Bet of the weekend for me so far this week is tottenham -1. Comes in 9 to 1. Tottenham are scoring for fun and have the best defence in the league. And Man City are both toothless and can't stop conceding.

On a slightly unrelated note, the ELO match ratings are so complicated after the change. Can someone explain them to me?

They added the average of last 2 and 4 games now if I'm not wrong. Everything else is pretty much the same.

  2. My early thoughts for now. Melbourne City -1.5, Brisbane Roar DNB, Perth Glory DNB and WSW with the bolded being the more confident ones. Will confirm on the plays again.

If that Adelaide defeat doesn't spark City into life again, nothing will.

I'm still not convinced Wellington is a playoffs team despite their 2 wins in a row streak and also don't think Roar suddenly become a bad team. Maybe Roar is not a top 2 team but certainly a playoffs team. I expect the rested Roar to test the suspect Wellington defence more than CCM and Victory did.

I would be all over Perth(3rd game in a week and the long distance to Perth) if Victory didn't get thrashed yesterday. Still leaning to Perth to get something here, may go for Glory +0.5 instead.

With 12 games left, pretty much entering the must win and no more draw time for WSW now. New gk Janjetovic looks good so far and should eliminate those early gk mistakes that cost them a few wins. Santalab is back from suspension as well.

  3. Anyone like Congo DR getting a result tomorrow? Morocco lost a few of their star players but still has a good coach. I know Congo DR have some problems with money but all these stuff are usually overrated. I remember Nigeria had similar problem in the Olympics last year and as a result they only arrived in Brazil a few hours before their kickoff to play Japan. Almost all tipsters were on Japan but Nigeria totally boss that game.

  4. Lazio -0.5 @ 2.06

Atalanta will lose another midfielder in Franck Kessie due the AFCON. Lazio will also lose Keita but will get Felipe Anderson and Lulic back from suspension. I don't think Atlanta has too much depth to cover so many losses in a short time. They may be the best away team currently but Lazio should have too much for them today.

  5. Watford DNB @ 1.79

I think the crowd could play a big part in this game. With the passing of Graham Taylor, the crowd won't get on their players back even if they are rubbish as this is the last thing the late Graham Taylor wants to see. Hopefully this will lift the pressure off Watford and steer them to a win as a parting gift to their best manager of all times.

  6. Espanyol +0.5

Not too sure if Valencia will get to enjoy their home advantage as the place is so toxic at the moment. Valencia fans will probably turn against their team if they don't start well in the 1st 15-20 mins. With the exception of the 6-4 loss to Sevilla and 4-1 to Barca, Espanyol is a pretty decent away team.

  7. Adelaide +0.25 @ 1.97

While Melbourne City has only 1 defeat in their last 6 games, they haven't been impressive at all since their FFA cup win. You will almost have to go back to the start of the season when they actually look good in games. Nowadays they seems happy to sit on a goal lead and always got punished. They were lucky against WSW last week as they played like they were the team who had a man sent off. As for Adelaide, their defence is bad but they can create chances. If they can score, they will punish City. I'm going with my gut feeling that Adelaide will have some luck with their finishing this week. Surely a team can't always lose, right?  :hope

  8. Melbourne City will be my play of the week. Nothing is going right for Perth at the moment. On the field, they are defensively poor. Off the pitch, they have players(Rhys Williams) wanting out. Melbourne City needed a kick to their butts and they got it from Victory, that should give them abit of motivation to kickstart their season again.

I like Roar as well but knowing my luck, WSW will decide to defend better and win this week. :@

I don't understand how they can go from being so class last season to the diabolical mess they are now. Have they become complacent after their championship last season?

They lost quite a number of their title winning players during the offseason. At the start of the season, they blame their poor form on the injuries to some of their starters. It kinda of show now that the injuries are not the only reason for their poor start, it's more of poor recruitment to replace those who have left. The coach future probably also play a part as it seems like they are looking to replace him with Roar coach John Alosi.

  10. If Stoke doesn't impress you, then I'm not too sure what Leicester has done this season to impress you. :)

The only 2 things that work against Stoke is that they played a day later than Leicester and the loss of Arnie. If anyone has watch Leicester play, their style of play is always the same. 4-4-2, Drinkwater long ball to Vardy and hope for the best or pass to ballhog Mahrez who thinks he is Messi and will take his own sweet time to play the ball. As long as Stoke doesn't use a high defensive line like Man City, Shawcross will gobble up all Drinkwater long passes.
