Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 3rd Qual Rnd > 15 Oct Slough look excellent value at 8/11 to beat Hanworth Villa, who have done really well to reach this stage. However this will be comfortably the best side they have faced to date, and with home advantage the Rebels look worthy of support, especially as they have had a week's rest and will be smarting since their surprise FA Trophy defeat last Saturday. I suspect that the unusually high number of fixtures played by the visitors already could well catch up with them and the hosts superior fitness will tell.

Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 3rd Qual Rnd > 15 Oct The third paragraph of this makes 3/1 about their Cornish opponents look interesting: http://godalmingtownfc.co.uk/wp/?p=1377 At the prices there is value for me in Stratford Town, Hebburn and Grantham. I'm not going to pretend I know enough about their playing personnel etc to put up any cogent reasoning. However, in the previous round (particularly the replays) there were many so-called underdogs that won at very tasty prices at 4/1 and above.

Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 3rd Qual Rnd > 15 Oct No suprises who I am backing this weekend after they produced the goods in the last round... Spennymoor! They convincingly beat Ashton 3-0 in the last round and now face albeit strong Witton side, however on a good pitch down there I will gladly take them at 4/1 (Bwin). Another play for me involving Northern League sides is Ashington. However I will be oposing them and taking Guisely. While Ashington saw off Vauxhall in the last round Guisely offer a far sterner test. And in the last 3 games Ashington have unfortunately lost their skipper to a fractured skull and their main striker to a broken leg last Saturday. Therefore the 1/2 on Guisely with BlueSq will definately be getting taken! Good luck all

Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 3rd Qual Rnd > 15 Oct Hednesford v Corby Into the FA Cup now and I think this game has a decent chance of seeing a bit of an upset. This could very easily have been a league fixture this season given how close Hednesford came to promotion and it’s no surprise to see them going very well again this year as they look to get into the Conference set up. Corby have been rather in and out so far and although they have only lost twice in their last ten league and cup matches, they managed just four wins and two of them came against the weakest sides in the league - Blyth Spartans and Eastwood. This will be a tough game for Corby and I would have the prices closer together than they are, with Blue Square biggest at 11/5. Eastleigh v Oxford City City have really managed to turn things around after a tough season last time and they currently sit in second place in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier, just two points off the lead. They have not lost since August, have only been defeated twice all season, and they won 7-1 last weekend. As I have written a few times this term, Eastleigh have got a young side and that means they can put in the odd good performance but more often than not their efforts suggest they are still finding their feet at this level of football. City will really fancy their chances of causing an upset in this game and I think they have a really decent chance of doing so. Blue Square are biggest at 11/4. FA Cup Acca I came close in the previous round, getting five out of six, and this time around I have found four teams who should all progress to the next round. Eastbourne, Dover and Basingstoke should find things comfortable against there much lower ranked opposition, whilst it will be disappointing if Blue Square North side Droylsden did not manage to see struggling Evo-Stik Northern Premier side Stocksbridge. The four-fold pays around 2.2/1 with Blue Square.

Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 3rd Qual Rnd > 15 Oct Apart from Bodmin mentioned above, I've also backed Stratford Town at 4/1 with Ladbrokes to win at Kings Lynn. In the last round Stratford of the Midland Alliance won 4-2 away at Stafford Rangers who are two steps above them in the non-league pyramid. They have played 5 Cup ties already scoring 24 goals in the process. Their only defeat in 9 games was a 1-0 home defeat to Redditch when Stratford virtually put out a reserve and youth team. Kings Lynn are in the United Counties League (which I believe is the same level as Stratford). They still have the very decent Jack Defty in their ranks, but have had a patchy run of recent form. Their last two home league games have seen a 1-0 defeat by Long Buckby and a 3-3 draw against ailing Sleaford who are only two off the bottom of their league. Can't help thinking the bookies are pricing this up based on Kings Lynn's status of 3 or 4 years ago. Stratford Town look rather over-priced in my opinion at 4/1.

Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 3rd Qual Rnd > 15 Oct Burnham v Bishop's Stortford I'll be at The Gore tomorrow, hoping that Burnham can beat a team 43 places above them in the pyramid - but I've already backed Bishop's Stortford to win. This was posted on the Burnham website yesterday: "The Blues will be without Jamie Jackson and Adam Dickens who are both serving one match suspensions. Tonight will be a busy night on the treatment table as Steve Jarrett and his team try to get several players who are struggling with injuries fit enough to play on Saturday." Now the stuff about injuries might be pre-match crap - though it's backed up in the local paper: http://www.sloughobserver.co.uk/sport/burnhamfc/articles/2011/10/13/54698-burnham-fc-struck-by-injury-crisis-ahead-of-fa-cup-clash/ But even without the injuries, losing Jackson (the first-choice keeper) and Dickens (a central midfielder and a regular this season) are major blows to what is a pretty ordinary Burnham team. Bishop's Stortford haven't got off to a great start to the season, but all things considered I think 8/11 on an away win with Blue Square and Ladbrokes is worth a small bet.

Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 3rd Qual Rnd > 15 Oct Stortford are very hit and miss in front of goal although last week when I watched them it was very much hit. They arent really a team Id be wanting to go in at a short price but given the team news on the opposition they might be in for a fairly easy afternoon.

Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 3rd Qual Rnd > 15 Oct It was a comfortable win for Bishop's Stortford, who were 2-0 up in less than ten minutes and never looked like losing their lead. They won 5-2 and could have scored many more. I had a double with Chelsea, so I'm picking up an OK win on an 11/8 shot.

Re: England > Weekend > FA Cup 3rd Qual Rnd > 15 Oct

I should add that an awful ref at Hednesford has cost me a fair bit of money today given they were my only losers. :wall:wall
Probably not as much as Guiseley cost me today though. Still it's my own fault, I thought they were a banker.

Im surprised by Guiseley but they had a poor afternoon by all accounts.
