He has an excellent record in all European competitions and with him leaving in the summer he would love another Europa League title to boost his CV for future work. Steaua won’t be easy to crack but I think we might see the best of Chelsea here and having seen how they destroyed United in the second half on Sunday, if they can repeat that here they should progress. They'll pick a strong side hopefully as Rafa will want to go out with a bang and win a trophy for his CV, and he's got a good European record. I predict a hammering like we saw Chelsea do against weak European opposition in the CL (6-1 v Nordsjælland and a good 3-2 over Shakhtar) earlier in the season. Steaua's Chairman's derogatory comments about Chelski should also fire them up a bit. Of course Chelsea is class above and have a better players etc. But romanians are very organized defensively, and have what to aim for today too. + 1st leg result isn't that Chelsea must score from the begining ... i think that it would be an under game here. gl all!

However Benitez announced stongest team for tonight and he said he won't be picking between Premier league and European games - both are equaly important. They also miss two players for Demba Ba is ineligible for EL and young Romeu is injured. On the other hand Steaua is very inspired after last game and they come to Stanford Bridge without any issues. All key players are ready for this match and we can say that they already won domestic league title so this game is all they must think about. If i had to i'd go for Steaua but i think it will be very tight match. I'd rather skip this one ;)

Thanks in advance.[/quote'] Romanians miss Gabi Matei (right-defender, unimportant) and striker Nikolici (played with Ajax, but unimportant as well). Rusescu(the team's top goalscorer) used to play behind the main striker(Nikolici usually, or Rocha), similar to Rooney behind Van Persie at Man Utd. He started as main striker in Bucharest, got the penalty thanks to Bertrand, will start in same position at Stamford Bridge as well. Steaua will be with its best possible line-up, no really important missings. 4-2-3-1 formation. It should be noted that Steaua rarely concedes at home, but on the road they are much more likely to concede goals, this week-end they won 4-3 at Ceahlaul in the league with a couple of reserves it's true. Playing at home is very important to Steaua, was quite obvious agiinst Ajax, losing 2-0 away and winning 2-0 at home. Chelsea suffers a lot from the fact Benitez is forced to play with Torres up-front, he is harmless. Also Steaua defends aggresively, one can bet in this game on quite a couple of yellow cards being shown to Steaua's players, possibly even a red card if Steaua will be trailing. My personal feelings regarding this game are that Steaua is not well aligned to qualify. They won 1-0 the first leg, now they've become favorites here in Romania and everyone already sees them qualified. This is because of poor Romanian mentality, and I'm not talking about players, but of fans, chairman, staff as well. Truth is Chelsea looked like a team coming from Mars while Steaua knew what they wanted from the start in the first leg. The second half with Man Utd, most surely improved morale in the Chelsea camp, and after recovering a small miracle, an easier one looks like a doable thing here as well. It will depend a lot on who starts this game for Chelsea. Mata, Ramires, maybe Moses. Maybe Torres will let go of his feminine side in this game and man-up. Fact is this smells like qualification for Chelsea. Steaua really does not pose much threat up-front, which was evident in the first leg. They usually score from indiviual strikes, long range efforts, set pieces, sometimes counters. The main strength of Steaua is defense, which is definitely weaker away from home as they can not impose their same possesion style as they do at home. Cech is a great goalkeeper, conceded from a penalty but was not bothered for the entire first leg. Maybe he will be a bit more busy here, but I expect him to take care of the clean sheet. My picks would be : Chelsea to win to nil Chelsea to score in both halves Chelsea to qualify further

Re: Chelsea v Steaua Bucuresti > Thu 14th March Steaua may seem the weaker team, but the team they got now, is very talented, you say Steaua didn't show anything at Bucharest, but seriously we cannot even say that Chelsea showed anything, they were blocked easily and Steaua victory was fully deserved, Chelsea are not doing well right now, they are non on top of their form, while steaua is, and in europa league, it doesn't really matter that Chelsea has a value of 400mil and steaua only 50mil, the only thing that matters is the motivation and the team's form, and Steaua is well ahead here!
