Yeah, I am wary of a few of them. Burnley versus Crystal Palace, West Ham versus Stoke, and Leicester versus West Brom are the three I really can't quite decide on yet. Think I will have to avoid the outright markets for these and focus on goals scored or the player markets. Allen to score anytime seems a decent call. Allen to win man of the match as well at the moment. The guy is on fire!

How about a Swansea upset :loon

    Liverpool, Leicester potential overs

  2. Middlesbrough have not won in 7 EPL matches while Bournemouth bounced back strongly after the 4-0 loss against Man City with 2W 2D 9 goals 3 conceded.

If they maintain their fighting spirit as shown in the Arsenal match, they will taste a victory here.

I would think this is vital as their next 3 matches are tough opponents.

I think better times lie ahead for Swansea. They have an excellent technical coach, and definitely have the players to win games.

They have played almost every tough team (except Man United). No team has had a fixture list that goes Arsenal Liverpool Man City Saints Chelsea Leicester.

The misery continues with a trip to Stoke, home against Man Utd, and a trip to Goodison Park :cry

Maybe one of these 3 they will bounce back

  4. England vs Wales

This will be one of the most exciting matches for the night. It is interesting to see how low the odds for England are at this moment. Seems that everyone is pinning on them to win.

Indeed, England commands an absolute strong H2H over Wales.

Things get abit tricky since 3rd placing has a chance to qualify for next round as well. A win is far more important than anything else. Less than that, they will have to fight it all out with Slovakia in their final round of group stage.

Key player for Wales I believe will still be Bale.

  5. Austria vs Hungary

Habsburg neighbours playing against one another in the 2nd final match of round 1. Just over 100 years ago, both nations were still under a single dual-monarchy. Anyway, not important.

In terms of H2H stats, Hungary is ahead with 66W 31D 40L in all encounters. In recent history, Hungary has been the better team. Over the past 82 years both teams met 16 times with Austria winning 3, Hungary winning 8 and 5 draws. Yet, these stats mean very very little today.

Austria is in a brilliant form especially the Euro qualifications, 9W and 1D, scoring 22 and conceding only 5 goals. For Hungary, they managed 6W 4D 2L, scoring 14 and conceding 11 goals.

Both teams have not impressed well in their recent matches, though. Austria has been shaky in their last 5 matches (all friendlies), LWLWL, scoring 6 conceding 8. For Hungary, they played 3 friendlies, DDL, scoring 1 conceding 3.

Last checked, the odds offered for this match seems pretty similar with the odds offered for Poland's match (Bet365 offering 1.7x while my side is only 1.60 - same as Poland). So it might be a good possibility this match will end in the similar fashion as Poland's match.

  6. Germany vs Ukraine

Frequently I am reluctant to place bets on matches which involves a hot favourite, and for this match is the obvious cannot be more obvious enough. A straight win is what Germany requires badly and probably will put on a lot more pressure on the team.

Since 2015, Germany has been playing not too badly with upset days. 13 matches since 2015 with records as follows:

    • DWLWWWLWLLWLW

However, one might wish to take a look at their last 4 performance -- LWLW, scoring 9 and conceding 7 -- Hardly good

Ukraine has been doing not too bad, competitive record since 2015 -- LDWWWDWLWDWWWW -- 6 matches unbeaten

    Euro trivia:

    • This is Ukraine's 2nd Euro appearance. They won 2-1 in their opening match back in 2008
    • Germany has not seen an opening match with more than 2 goals since 1980 (1980 0-1, 1984 0-0, 1988 1-1, 1992 1-1, 1996 2-0, 2000 1-1, 2004 1-1, 2008 2-0, 2012 1-0) and they have not lost an opening match in the same period (4W 5D)

    What do you think ?

  7. Poland vs Northern Ireland

This will be Poland's 3rd Euro appearance while it is Northern Ireland's 1st Euro appearance.

Excluding out the performance and opponents, Poland had an good form along the way before the recent 2-1 defeat to Netherlands and a 0-0 stalemate with Lithuania, but they still managed to score over 34 goals since the start of 2015 though many were against weaker opponents. Defense wise seems to be shaky, conceded 10 goals in their last 10 matches, and not to forget they leaked goals against weaker opponents:

    • Germany 3-1 Poland
    • Poland 8-1 Gibraltar
    • Scotland 2-2 Poland
    • Poland 2-1 Ireland
    • Poland 4-2 Iceland
    • Poland 3-1 Czech
    • Poland 1-2 Netherlands

Northern Ireland, on the other hand, is having an impressive form, 12 matches unbeaten with only 7 goals conceded.

Hard to see which team will prevail. My opinion is Poland will probably keep on pushing forward while Northern Ireland will play a more defensive approach in this match.

Yet, judging by the odds offered (Bet365 is currently offering 1.72 for Poland 1x2 while my side is only offering a pathetic 1.60), looks highly possible a tight scoreline and I feel Poland might just scrap a win out of this match. I kind of suspect that Poland 1x2 odds will rise later in the day.

Euro record - Poland has not won their opening match in Euro (2008 2-0 defeat, 2012 1-1 draw)

    What do you think ?

  8. Wales vs Slovakia

Very tough match to make a choice. I believe this is the first Euro competition for both sides, and both sides only met twice throughout their history.

Somehow I feel that the 1x2 odds are kind of weird. Without focusing on the performance on the pitch, Wales have not won in the last 4 matches and only won once in the last 8 matches. On the other hand, Slovakia is unbeaten in 8 matches and interestingly, they had a very good run since the loss against Russia back in May 2014, winning 14 matches drawing 4 and only losing 2 along the way till now.

I thought somehow Slovakia should be given a slight edge against Wales but it seems that the market don't feel so ?
