I took Gilbert at 1.83 yesterday -3.5, but watching this in could be a helluva lot more between them at the end. Commentators mention Milkins has a sore neck, which you can see is bothering him. Really doesn't look comfortable at all out there at the moment

noticed yesterday he was pulling all sorts of faces. He did say that he hasn't been working as hard this year and he's had issues with drinking in the past. Who knows what is going on behind closed doors. Guy never looks happy, to me.

  2. I've already taken Gilbert on a handicap against Milkins but I'm surprised that the -3.5 is on offer at 4/5. He is already -1.5 and Milkins was lucky to go 5-3 instead of 6-2 when he tried a double and everything worked out for him, with reds on the cushions. Milkins was awful yesterday and far too attacking. I can see Gilbert extending his lead.

    5pts Gilbert (-3.5) to beat Milkins 4/5 Bet365

  3. I'm going to take a bet on the 3 favs over the next couple of days. I think Jak Jones looked quite nervous in his last match and I think Jiahui will improve going forward, too. As I said above, I think Murphy beats Maguire without too much fuss and Lisowski beat Ding, who played some great stuff. Ding hit 2 centuries and 7 50+ breaks and he still got the better of him. I think he'll beat Bingham.

2pts Jiahui, Murphy and Lisowski 5/2 Paddypower

  4. 5th event tomorrow. I'm going with these 5. Thought about Rob Cross but his price is too skinny.

    3pts e/w Bunting 22/1 Paddypower
    2pts e/w R.Smith 28/1 Paddypower
    --------------------------------------------
    1pt e/w Rock 33/1 Paddypower
    1pt e/w Schindler 40/1 Paddypower
    --------------------------------------------
    0.5pts e/w Edhouse 80/1 Willhill

  5. Jiahui hit 1 century against Mertens (and a 98). He then hit 2 centuries in his final Q match. Williams hit 2 centuries in his final win over Ronnie and 3 in the semi-final win over Allen. I can't see Williams hitting less than 2 and I think both hitting 2 is a good shout.

    5pts M.Williams over 1.5 centuries 4/5 Bet365
2pts both players to hit over 1.5 centuries (Williams v Jiahui) 7/2 Paddypower

Watching some of the Anda v Jones match. The standard is dreadful. Anda has been appalling by his standards, Jones should really be out of sight by now, but the only reason he isn't is because he's also playing pretty rubbish, mostly not taking the ample chances Anda has presented him with. The final frame just now to make it 5-2 to Jones was a comedy of errors, the only bright light being Anda's final green to blue where he actually strung three decent pots together (but then missed the final pink!, although he didn't need that anyway). You get the feeling Anda cannot play as poorly in the following sessions, and he'll be boosted by winning that last frame which he could so easily have lost. Whilst Jones is just not that great of a player overall in my opinion, if Anda shows up for the rest of the match, he still has a decent chance of winning, as Jones is just not as good a player as him. I put some money on Jones earlier when he looked like going 6-1 up, even with playing pretty poorly, but I covered with the Zhang+3.5 once I saw him actually potting a few balls in a row, which he has barely done all match.

some players just do not perform on this stage. Even the big boys. Anda was lucky to get 2 there and should have a better session tomorrow. I still give him a decent chance of coming back from that because Jak Jones is also obviously nervous.

I had a free bet with WH and took Anda at 5-2. As you say, I think Anda is a better player ultimately.

Looking forward to tomorrow, the draw seems pretty good with an easier top half. Glad that Williams avoided Page ditto Higgins / Maguire. I can't remember how many qualifiers won their L32 match last year but it wouldn't surprise me if 5 or 6 managed it this year as they have the advantage of being match-sharp from the off. Spare a thought for Dave Gilbert who was saying to Rob Walker that he didn't want another 10am Sat or Sun match this year as it's the worst timeslot but has been handed just that!

Yeah I watched that and thought the same thing. Makes me think that Brecel might get a good start.

Following you in on Dobey & Smith.

Makes sense to go heavy in the top half of the draw with your picks with how its shaped up.

Yeah, i was thinking Anderson in the bottom half but there is alot of good players down there so I'll just try Bunting for interest. Top half is the place to be.
