  1. Hoffenheim - Eintracht

I believe BTTS is the best option here. Both teams are offensive minded and have players who know how to score a goal (Hoffenheim`s Kramaric, Adamyan, Bebou and Frankfurt`s Dost, Paciencia, Kostic and even centre-back Hinteregger). It is possible that Eintracht will be more tightened up at the back than usual because they are desperately in need of a win but still...  Both teams have defensive weaknesses and I hope both will try to exploit one another`s.

I like Sheff Utd +1 which can be had for just around even money.  Other than at Liverpool and Man City, Sheffield United have not lost away from home, and that includes games at Chelsea, and Spurs.  Given Aubameyang is out, I think Sheff United are more than capable of getting a draw with Arsenal, who are still in indifferent form, with the win against Man U their only home win since October.

Crystal Palace can be had at 29s if you fancy them to repeat their win from last season at the Etihad.  Palace +3 is again around the evens mark and I think that is more than fair given they have one of the tighter defences in the PL.  I can't see Man City winning that easily in this one.

Completely agree aboout Palace. One of the best teams in the league defensive vise.

If I bet on Sheffield I'd try a DRAW at HT or FT because I think they are more than capable to take something from the Emirates today.

  3. Brighton - Aston Villa

I`ve seen a couple of Brighton`s matches since Potter took charge and I have to say I was pleased with what I saw.  They beat Bournemouth at home, Chelsea sneaked out with a lucky draw and last week Everton was better and outplayed them but in the end the Seagulls could take a point. They were a bit unlucky not to take something more out of those games in my opinion. Home record is crucial in Brighton`s Premier League prospects  and that`s why I think they`ll do their best to win today - they simply feel and play much better at home than away.

As far as Aston Villa is concerned I thought they would give City much more headache last week, but the match ended up in a complete disaster for the Villains. OK, they were playing against City, but their defence looked just awful. They looked completely disorganized and clueless. Even Pep Guardiola was sympathetic towards them in an interview after the match. They`ve signed Pepe Reina this week and he will make a debut today and that is something that might give Villa some confidence.

Given the importance of the match I think we`ll see close match with a goal or two but I believe Brighton should prevail in the end. GL!

    Brighton to win @ 1,65

    Total goals scored UNDER 2,5

  4. Austria - North Macedonia +1,5       2    LOST

Macedonia mustn`t lose to progress to the next round. It`s not going to be easy that`s for sure - the match is played in Austria and support will definitely be on the hosts` side. I still believe Lazarov and his teammates have enough quality to take something out of this match.

Damn this, I'm like Arsenal FC at the moment! Also, sorry @ivanhoe for possibly getting you out of a winning bet, even though it was from a match point.

Calum Puttergil (+6) to beat Steve Johnson at 1.96 Pinnacle

While Puttergil is no world beater, he is a local guy that's trying extremely hard and Johnson is hardly among the better returners out there, so I find this line a bit too high, especially after his very average effort in the first round. Puttergil, on the other hand, won as a 5.00+ underdog against Arevalo. Hopefully my luck changes on the Challengers, I don't want to be off to another -100pts run like in the past!

Couldn`t post sooner... I`ve taken over nonetheless and made a small profit. I think Beliss is the one to watch on AO especially if she`ll be fit enough which is difficult to expect because she didn`t play competitive matches last season. I`m not saying she`ll reach semi final or final but she might be a good bet in the first couple of rounds.

  6. Guys what do you think of C.C. Bellis - Bouzkova tonight ? I remember I saw Bellis playing 2 years ago and was simply amazed with her style and shots (Sydney and Doha). Last year she completely dissapeared  (I`m not sure but I think she was injured). She made a sort of a comeback in Houston in 2019 and last week she lost to Pegula in straight sets. I know she used to be trained by Chris Evert but, as I said, I`m not sure what`s going on with her.

Bouzkova is quite solid on hard and my initial thought was to try an OVER in this match. More info more than welcome !

  7. Montenegro +3,5 - Belarus 1   LOST

I`ve written about Montenegro before. Solid team, good coach and even more motivated after their 1st victory ever on European championship. Belarus on the other didn`t impress me vs Croatia though I have to admit they`re organized and talented side. Individual quality is on Belarus` side. This is a decisive match - a team that wins this qualifies for the 2nd round. I believe Montenegrins will stay close till the end.

    Iceland - Russia +2,5    2      LOST

Odds have dropped on Iceland, but Russia won`t be such an  easy prey for them imo. Iceland is not the team they used to be at their peak though they beat Denmark in the opening game and that was a big surprise - at least for me. I believe we`ll se a close game and wouldn`t rule out another surprise here. Low stakes though.

