Because I tried to make some money with laying some horses to win, but that was not a good strategy for me :( Hi mate, I try to look at form, odds, number of runners in a race (I dont like laying when there are 5 or less horses), when the horse last ran, jockey and trainer form. I also look at the comments from the racing post and the tissue (expected odds that the RP have for the horses). I don't see me frequently laying anything under odds of 20. When I have been backing odds on horses to place I have been looking at the rest of the field and see what the odds are and how many are likely to be in with a chance, if there are only 3 / 4 in with a shout then I have been backing. I won't back any horse to place over jumps, I don't mind hurdles although there is obviously more risk than the flat. At the end of the day it is a case of dodging bullets, I fully expect to have a few losers soon.... its impossible to win them all and thats why I only try to double then bank.
