There is one horse I like in particular today, Carlton who runs in the 2.45 at Ayr and is currently priced at 12/1. This horse started out with Godolphin for Β£350,000 and was trained by John Gosden, but obviously didn't live up to expectations as he was sold after 3 novice/maiden runs for 25,000gns. Since then he has run 13 times for Tracy Waggott, winning once (at Newcastle) off a mark of 57. I actually backed him last time out as he was back to a competitive mark of 58, and was also returning to the scene of his only win. He was fairly well backed late on (12s into 8s) and was prominent but suffered some race-ending interference around 2f out when making his move and never recovered, seemingly finishing full of running. Up in trip today from 1m 4f to 1m 5f should suit with the way he has stayed on in some of his races and he is relatively unexposed on turf and especially over this trip.