Croatia - Serbia  over 56,5     LOST

Defence is Croatia`s trademark but I wouldn`t be surprised to see goal fest tonight. Yes, there is always rivalry between these two sides but the relationship between the coaches and the players is really good so I don`t expect a lot of fouls and I think we`ll see a bit more open game than usual. I mustn`t forget to say that Croatia has already qualified for the next round (will take maximum of 2 points in the newly made group)  and Serbia is out. Croatian coach Cervar said he`ll use players who didn`t play so much in the previous matches and that might another factor that`ll go in favour of my bet. I`m quite sure Croatia will win today and for those who like to try bigger odds I would recommend to try X at half time, or half time / full time  2/1. Low stakes of course.

  8. Real Madrid - Atletico Madrid dnb 2 @2,25

I`ll back Simeone`s side today. Yes, I know, Real with Zidane has shown us many times that they know how to win trophies but this time I think momentum is on Atletico`s side. They magnificently managed to turn around the result vs Barcelona and I believe that will be additional boost to Simeone`s boys. I think Real`s key players (Ramos, Modric, Kroos,..) are showing signs of fatigue and their age has to be taken into consideration. One mustn`t forget that Real came to Saudi Arabia without Bale and, even more important, Benzema who has been in tremendous form lately. Yes, Real has enough firepower on the bench to replace these two well but we all know how hard is to play vs Ateletico`s defence.

With Oblak and Curtois between the posts I don`t think we`ll see many goals but I believe Atletico could snatch a narrow win today. Low stakes. GL!

  9. Montenegro +1 - Serbia  pick 1   WON

Montenegro has a solid team, they have a very good coach who is a real leader and has the authority, a personality that players like and will follow him whatever happens. In a match vs Croatia I saw that the team spirit and cohesion is on a decent level.

On other side we have Serbia who has more quality but I have to say that recent period has been rather chaotic in Serbian handball association and atmosphere is far from perfect. To cut the long story short, I believe we'll see a close match and I wouldn't exclude a draw as the final result.

  10. Moreirense - Porto 2      WON

Moreirense are a solid team for Portuguese standards. Last year they managed to end 6th which was excellent and a sign that the club is on the right track. This year they have had " hot and cold" periods which is shown by their home record which is really good and the away record which looks awful.

Today they host Porto. Porto have not been that good so far but they`re still a force in Portugal. They`ll be extra motivated because they want to end Benfica`s dominance in the last couple od seasons and the big plus is definitely an away win vs Sporting. With Conceicao on the bench I know that Porto will go for the win right form the start.

I shall also try Porto ht/ft. GL !

  11. Croatia - Montenegro 1st half under 26,5 goals pick WON

I know only a few of the forum members follow handball, but it is, besides football, basketball, tennis and water polo, national sport here in Croatia.  It is a fact that we are not the team we used to be quality wise, but we have more depth than Montenegrins. Montenegro will be without a couple of first team players due to injuries. The game is played in Graz, Austria and Croatia should have more than a decent support there.

Why under ? Our coach Cervar has always based his philosophy on defence and it won`t be different this time. Montenegrins, due to a lack of quality and the injuries mentioned above, will probably put accent on defence too - especially in the first half in which they will want to stay as close as possible.

I see Croatia winning in the end but it it`s not going to be a walk in the park imo. Low stakes. GL.

Who's your guys pick on the Verdasco Krajinovic match ? @South_African_Punter Maybe you have some pick on this one also.. the line is nearly even.. I guess its a hard match to decide.. Verdasco was hitting the ball well yesterday.. I can verify that but he wasn't serving well.. That could improve in his next match.. Krajinovic does have a serving advantage but I think Fernando will be able to outhit him in Qatar.. I'm overthinking this bet waayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much, and haven't done anything on it yet.

I`ll be backing Krajinovic here. My pick is based on motivation. Filip is 27 and he HAS NEVER won an ATP tournament before. I see this tournament as an ideal chance for him to raise the trophy. When you have Verdasco on the other side of the net you know it`s not going to be easy but when I compare these two I see  Krajinovic who`s 9 years younger and a very good player in my opinion and Verdasco who`s full of experience but is also in some kind of final stage of his career.

  13. Pyramids - Ismaily sc 1@1,90    BET WON

Former Croatian national team coach Ante Cacic took over the helm of FC Pyramids two weeks ago. He started with a victory in African Confederations cup  and then lost in Egyptian premier league. As far as I have read so far FC Pyramids is a big project in African terms and pressure on players and coaching staff is high.

I have to warn you that two days ago odds on home win was only 1,60 at my local bookie. I don't know the exact reason why it has risen so much, but despite that I'll put some money on the hosts. Low stakes though.

