Re: Bundesliga 2 Outright I've been reading some German newspapers recently and Union Berlin (49/1) and Energie Cottbus (19/1) seem to really fancy their chances this season after finishing 7th and 8th last season and making improvements to their squads over summer. Week 1 Sandausen should have been relegated last season but stay in the division on a technicality, unless something has been lost in translation it seems it has only been confirmed in the last few weeks which division they will actually be playing in - it sounds as though they were preparing the squad to play in Bundesliga 3, the media is also tipping them to be relegated again this season. On that basis, I managed to get Aalen at 9/5 last night (around 7/5 now) for the away win. I read a quote from Koln manager that he will only play 1 holding midfielder this season (they played 2 last season) and look to excite the fans, I've took a chance that their game will go Over 2.5 goals at even money - its odds on with most firms.

Re: Bundesliga 2 Yes, definitely. Both Union Berlin and Energie Cottbus did some good improvements in signing good players. Aalen have financial problems and were lucky to have got a licence to remain in the league and therefore had to lower their budget. Koln's new manager is the former coach of Austria Vienna, the team that he led to the championship last season. But still, huge pressure in Koln for any manager. Many managers leave after a few months or a season or get sacked. There are certainly several teams that are eyeing promotion this season.

Re: Bundesliga 2 Sandhausen - Aalen DRAW (3.32 at Pinnacle) Fancy a very tight affair here. Aalen seem to have an edge due to some better results in last season's campaign, but generally speaking there's no difference in class between the sides. Neither side takes too much of risk in the game, and with Aalen not being the most creative side around, I really can't see the visitors being able to put Sandhausen under big pressure here. Sandhausen strengthened their defense with Slovakian national team player Radoslav Zabavnik(Mainz) and they have what it takes to keep the match tight and make it extremely hard for Aalen without a doubt.

Player for player, they're actually even a better side than Aalen at the moment. I'm not sure about Union Berlin. They're heavily relying on home form, so it's hard to see them going all the way with such a poor away record. It's always the same when it comes to this team. Traditionally a pure force in front of home crowd, but quite simply no better than rubbish away from home. That's the way it is for years, plus their squad doesn't impress that much. Can't see any value in them. As for Energie Cottbus, at the price around 19.00, they're a cracking deal IMO. I just can't believe they're rated lower than Munchen, St.Pauli or Koln!? They did lose some of their key players this summer, like Sorensen(32-33 years old, so he's no big loss) or Adlung, but they've still got a great squad this season as they managed to keep most of their stars, plus they've boosted the squad with some cracking signings, like Slovakian national team forward Jendrisek(26 years old) or ex-St.Pauli star and captain Takyi (28 years old), Swedish youngster Amin Affane has also joined the team, from Chelsea, after his loan spell at Roda, etc...All in all, the squad is filled with very good and very proven players...a bunch of well known names(Brzenska, Mohrle, Banovic, Kruska, Sanogo, Brinkmann,...), so they definitely have what it takes to push for the promotion. After all, Cottbus still have a reputation of top 2.Bundesliga side. They're always strong at home, well capable of beating anyone away from home, so with some good and positive start to the campaign, they could prove to be a very serious promotion contenders. Their squad is among the best in the league IMO, if not the best after Lautern's squad. Maybe you should make a bet on Cottbus to promote, if there's any bookie with this offer. It would be a lot safer and more valuable as I still feel that Lautern will finish on the top of the table come May. :) When it comes to Sunday's matches, I'm going with Greuther Furth/Arminia Bielefeld OVER 2.5(1.92 at Pinnacle)! I can't say I'm completely confident about this one as Arminia have got a very balanced team, plus they were playing some tight and low-scoring matches in 3.Liga last season. It still remains to be seen whether they'll be able to play the same way in 2.Bundesliga. Anyway, the bet is based mostly on pre-season results of both Furth and Arminia and also on the fact that Furth are traditionally fully concentrated on offense in home matches. Greuther Furth have looked so brutal in the recent friendlies, having trashed everyone on their way, including 6:2 win over Celtic, 3:0 win over Slavia Prague, 1:0 win over Plzen,...On the other hand, Arminia have also played some high-scoring matches: 2:2 vs.Austria Wien, 3:3 vs.PSV Eindhoven...One way or another, Furth will surely go all out to win this one, so I can see them throwing pretty much everything on Arminia from very first minute and pushing the match into a high-scoring affair.

