This was just my take on the resulting tables - there may be a better method that we all may find in the coming weeks - but it's certainly looking promising. My personal take is that by using 3 predictor programs it evens out the formula weighting bias that the individual systems may have. Just need DavidC to keep feeding me the BG numbers, if willing :ok

Re: Times Newspaper Predictor. Hi Merlin, 50% would have eliminated 2 matches this week (both the games in League 2) 3/4 is very good but 5/6 is excellent. Last week would have shown 4/5 with 50% or 5/6 with 48% I agree 50% is a convienient round number - but that's all it is It's still very early days and time will tell the best cut off point but I was looking at many combinations of numbers and 48% was the best number I found - SO FAR !!!!

Re: Michael Wray Spreadsheet system Hi Foolsgold, I can understand to a certain degree the concern you raise - Personally I prefer to use a 3 prediction combination method as in Merlins TP strategy thread. But I don't fully understand your concern below :-

You are trusting money to a forumla that you don't fully understand, based on a data sample that is statisically without meaning.

I can understand your concern if the results were produced with some form of random element - but surely the data sample of past results isn't without meaning and is the basis of other prediction engines ?

Re: Times Newspaper Predictor. Hi Merlin, I've cancelled the League 2 - 28/12 Shrewsbury v Macclesfield result I somehow had it down as 0-0 ????? But it wont let me cancel the Championship - Leeds vs Crystal palace match - as it says no result has been entered. The only conclusion I can make is that I've only just uploaded the datasheets ( more recently than yourself) when the match has been rescheduled for February - hence it didnt show up on my search. I'll recheck my findings and alter the tables.

Championship - 23/08 Leeds U v Crystal P League 2 - 28/12 Shrewsbury v Macclesfield On both occasions I've entered a result - I've checked the respective official club websites and both matches have not yet been played. Who do you use to get your results ?

Hi Merlin, Very strange, yet they are all within 1 goal - I'm stumped :unsure - I've double checked all my inputs - The only thing I can think of just now is that some of the results I've added, have been played recently but they date back to postponed matches in December - could that account for it ?

Hi Larry :welcome As Merlin said I cheated and used DavidC's BG figures at the start of this thread - I'm not signed up to the trial but I would be happy to do another table this week if it helps and DavidC could post or PM me the figures. How many bookies do you need to open accounts with to take advantage of the early prices ? I'm guessing sp = starting price - have you ever checked to see if it's more profitable to use betfair for this or the bookies ? Also if the price drops quickly after your posting is it still worth placing the bet ? TIA

Re: Michael Wray Spreadsheet system Hi Merlin, Yes thanks, after a little bit of playing around :unsure I got the past results off the BBC Sport website - after entering all the data I somehow managed shut it down without saving the updates :wall but all seems to be ok now. Just a quicky - are the best picks 3-0 or does 3-1 qualify - reason I ask is that Reading were 3-0 but after the update they are 3-1 ?

I downloaded MW's spreadsheets and had to play around with the macro's to get it to work and all is great now thanks - Shame there is no Scottish League - A question I have though is how do I update them ? Davidc - Thanks for the headsup on BG will you still be continuing the thread past the trial - I imagine you'd be able to post the results but not the selections beforehand ?
