Thursday 24th Jan Flat Meetings

Recommended Posts

I haven't had a clue how to use topspeed figures so going to give it a whirl today. 14.45 Ling - Paperetto comes out top for this race. Has finished 2nd last 2 runs over CD. Up 2lbs for last race when beaten by a head to Al's Memory who went up 4lbs and went onto win again by a length and 3/4. If BF pay off should go very close with 7lb claimer Ryan Tate onboard. 1pt win 5/1 victor chandler

Re: Thursday 24th Jan Flat Meetings 16:00 Kempton - West Leake - Last win was off a 9lb higher mark than this but has been improving with each run. 4/20 at course has won over distance and hopefully will improve that bit more. 1pt 7/2 W Hills. 19:35 Kempton - Baby Dottie - Stands out on topspeed figures here but 5/2 for a horse that has only won 2/28 runs doesn't look like value. But hey ho shall stick to trial. 6length winner off same mark in a Apprentice handicap last week. Ran 2 days ago as a 4/7F and beaten by a distance hopefully BF will help 1pt win 5/2 Will Hill

Re: Thursday 24th Jan Flat Meetings 4.15 Meydan - 1pt win Oasis Dancer @ 16/1 (Bet365) Kevin Ryan's horses appear to be going a bit better now than when this one made his stable debut a couple of weeks ago and the drop back to 6f looks ideal from a decent draw in stall 3. He relishes the polytrack surface and over 6f on the all-weather his record reads 7111. He's won readily off 4lbs lower and has a listed win under his belt and hopefully can bounce back to form here. Lost his way a touch last season and could only manage 9th of 14 on his yard debut here. However, that was his first effort for three months and should strip fitter now. Kieren Fallon remains on board and this horse's hot spell came at this time of year. Conditions suit here and if he comes on for his last run, with the yard's last few horses running well, he could be overpriced at 16/1 in this event.

Re: Thursday 24th Jan Flat Meetings 15:15 Ling - King George River to place - 2.00 (betfair) (2 places payed) This is a huge odd from my point of view (at paddy for example you'll get just around 1,53 for this place bet). Was very promising LTO when being at the debut for new stable and should improve once again after the 1 month break. Has the best speed on this track, likes the distance and has a big market support, think connections are supporting this one big time. Philip Prince on of the best apprentice jockeys is ridding it... claiming an extra 7 lbs.

Re: Thursday 24th Jan Flat Meetings 15.05 Meydan: Mushreq @ 10/1 Paddy Power - 1pt win Just a small punt here on the De Kock runner Mushreq. It's a wide open race in my mind and Mushreq should be much sharper with his most recent run here at Meydan under his belt. He has form over this sort of trip, ran some fine races back home in South Africa, for example finishing 5th to Jackson in the Grade 1 Cape Derby last year, and I just feel he's a bit overpriced here. Worth a try for a big price in my mind.

Oh dear, no luck whatsoever for Mushreq. Probably would have won with a clear run, travelled so well... next time...

Great pick regardless of the result... Would u be better off concentrating on the SA, foreign stuff!? Don't mean that rudely - u just for seem to get much wrong in that sphere!

Re: Thursday 24th Jan Flat Meetings 16.15 Meydan: Kavanagh @ 10/1 Bet365 - 1pt win Can't deny myself a small bet on Kavanagh who really stands out in terms of class in this field. His best form comes over 7f and he even has been running well over a mile but make no mistake this horse has loads of speed, as to win the Grade 2 Hawaii Stakes at Turffontein over 1.400m you surely need speed -loads of it. He's been running well in Grade 1 company as well and usually goes well fresh. So there should be something about his chance here today I feel as well as the De Kock runners are starting to find their real form, so It'd be no surprise if Kavanagh is ready to run a big race today.

Actually not betting much on foreign racing, apart of SA. Meydan today is just a bit of fun as I'm off work, lying with a cold in bed actually. But I do really love my SA racing, and therefore included it into my betting a while ago as it works pretty well overall for me (not this week though), concentrating on certain races. Think two of my BBOTD winners last week came from RSA if I remember it right. Started two weeks a go a personal RSA thread as well, goes not too badly atm: http://forum.punterslounge.com/threads/136839-robertob-s-South-Africa-Thread :)

Re: Thursday 24th Jan Flat Meetings King George placed (2nd) so I'm hoping for another winning bet... 7.05 Kemp Kakatosi place @ 3/4 (betfair) This one has also changed stables and had a winner on debut. LTO it had a difficult draw and couldn't really handle it, that's the reason for such a bad placing....but he wasn't that far away to be honest. My biggest concern is regarding the track, as it's last to attempts where at wolves and ling...but this one is being balanced by the fact the besides lastking non off the horse could be called a kempton specialist. The mark shouldn't be a problem as it used to be a class 1 horse, but was relegated after the bad form in 2012. Draw 1 is perfect today, so we won't see the trouble from his last run. Speed is one of the best, so an effort close to the one at ling would be more than enough for a place position. One of the market favorites is lastking... but I think it had already his highest mark and it can't handle so much weight. One of the outsiders I do like is Lujeanie, but the bad draw is keeping me away from it, and makes me more confident about my choice.
