Simmy's flat/jumps thread 2013

Re: Simmy's flat/jumps thread 2013 Bit closer but how unlucky was this horse? Dwelt again when leaving the stalls but travelled well until the jockey lost the irons and still almost got the horse up to win so credit to him for that!

Re: Simmy's flat/jumps thread 2013 21:20 Wolverhampton Norwegian Reward has donemost of his running on the all weather and after a couple of poor effort's on turf he returns to the all weather off a mark just 1lb higher than his last win which came at the tail end of last year. This 5 year old hit a rich vein of form in December last year, notching up two wins and two places from four runs during that month. Since then he has only posted one placed effort from five runs since. He is dropped 3lbs from his last run and he also drops down in class today which are two factors that should aid this horses chances of getting back in the winners enclosure. De Sousa also takes back over in the saddle and he knows this horse well having been on board three times previously and winning on one of those occasions. 4pt win Norwegian Reward @ 6/1 (Will Hill - BOG)

  • 5 weeks later...

Re: Simmy's flat/jumps thread 2013 I've not given up on this, moved flat 4 weeks ago and have finally just got internet in, probably have one or two selections today and will update figures at some point over the coming days. Probably looks like I packed it in due to a dry spell but this isn't the case.

Re: Simmy's flat/jumps thread 2013 15:05 Beverley Hughie Morrison's string aren't in the best of form at the moment with only one winner in the past week but the fact he just sends the one horse to Beverley today is an indicator that he fancies the chances of his 3 year old Josefa Goya who makes her turf and handicap debut today having had just the two previous efforts so far, both of which came on the all weather. Her debut effort was a shade disappointing, finishing 4/5 at Lingfield over 6 furlongs before going on to win a 12 runner maiden race at Wolverhampton over the minimum trip last time out just 17 days ago. The form of that race isn't likely to be much to shout about in the future at all but off an opening mark of 67, she should go close at the very least in my opinion. 2pt E/W Josefa Goya @ 6/1 (WillHill - 1/5 odds 1,2,3)

Re: Simmy's flat/jumps thread 2013 14:40 Newcastle Fieldgunner Kirkup is the one that catches my eye in this class 4 handicap over 7 furlongs. David Barron's 5 year old gelding finally looks set to get the ground conditions he relishes in having ran on ground described as good or firmer than good on his last five runs since winning at Redcar in good to soft ground back in April. This win came off a mark of 82 and having been raised 5lbs for that up to a mark of 87, he is back down to a mark of 83 today which he should have no trouble going close off of. All four of his other wins have come on ground described as soft, good to soft or good ground so it's clear he acts much better when the ground has a bit of juice in it. The jockey Graham Gibbons takes the ride today again and this is a horse he knows how to win on having been on board for three of this horses five wins. Fieldgunner Kirkup is also a previous course and distance winner, he won a class 5 handicap here in very impressive fashion last year, running out a 3 and 3/4 length winner. David Barron has his string in very good form at the minute and the fact this is the only horse he sends to the meeting today is another positive for me. 3pt win Fieldgunner Kirkup @ 6/1 (WillHill - BOG)

Re: Simmy's flat/jumps thread 2013 15:45 Pontefract Marco Botti's lightly raced 3 year old March has been improving in each of her six starts to date and gets my vote to land her fourth victory of her career. She took three attempts as a two year old to get off the mark in maiden company with 4th and 3rd placed finishes over 6 furlongs at Doncaster and Kempton respectively, before going on to win at Beverley when dropped back to 5 furlongs for the first time. Her final start as a 2 year old came at Nottingham in a class 4 nursery again over 5 furlongs where she made a mockery of her opening mark of 76, running out a 1 and three quarter length victor after quickening up well inside the final furlong. She was raised 6lbs for her win at Nottingham and duly obliged off her new mark of 82 in a small field at Windsor on her reappearance back in May where she beat a field of 5 by half a length. This was again over the minimum trip and she was then stepped up to listed level at Sandown just 19 days later where she put in a valiant effort by finishing just a neck behind Morawij who was rated 19lbs higher yet March was only running off 7lbs below her rival in the weights. This was a great run considering she was the lowest rated horse in the race off 86. March was then stepped up into group company and also stepped back up to 6 furlongs at York last time out where she again produced a very sound effort finishing 3/11. She was only beaten by 1 and three quarters of a length and considering this was her first effort against all ages and she was once again one of the lowest rated horses in the race, it was a cracking run. She was also hampered at the start of the race and the fact she recovered from that by staying on late in the day suggests she should be winning a race soon if she can stay trouble free. 5pt win March @ 3/1 (WillHill - BOG)
