham are doing well in League 1 sitting in the 9th place 7 points behind the leaders Leyton Orient. Rotherham manager said that he will make 5 changes for this game. York City beat Rotherham 0-1 in the same competition last year and I expect to do so again. I expect Rotherham to try for a back-to-back promotions and that's why I am going for a home win. Alfreton v Chester - over 3,5 goals @29/20 [PaddyPower] I just looked at some stats and this game screams goals. Last 4 home games for Alfreton finished (3-2, 3-1, 1-1 and 3-1). Last 4 away games for Chester finished (2-1, 3-2, 3-1, 0-2). Chester are indeed bad travellers but they they scored at least once in their last 5 away games. Alfreton should win but I expect Chester to score at least one goal. I know this is the wrong tread for Alfreton's game but I wanted to share it with you guys (in case it comes in). :) Total Odds: @264/1 [£5 - returns -£1324] :p

Just a thought - but whenever I see phrases like 'word of warning' on this board it nearly always seems to be a false alarm ... No doubt Wolves fans to 'want to win' the trophy, but I'm sure they would much rather get promotion, and might even see it as an advantage to be able to focus on it if they get knocked out of the cup competitions. I agree with Kevshat that the odds just look too short on Wolves, therefore it is better value to bet on Notts County tonight. County have had a few wins recently, and there will be no pressure on them here.

Re: Johnstones Paint Trophy > Tuesday October 8th Peterborough v Brentford I think Brentford are a good price here. Peterborough have a great home record this season, but this is a cup competition. Brentford have been in good form, and from my calculations have better recent shots on target stats than Peterborough, meaning they may have been playing a bit better. Brentford have won their last two away games. Brentford +0.5 2.27 Pinnacle

Re: Johnstones Paint Trophy > Tuesday October 8th Morecambe v Carlisle Carlisle have been in great form recently and look decent value here to me. I think Carlisle will be taking a few fans to this game as it's one of the nearest grounds for them to get to. Carlisle are a league higher, and are unbeaten in their last three games at Morecambe. Carlisle AH0 2.21 sbobet
