    Hi all,
Apologies for the delay in getting this up. I was ill and then had both my own and my daughter's birthdays to celebrate. It was a big scoring week for some this time around and we do have a new leader at the top of the Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League. Abdulbadiu Abdulkadir's Dankaka lead the way after earning a solid 78 points last week.
However, it wasn't even close to being the highest score of the week. The Manager of the Week award for this round goes to @u1905068's Amics d'Eric Djemba who notched up a whopping 98 points to help them move up to 2nd in the table and just 5 points off the pace of top spot. David Oliver is familiar with success in our fantasy football so it's no surprise to see him up there once again. The fact he reached that many points without using a special card this week makes it even more impressive. Double-figure scores from Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman, Son Heung-min, Bruno Fernandes, Bukayo Saka, and Erling Haaland certainly helped!
A special tip of the fantasy hat to @Gray306's Ju-Lo's Lamborghini who accumulated 96 points and fell just short. He also didn't need to use a special card to get this total but did need some big scores by some unfashionable names including Kyle Walker and Pedro Neto to get him close to the three-figure total. Shashwot Adhikari's MaddiSon also hit 96 points this week with a three-man defence picking up 24 points on their own.
The lowest score this week wasn't even particularly low but we still need to pay our lack of respects to the recipient of the shameful accolade. Darama Mallum Wadai's Rexyking only managed 24 points and they were lucky to get that many in what looked like a car crash of a week. Six of his starting line-up are now listed as very doubtful or unavailable for this week. That includes Malo Gusto and Rodri who both got -2 this week for their respective red cards. Kepa Arrizabalaga and Danilo didn't even play but weren't replaced because Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, and Davinson Sanchez on the bench are all unavailable too. Then there was Kurt Zouma who didn't pick up a single point. What a mess! Have a word with yourself Darama! You and your team are a disgrace! Also, given the state this team is in, if anyone else gets a lower score than this squad over the coming weeks you should just resign from your position with immediate effect!
Now, onto next week! The deadline for transfers is 11 am BST on Saturday 30th September. Best of luck with all your decisions! Here we go!

Did somebody order a cheeky portion of midweek Spanish La Liga matches? I hope you're all recovering after that epic Madrid derby we experienced on the weekend. Will Real Madrid bounce back after that disappointing defeat to their neighbours? Can Atletico Madrid build on that win to mount a genuine title challenge? Meanwhile, are Girona the real contenders to push Barcelona this season?

Check out the odds for the midweek action coming up in the Italian Serie A over the next few days. Inter Milan remain the only club with a 100% start to the season but the surprise package who are the only other team to remain undefeated are Lecce. Five of the top six teams won on the weekend so will we see a repeat of that consistency in these matches? Give us your predictions below!

It would be great to maybe have some sort of chart with the times BOG starts with each bookie.
It would also be great to have a list of bookies that offer double or treble odds on one winner in a lucky 15 bet.
    Thanks tonythepaint

I was specifically thinking about the bogs as it were. That’ll teach me to try and be subtle!
I have fond enough memories of the betting shop era generally, especially the one where we were deemed regular enough to get free coffees and in proper mugs! I just don’t tend to use them these days.

The Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League is back after the international break. So much has changed but yet the one thing that has remained the same is Rob Cooper's email this team in staying on top of the table! It was far from the most impressive week with just 47 points to their name but it was enough to fend off the challengers from behind. Erling Haaland and Andrew Robertson will certainly be having their pints bought for them in the pub this week by gaffer Rob!
Manager of the Week goes to Max Parker and his Royals team. A spirited 68 points total saw him rise up the table some way. The Liverpool pair of Mohamed Salah and Robertson brought home the bulk of the points but there were also solid displays from the likes of Levi Colwill, Fabian Schar, Bukayo Saka, and James Ward-Prowse. A proper team effort.
Now it's time for everyone's favourite part of the week. Who do we name, shame, and throw rotten vegetables at this round? Surprisingly, given it was generally a low-scoring week, the lowest score actually isn't too low with Shashwot Adhikari's MaddiSon achieving the lowest score of the round with 20 points. Haaland was the only player in the team to score more than 2 points in a disappointing effort. It's far from the worst weekly score we've seen but nonetheless. Off to the stocks with you, Shashwot!
The deadline for the next round of matches is 1:30pm BST on Saturday 23rd September. Best of luck to you all!

I'm fully expecting Erol Bulut to make changes to his Cardiff side after Saturday night's superb 2-0 win over Swansea. I can see Rubin Colwill, Ollie Tanner, Joe Ralls, and Kion Etete all coming in with the likes of Arron Ramsey, Manolis Siopis, Karlan Grant, and Yakou Meite potentially being rested. I hope he keeps the same back-line after keeping that clean sheet but he might rest a couple of them after they put in that solid shift.
I'm quietly optimistic we can win this one but the danger after winning such an emotionally charged game is that you'll get caught on the hop after it. I would consider a draw to be a very positive result for Cardiff so backing a draw is my hopeful bet at 23/10 with Bet365. @skyblues88, how are you feeling about this game? We couldn't even score against you last season so I'm hoping we rectify that tonight! I'll cry if you win 1-0 again!

