Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem, North & South Dec 15-16 Eastleigh at home to Billericay Town (6/5 BetVics) Even given the startling underperformance by Eastleigh this season (not one of my better antepost tips), I see no reason why they should be this far out. They have a few injury issues to contend with, but even so form is not too bad at home, with five successive wins before the defeat to a much-superior Welling. They also competed pretty well with ten men in the defeat at Dover. Billericay have shown flashes of good stuff but they don't often happen away from home - straddling the excellent win at Bromley, they've been conceded 3, 4 and 5 at, respectively, Boreham Wood, Dover and Welling. Eastleigh aren't as good as those sides, but they are decent enough to take at this price.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet Prem, North & South Dec 15-16 Stalybridge Celtic v Workington The home side are looking pretty poor at the moment and many fans are calling for a change of manager. I think the fans need to bear in mind Jim Harvey is having to rebuild again as he did a couple of season ago. Workington aren’t anything special either, but they are in much better shape than Celtic at the moment and are definitely worth an interest at 9/5 with BetVictor. Vauxhall Motors v Gloucester City The home side provided us with a decent price winner last Saturday but I am opposing them with my own side this weekend. My initial view before I saw the prices was actually to back Motors as City were pretty bad against Workington last week, but a couple of things have changed my mind. The first was the prices as I really do struggle to see why Motors should be odds on to beat a team who are at least as good as and possibly even slightly better than them. The other was that City have brought in couple of loan players from Cheltenham this week including a winger which is something they desperately need. There is no way City should be as big as 13/5 (Blue Square) and they have to be backed at those odds. AFC Hornchurch v Basingstoke This is slightly risky as Basingstoke have only won once on their travels this season, but I am fairly certain they are capable of being a lot higher than 21^st in the Blue Square South and with a big win last Saturday against Tonbridge, I think they may go on a little run which will see them rise quickly up the table given how tight it is. If they do win they will go above their hosts who I think are much more likely to struggle this season and shouldn’t be as short as they are for this. The away side are worth backing at 9/5 with BetVictor. Eastleigh v Billericay I am also opposing the other team to be promoted from the Ryman Premier this season in Billericay. It is fair to say that Eastleigh have been a big disappointment this season given how strong their team is and given that I backed them ante-post it is frustrating they are so far off the pace. What is worth pointing out though is how strong their home form has been and six of their seven victories have been at home. With that in mind and given they are playing a Billericay side who struggle away and aren’t as good as Eastleigh, I can’t believe the home side are as big as 23/20 (Blue Square) to gain three points. I make them the bet of the weekend.

There's a case to be made for Alty today as they seem to have tightened up a touch in recent games. What puts me off is that Brackley have excellent delivery from wide areas - the kind of weapons that have shown up Alty's defence this season. On balance, though, I wouldn't make them that high. Boreham Wood are definitely better away - they are more effective when they can operate on the counter and once again there is case to be made for them. I've been bearish about Farnborough for most of the season but I have called them wrong quite a bit recently as they have been very effective with a stable side. 9/5 is probably a touch high about Wood but it's not one for me. Staines/Weston is an interesting one. Staines have been awful recently but that's largely because they've been missing key performers. Of those, two played a part last week in the defeat at Havant, and I don't think it will be long before they get some decent results. (Garrod and Wheeler should start today.) Weston have been a touch flattered by the points return in the past six weeks I think, but they have definitely improved from early season. I'd say on balance that there is some speculative value in Staines.

Decent day for me at this level as well with Gloucester City scoring an injury time winner (not surprisingly made me rather happy) and Workington had an easy win as well.
