Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan Fixture: Torquay Utd v Dagenham & Redbridge Selection: Torquay Strength: 7/10 Date: 24/01/2012 Bookmaker/Price: Various 4/6 Reasoning: Torquay lost 2 games all season at home, averaging 1.92 games per game (3rd highest in league). Won 46% of games at home. Current Form: W-D-L, (Goals F-A) Full: 4-1-1, (8-6) Home: 5-1-0, (11-1) Away: 4-1-1, (10-6) Torquay are starting to hit a bit of form after a relatively poor first half of the season. Stats show they struggle against teams in the top half of the table but an impressive record against mid table opposition and below. Currently 5-1-0 at home only conceding a single goal in their past 6 home games. Dagenham are very poor away from home scoring on average 0.75 goals per game. They concede 1.83 goals per game away from home and in their last 6 away matches they have leaked in 14 goals! Current Form: W-D-L, (Goals F-A) Full: 2-2-2, (8-8) Home: 2-0-4, (8-9) Away: 0-2-4, (4-14) 2 wins in their last 10 games, yet to win a game this year! Haven’t won an away game in their last 10 away fixtures! Lose 67% of their away games and that stat looks to increase as Torquay looks to push on for a playoff place! Working fair odds out on basis of this season results I get the following odds: Home Win = 1.78 Draw = 3.57 Away Win = 6.25 Best odds available at posting are 1.66 at Skybet, Stan James and Betfred. These have shortened as last night (Sunday) I placed the bet at 1.73. GL

Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan Stevenage v MK Dons Tuesday 24th Jan, 19.45 6h placed Stevenage play 5th placed MK Dons Records so far this season: Stevenage at home: 5/4/3 17/12 MK Dons away: 7/3/3 25/13 http://www.soccerway.com/national/england/league-one/2011-2012/regular-season/ MK Dons away record is better than Stevenage's home one. This is also a reasonably local fixture (the clubs are less than 30 miles apart) and a lot of MK Dons fans will be travelling, which will give the game an edge. MK Dons do seem to be pretty strong away from home, and I think they should be favourites for this game, but Stevenage are narrow favourites at 2.6 (MK are 2.9), and I think there is some value backing MK Dons at these prices. I like 2-way bets which eliminate the draw, so I'd suggest: MK Dons Draw No Bet 2.1 Paddy Power

Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan Scunthorpe - Sheffield Wednesday 2 DNB @ 1.66 with VC Sheffield Wednesday are a team with one ambition this season - top 2 and automatic promotion. They started the season playing extremely well at home and quite poorly away. They managed to improve the away form and as a result have now won 46% of away games losing 38%. Their last away defeat was at the end of last year to Walsall but one could argue that it was just a blip, a moment of madness and lack of concentration from the Owls - they were leading up to 90 mins and conceded two goals in injury time. They are now coming to Scunthorpe - who in the first part of the season were draw specialists- but now have a home record of only 17% wins and 42% defeats, and the Owls will look to get a win on the back of a home defeat to Charlton and a bit unlucky draw to Hartlepool. My estimates show that the price is about right so I am willing to take Wednesday on Draw No Bet.

Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan Scunthorpe United vs Sheffield Wednesday The Owls haven;t got yet a win here against the Irons which are leading 2 wins, 1 draw to zero defeats. But the Owls are looking to bounce back from 2 games without a win, being very close to the second spot, which means automatic promotion. Scunthorpe have been pretty good lately with 4 undefeated games in last 4 matches. But they have showed a predilection for drawing matches and I think they can snatch another one here. So I think betting on Sheffield with a protection against the draw is a very good bet! away 0 AH @ 1.66 with Canbet

Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan Stevenage vs MK Dons Great match here between two teams that have impressed in the last seasons. Mainly Stevenage. Do you realize that 2 seasons ago they were in the Conference and now are on Play Off position in League One. But the departure of Graham Westley should leave some scars here. I am not saying that the manager made it possible, it was the force of the group and his leadership that were very well assembled. Many specialists are and were talking about "Physical Stevenage". I think will be hard for Westley to build the same on Preston. Some how, the situation looks familiar to me, something like it happened with Torquay and Paul Buckle that left Torquay in the summer for Bristol Rovers and now got fired. Stevenage are strong, but they will meet a stronger side now. MK Dons are playing very well away and the results are proving: 7 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats. Not forget that the care taker manager of Stevenage these days is the 28 years old Mark Roberts, defender and captain of the team. Remember also that he is here with Stevenage since the team was playing in Conference, but I have serious doubts about his tactical knowledge. MK Dona are in a series of 5 games with just 1 win, but they will surely come here to win. They are 6 points behind direct promotion places and also will benefit from a large number of supporters tonight as these two cities are on a distance of 30 miles between them. I expect MK Dons to win the match! away 0 AH @ 2.16 with Pinnacle Sports

Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan Wimbledon vs Macclesfield Last results of Macclesfield are pushing me to take this bet quickly. They were close to get a point against Swindon, they have been decent against Bolton. I am looking also and see that the wins for Macclesfield were a very rare result in last 15 games, so a win is something to expect from them in the following games. Wimbledon won last 2 games after a series of bad results, 7, but I do not expect now to have 7 wins in compensation. Maclessfield +0.5 AH @ 1.85 with canbet

Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan Torquay vs Dagenham & Redbridge The Gulls are in a great form and they are looking to extend their undefeated period to 6 games. The Daggers are having 3 consecutive defeats, and are looking at least for a point for leveling Plymouth at points. Torquay will probably play woth Atieno upfront after good games from him and striker Rene Howe, might start on the bench coming from a suspension. Midfielders Luke Howell (knee), Kevin Maher (metatarsal) and Peter Gain (knee) as well as striker Sam Williams (knee) from the Daggers are sidelined. I think will see a tough game to call as the Dagger are looking to avoid 4th defeat in a row. Torquay are having a number of draws at home almost equal with the number of wins so a draw here might be possible. I think under 2.5 goals is a good bet in the given conditions. under 2.5 goals @ 2.14 with 188bet

Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan Stevenage vs MK Dons - Stevenage have lost once in their last 5 league games and once in their last 6 at home, they seem to have coped well with the loss of Graham Westley and the've rallied together to produce some good results on the road and they will be back in front of their home fans today and i expect them to have a committed performance as usual, both sides have relatively clean slates and i expect the game to end in a similar fashion to the reverse fixture that MK Dons won 1-0 but i can't decide on who will nick the odd goal although i have a feeling it will be Stevenage because they seen to do well against the big sides at home whereas MK Dons are the opposite and that's why i will be taking a under 1.5 goals in the game @5/2 with William Hill

Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan AFC Wimbledon v Macclesfield Pick: AFC Wimbledon 11/10 SkyBet Wimbledon have picked up two morale boosting away wins over the last week at Gillingham and Port Vale (2 very big sides in this division.) Confidence is very high in the camp after coming down from 2-0 at Gillingham and 1-0 at Port Vale last week also so their is no question about the wombles grit and determination either. Macclesfield have not picked up a point this year losing 4 on the bounce in the league. The Silkmen will miss their main centre back in Nat Brown for this one who is suspended.

Re: England > Midweek > L1 & L2 > 24 Jan I saw Scunthorpe against my own side, Chesterfield, on New Year's Eve and they were dreadful. On the basis on that evidence and the growing discontent at Scunthorpe I'm more than happy to go along with the draw no bet option on Sheffield Wednesday.

Lesson here is that selection like this one, i.e. strong in-form teams like Wednesday should be placed on their own. I am still in slight profit for January so will try to bounce back at the weekend to make it a profitable month.

Result: Stevenage 4 MK Dons 2 From the BBC report, it looks as though Stevenage deserved it - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16589175.stm Bet lost. (I didn't realise that Stevenage were between managers. Their old manager, Graham Westley was poached by Preston. I may not have placed the bet if I'd known - because teams often raise their game after a setback like that) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16560529.stm Apart from that, I'm still fairly happy that the bet was good value.