Although I am no longer able to use them, I did find that Bet365 tended to offer the best prices. They also have some good offers on Saturdays and other big meetings.
Ladbrokes offer 3 price boosts each day which can give them the best prices.
Boylesports have an offer on 1 race meet per day where they offer a free bet if your selection is second to the SP favourite.
The rest have all closed my account or removed BOG so I can't really comment on them although I do remember that Unibet had some good offers.
Generally I would advice that you open a number of accounts so that you can get the best odds (and also take advantage of the offers usually available for opening an account).

I'm still amazed our game is a 7:45pm kick off on the same day that Wales are playing Portugal in the rugby. Town is going to be a mess and the atmosphere at the Cardiff City Stadium is going to be obscene. This is the most optimistic I've been about a South Wales Derby game but it's still always a tough one. This game means everything to Swansea. They would rather beat us and get relegated than lose to us and stay up. We need to adopt that mentality for this game if we want to win. I still think Swansea are always worth backing to beat us though because it's their big cup final and they ramp their levels up for it so those odds on an away win do seem generous. Cardiff fans have a habit of getting a bit toxic when things don't go right straight away too which is an annoying side to them. If we start well, we could pump the Jacks but if we start poorly then it could be another dour derby day.
To summarise, my heart says a Cardiff win. My head says a draw. My worst fears say a Swansea win!

Not that I was anyway near, though wouldn't it be a good idea to give the manager of the month prize to the highest placed team of the month who followed the correct entry criteria?
Otherwise, we could end up with many many months of unclaimed prizes.
And @StevieDay1983 don't be too hard on yourself in regards to Raheeeeeeeem Sterling this weekend. He also had the double anchor of me selecting the nimble chap to weigh him down as well 😄

The Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League enters the first international break of the season with a new leader at the top of the table. Rob Cooper's email this team in have dislodged Ya'u Ado's Zakariya FC at the summit. In fact, Zakariya FC have dropped all the way down to 9th after a mediocre 69 points total. It just goes to show how high the quality is this year. Rob will be thanking not only Erling Haaland as his captain for bringing home 40 of the 92 points he earned but there were also solid points returns from the likes of Cristian Romero, Andrew Robertson, Bryan Mbeumo, Martin Odegaard, James Ward-Prowse, and Darwin Nunez. He even enjoyed the luxury of having Gabriel Martinelli's 5 points on his bench unused.
Still, the 92 points Cooper's men earned wasn't enough to earn him Manager of the Week. Not even close. In fact, it wasn't even @Gray306 with his Ju-Lo's Lamborghini with 105 points. Or @TFC's TFC with their 108 points haul. This week's Manager of the Week went to @Chris P's Dynamo Langdale. Unsurprisingly, his decision to triple captain Haaland was the moneymaker. Even so, Haaland's 60 points were added to by impressive double-figure returns by Trent Alexander-Arnold, Son Heung-min, and Dominik Szoboszlai. Well played!
Unfortunately, us staff members here at Punters Lounge must grieve the reputation of one of our own this week. For it is our very own tech wizard @Steve Coleman who must parade through the streets of his current hometown naked and full of shame after amassing a meagre 22 points to end up with the lowest score of the week. Steve will have his team in for extra training next week with only Bukayo Saka, James Maddison, and Alexander Isak earning more than 2 points each!
A special shout out to Ya'u Ado's Zakariya FC who was the winner of the August Manager of the Month but, unfortunately, did not fulfil the required criteria of posting their team name and username in the competition sign-up thread so did not win the monthly prize that was available. Let's hope this month's Manager of the Month does meet the eligibility!

A couple of months back, I had them down as potential automatic promotion and title contenders. Unfortunately, they had an awful transfer window losing Marc Bola and Chuba Akpom whilst also losing last season's key loan signings of Ryan Giles, Zack Steffan, Alex Mowatt, Cameron Archer, and Aaron Ramsey. The recent additions of Lukas Engel and Emmanuel Latte Lath have done a little bit to cover those losses but there's still been no activity on the loan front. I feel they need another 4-5 additions to be promotion contenders and even then it feels like they've left it too late. I think a top-half finish is best for them now but results need to match the performance levels otherwise Michael Carrick's position could be brought into question, even if that would be harsh.
On the Cardiff front, we were unreal against Birmingham in midweek. The increased level of competition within the squad is starting to bring the best out of players such as Ryan Wintle, Rubin Colwill, and Ollie Tanner. The signing of Manolis Siopis has the potential to be the most influential signing we've made since Aron Gunnarsson. We've been crying out for a dominant defensive-minded central midfielder for seasons now. He's an absolute war dog. I still think Ipswich away is a tough ask. There's no denying our away games so far have been up there with the toughest so if we can avoid defeat then we'd have only lost 1 of our 3 away league games to Leeds, Leicester, and Ipswich.
It's a tough one this week but I'll foolishly optimistically back...

Sheffield United being priced at 2/1 to beat Everton with Bet365 is an outrageous price given how awful the Toffees have been. My mate is a Blades fan and he's always boasted about how United make Bramall Lane a really tough place to go. We could see that from their last game against Manchester City. My only reservation is how much that City game took out of them. I'd fancy them to get the 3 points at that value though!