  14. I`ve taken Sevilla to win. Sanchez Pizjuan has been a fortress for a number of years and support that the home team has there is rarely seen. I don`t want to say that supporters are going to win the game for the hosts, but in matches like these they can be an important factor. If Sevilla wins tonight they`ll keep up the pace with Real and Barca in an attempt to go for the title (they won their only title in 1946 !!). With the arrival of Lopetegui Sevilla started playing "responsible football" defensive vise and that was something new for Sevilla supporters who were used to free-flowing attacking football in the previous seasons. In my opinion Sevilla has quality players in all the lines but I have to highlight their forwards with the likes of Munir, De Jong and Chicharito that can outscore any opponent.

Athletic Bilbao have a very good team and they have the 2nd best defensive line in La Liga conceding only 12 goals in 18 matches. They play better at home than away and tonight they`ll play without their captain Muniain and Aduriz. It`s not going to be easy for Sevilla tonight but I think they will score 1 goal more than Bilbao in the end.

    Sevilla to win @1,66

Sevilla - Bilbao both teams to score NO @ 1,62

  15. Liverpool - Sheffield Utd

Liverpool are facing Sheffield tonight in an attempt to continue their Premier league fairy-tale this season. Shall we call them "the invincibles" at the end of the season ?? It`s still a long way till there and I think we won`t. Why? Well, mostly because of their tight schedule. I`ve just counted and found out that this will be their 32nd competitive game this season. That`s SOME number considering 2020 has just started. I won`t write about Klopp and his men because I believe we all know how good they are and what they are capable of. I`ll just mention that they`ll be without Matip, Shaquiri, Lovren, Chamberlain, Clyne and Tavares who have all been injured for a while now.

I have to admit I underestimated "the Blades" many times this season. I simply thought Premier League would be much tougher nut to crack than Championship. They proved me wrong and rightly so. In my opinion they are a solid, hard-working team with a very good manager who knows what each player is capable of and how to draw maximum from each of them. Yes, they`re A TEAM. When you become a team that means something in football. This is their 23rd game of the season and they played 7 in December only (Liverpool played 8 in December including the exhausting trip to FIFA Club World Cup). Given the circumstances I think Sheffield could take a point or three from Anfield tonight. If not that, at least they are able to make this match interesting to watch. That`s why I`ll try :

Sheffield Utd DOUBLE CHANCE and Sheffield UTD to score

  16. First I would like to say hi to all the members of this brilliant community. I`ve been following the forum for a long time now and I`ve (finally) decided to contribute a bit more with a pick or two here and there. Let`s say this is some kind of my New Year`s resolution. Now off with the picks...

Norwich - Crystal Place Under 2,5

I real like Palace this year. They are a team in the true sense of the word, they have an excellent well experienced coach and with players like Zaha they posses a threat wherever they play. I addition to that they are defensively, at least in my opinion, one of the better sides in the Premier League. They`re in a middle of an injury crisis right now and their bench looks really weak.

On the other hand we have Norwich that sits last on the table and I believe this will be a sort of  do-or-die match for them. They`ve had  I expect a tight match with a goal or two because none of the sides won`t like to concede first and will wait for their opponent`s mistakes.

    Southampton - Tottenham  2

Tottenham should have the edge over Saints today. It`s not easy to play Southampton on St Mary`s but I think Mourinho`s side will push for the win right from the start because they won`t want to lose the chance to fight for the Champions League spot next season. I believe Spurs will score one more that the hosts.

well not really. u can say it was unfortunate day for betters. some sets ran unnecessarily into 3 sets when they should have finished in 2 sets. rublev was up 3-0 in the 4th set and blew it. thank god his opponent was not nadal or federer. ferrer was very poor in that match, venus was completely out of touch and so was stephens. she had the game won in 2nd set when she was 5-4 up and then she threw the game. you don't throw games in grand slams. It was not a day of upsets but day of misfortunes for sports bettors

Completely agree with you.I hit 1 of 3 last night.Bellis won the first set zie-break and the fell appart.Usually when a player who I bet on loses a tie break he/she loses the second set easily.Well that'a what one would call that beautiful world of betting.

Krunic was close but she did not win in the end, again a close call but close doesn't count.

The only match I guessed right was Puig-Stosur over.

  18. Puig - Stosur over 21,5

I expect a close match between these two.Puig is a solid hard court player while Stosur with plenty of experience on AO.We could easily watch 3 sets tonight.

    Bertens - Bellis  2

I watched Bellis last week and I really like her style - calm, cool and with nice array of shots.Bertens is not an easy opponent for the first round of a Grand Slam tournament but I believe Bellis is simply a better player.

    Kontaveit - Krunic 2

I`ll back Serbian player in this duel. She leads 1-0 in H2H but I dont think that`s crucial.Krunic has improved a lot and I think she`s right when she says last season was succsessful for her. She`s fully motivated for this one and she`s shown by now that she knows how to play on hard court.I`m not saying it`ll be an easy match for Krunic but I believe she`ll prevail in the end.
