NAGANO Nagano has hit a rich vein of form since setting out on a career over fences and the Ian Williams-trained gelding has a great chance of completing a hattrick when he turns out at Warwick in the 3.00. The ex-French seven-year-old hardly set the racing world alight in a short stint over hurdles, but it has been a diffrerent story since his switch to the bigger obstacles this season. Second at Bangor on his chasing debut in November, Nagano ran twice the following month and won both times, showing just the sort of progress that punters can latch on to. He got the better of a duel with subsequent winner Lorient Express at Folkestone to win by 12 lengths, and quickly followed up by beating Fiery Peace by seven lengths at Ludlow under a 7 lb penalty. David Dennis had the luxury of taking a look around for non-existent dangers between the last two fences before shaking up his mount for an easy victory on that last run, and there was obviously more in the locker. Nagano has taken a hefty clout from the handicapper as a result, but with any amount of improvement still to come he should not be opposed.