Thanks for the info! :) :ok I didn't check the team news...Backed the over bet by default as I feel that Furth are almost certain to start very aggressive and offensive here. :) Furth's Djurdjic seems to be on fire already, so it's gonna be very hard for Arminia to keep the hosts quiet. (According to some sources, Celtic have made an official offer for Djurdjic, so he still might be on his way out) I'm also looking forward to Mudrinski and his first official match for Greuther Furth(if he gets an opportunity!?). :) He's an amazing target man in my opinion and was in cracking form when he joined Red Star, but RS coach Sa Pinto, for some reason, benched him in the second part of the season, so he lost both form and confidence. However, being only 21, he still has plenty of time to prove his class. I feel Furth's attacking style of play will suit him perfectly well, especially if he gets used in the right way.

He will be playing now for Schalke. Overall looks like Bochum also this season will again fight to avoid relegation. Union Berlin is very strong at home. Last season team won 10 out of 17 home games, and only the bad road record destroyed their chances for promotion. Team has not lost important players in this break, and should surely fight again for promotion to Bundesliga also this campaign. Union Berlin has won the last 12 out of 15 home games in all competitions! Team has won also the last 4 of 5 home games against Bochum. The hosts should win this game.

I saw Union last week against Celtic Glasgow. Okay Celtic not so far as Union it was at this time. But what i saw, was good Football from Union with good Pressing and creating some Chances. Kreilach, Eggimann and specially Brandy show very good form. Union can in my opinion made a suprise this season and take a Place around 2-5. Bochum lost lot of Key Players, specially the best Player of the League, Goretzka, who is transferd to Schalke. They also lost Dedic, Dabrowski, Kramer and Rzatkowski. All important Players. To Bochum joined Tiffert, who was with no club since February. So i think they need more time to come in form. Also Sukuta Pasu was ne for Attacking. But this guy is no Scorer, like Dedic. IMO, they've got one of the best squads in the league this season, arguably the best (surely the most proven) attacking line with players like Boubacar Sanogo and Erik Jendrisek, and according to latest news, both Sanogo and Jendrisek are almost certain to start up front, they've just signed one of the best midfielders at this level - former St.Pauli star Charles Takyi who's going to add plenty of quality in midfield, alongside skipper Kruska and French winger Farina, their defense looks as solid as always, lead by one of the best 2.Bundesliga defenders Uwe Mohrle and former Borussia Dormund hope Markus Brzenska, while they've got a new goalkeeper - Austrian national team player Robert Almer who joined the club exactly from Fortuna. All in all, a very, very balanced team that is more than capable of going all the way in the promotion battle in my opinion. Ivica Banovic is going to miss the match through injury, while new signing Buljat is still serving some suspension from his former club, so he's not going to make his debut today. Aside from that, Cottbus should be able to field a very good lineup. Fortuna are simply overrated here. They've got a decent team without a doubt and will surely be one of the promotion contenders, but one way or another they're nowhere near being such a big favs in this fixture IMO. They've got a lot deeper squad than Cottbus indeed, but when it comes to starting eleven of both sides, I find a lot more of class and experience in this Cottbus side who's filled with players who experienced football at pretty much all levels.

Re: Bundesliga 2 On the draw @ 3.66. Fortuna is overrated because of their solid home record in Bundesliga up until the last weeks, and their solid home record in 2.Bund the year before. Cottbus 3-7-7 away last season...though they may not play the same way this season, I note that they have been one of the top teams in getting draws the past two seasons.
