That's got to be on of the poorest prices of an away side you'll see all season for Pompey. I suppose one saving grace is that we're playing Stanley who were hammered 4-1 by Newport on Saturday. Still looks too short though given our issues in defence. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using PL Forum

i was very angry with portsmouth last week. i was lead to believe they were good team but apparently after digging some more they are infact very crap. i will not be backing portsmouth again this season.
How were you lead to believe that?

I thought it was just bookmakers that did insane overreactions after just one game :lol

I know as a pompey fan you are far better placed than i jase......but I am a firm believer in taking a team that has been embarrassed to bounce back the following week. I remember norwich a few years back getting done sonething like 5-1 at home and then winning nicely the second game away from home. I thought it was a reasonable price as would likely have been odds on had you won on saturday. Bounce back theory. Point to prove. Just a theory but i think i may take portsmouth this weekend Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2

It's an interesting theory and I wish you luck :) ...... I just think when we're talking of price I think something around three is appropriate for us, and you could probably argue Tuesday was our bounce back game. We played better at Bournemouth but the main positive for me was the form of Phil Smith in goal, who made a number of saves. Bondz N'gala should get a run out in defence, and he may give us more presence if he can establish himself. The guy's a colossus! Up front it wouldn't surprise me if we saw different pairing as we look for our most fruitful combination. (Things we should have done in pre season!)

Re: League 2 > Sat 10th August My worry with Pompey is that because they're a huge club and have the feelgood factor after the fans' takeover, people are overrating the quality of their squad and, particularly, their manager. His track record is shocking, notwithstanding the circumstances in which he took over. My hunch is to look to take Portsmouth on this season, certainly while Whittingham remains in charge. But not against Accrington. I'll avoid this one.

Re: League 2 > Sat 10th August Some interesting opinions on the early game. I've taken Portsmouth to score >1.5 goals at 13/8 with Stan James. More like a 7/5 shot on my assessment and shorter than that in most places (with some 6/4 on offer). The away team managed to do so in 11 of Accrington's 23 home games last season and Portsmouth managed it in 9 of their home games in League 1. A bigger price and, in my view, a better option than the straight bet on an away win.

Re: League 2 > Sat 10th August 4pts Accrington vs Portsmouth - Over 2.5 goals 11/10 BetVictor Defences aren’t the best for both these sides so I expect to see a few goals in this match. Accrington have nothing to lose here and will give it all they’ve got but while Portsmouth might leak a few goals for a little while they certainly have the firepower to score them so I believe there will be goals in this game. I’m very surprised over 2.5 is odds against but it looks good to me. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/accrington-vs-portsmouth-betting-expect-to-see-goals-in-the-lunchtime-kick-off

Chesterfield @ evens looks a fair bet. Available through Ladbrokes and Coral. Chesterfield are looking good for promotion this season as they easily dispatched Bury on day one 2-0 away. I can't see Cheltenham being strong enough away to keep them out having conceded twice at home to Burton on day one and three times at home to Crawley midweek. Cheltenham aren't huge promotion contenders for me and losing Marlon Pack in pre season to Bristol City. Jamie Cureton has also been ruled out through injury. As the season goes on the odds here will not be seen too much for Chesterfield at home. Chesterfield have a pretty impressive record against Cheltenham too having won five out of the last six home head to heads. Bristol Rovers V Scunthorpe Over 2.5 goals @ 2 - bet365. I can see a fair amount of goals scored this weekend in League Two and I fancy this to be no different. With Rovers' injury problems mounting up I think they will find it difficult to cope with Scunthorpe. I make Scunthorpe marginal favourites here so can see both sides finding the net as Rovers struggle.
