GaF
Re: $30 Million Event at Wembley Stadium Read extremely little on this on 2plus2 and apparently Wembley has NOT been booked for this!!! Even if they did book it, they couldn't hold the tourney there without Wembley getting a gaming licence could they? (Didn't Old Trafford have a similar problem a few years ago?) Pensioner65
$30M Prizepool Live Event May 2012(Wembley Stadium ) Wow :eek http://www.casinos-online.co.uk/news/20111006/spectacular-wembley-poker-tourney-hopes-to-pull-in-up-to-30-000-players/ 06th October, 2011 :: 08:46:34 Source: Casinos Online Earlier this week directed readers to the website ISPT.com & an impressive vid advertising a massive live-electronic poker tournament scheduled initially for the iconic Wembley Stadium in London, carrying a $30 million dollar guaranteed prize pool. This massive inaugural International Stadiums Poker Tournament project is interesting for several reasons; itEUR™s sheer scale, the novelty of blending electronic play with live action, & the involvement of Groupe Bernard Tapie, which is currently negotiating the purchase of Full Tilt Poker. Revisiting the website, we discovered that considerably more detail has now been uploaded, enabling to update its report. To quote from the website directly: "The first step of the Event consists in making all the players (ISPT expects their number to be comprised between 20,000 & 30,000) compete online, simultaneously, on dedicated software & using electronic pads which will be offered to them, at their seats in the stadium. "During the second step, the 3,000 top-ranked players still in the running will be gathered around real tables set up on the floor of the stadium, to compete in real (live) mode. "Each of these 3,000 players will earn a piece of the $30 million guaranteed prize pool. "The last step is the Final Table, where the last 10 players will compete for the remaining $17.5 million prize, the winner earning $10 million." The site is presently gathering email addresses of anyone interested in being kept up to speed on this unique event, which will take place around September next year. The site is worth a second visit, because it now identifies the significant participation of major European companies like Wembley Stadium, telecoms giant Orange & broadcasting partner IMG Worldwide, an international sport, fashion & business media active in 30 countries. Also of interest is a page carrying the remarkable bios of the founders of ISPT, Bernard & Laurent Tapie & television whiz kid Prosper Masquelier, who is apparently the Directeur Général dEUR™ISPT. This has all the hallmarks of a serious & well-funded venture that will make a major impact on the industry...and there are more tournaments planned once the initial run-out has been successfully carried out. Please let me save all my run goods for this one :rollin:rollin:rollin
Haichan
Re: $30 Million Event at Wembley Stadium This is the same Bernard Tapie who has just bought Full Tilt. Who was President of Olympic Marseille who were accused of match fixing just after they won the champions League and were relegated to the French second Division for financial irregularities. Tapie was then jailed for corruption, prosecuted for tax fraud and bankrupted. He was also forced to resign as a Minister in the Socialist Government of François Mitterrand. Yet in 2007 he announces he's voting for Nicolas Sarkozy’s the current President of France. And 6 months later a speicial arbitration panel set up by the Sarkozy Government awards405 million euros to Tapie over a legal dispute that the French Government had been fighting with Tapie for 10 years. And of course that award is now under investigation for alleged abuse of authority. http://blogs.ft.com/the-world/2011/08/briefing-the-bernard-tapie-case/#axzz1a5KVKW7p So I wouldn't hold my breath this event will happen and even if it does I am not sure I could trust that the event would be legitimate.
