  1. Re: How much to play Jacks in cash poker? Got jacks in cash game last night.50p/£1 I'm playing £127 most others £80 - £210. Seat 1 50p Seat 2 £1 Seat 3 Straddle £2 Seat 4 Straddle £4 Seat 5(me) Straddle £8 ( re straddling been regular feature tonight) Seat 6 Pass Seat 7 Call £8 Seat 8 Pass Seat 9 Pass Seat 10(button) Raise to £24 (i interpertate this as a button steal ) All passed to me i go all in £127 with Jacks All passed to Button who calls and has me covered. Board 237 Q A He shows A9 , takes the pot. As played preflop , i think i would do the same most of the time. Do you think i should flat call the £24 then bang it on the 7 high flop ? or check fold if an A or K flops ?

  2. I'm looking to open a few new betting accounts in time for Cheltenham with the intention of cashing in on the free bets offers. Q1. Those firms which give a free bet matching your first bet , if the free bet comes in can it be withdrawn immediately or do you have to gamble several times first ? Q2. Is Bet365 a reputable firm ? A fellow punter says they are cowboys who don't lay bets to advertised prices , any truth in there? Q3. Anyone know of some good offers out there ?

  3. Re: How much to play Jacks in cash poker? If there is 3 , 4 , 5 betting pre flop , surely it is not good in the long term if we get our entire stack in preflop with jacks , assuming we are deep stacked? If we are put all in preflop when holding jacks do we get it all in ?

  4. Re: Should late jockey changes be penalised? If you place a bet on the day of the event based on the information available and this info was not accurate , then i think there should be a getout clause for punters. An example may be that the course have given out wrong going discriptions which has happened on occasions. You back a good ground horse based on the good going discription , but after the first race it is offically changed to soft/heavy in places.Under this circumstance i think we should be entitled to our money back. Its not like an ante post horse bet or a football bet where the event takes place in the future. If we're not given the correct information on the day of the event we should get the chance of a refund.

  5. Re: Should late jockey changes be penalised? There should be a clause which allows punters to void their bet if circumstances change dramatically such as the regular pilot getting injured on an earlier race. I recall quite a few years back , i put an enormous sum on Muneefa a Saeed Bin Suroor runner at Salisbury. J Reid was scheduled to ride but was replaced by Sophie Mitchell quite late on in the afternoon.I begged the betting shop manager to void the bet because it was several times bigger than my normal bet.He refused which i kind of knew would happen anyway. The horse finished second, i'd have had a bet 5 times smaller if i knew she was riding. Other jockeys who i loathed being put up late on my selections were G Bradley , N Williamson and J Osbourne. I would never be confident as to whether they would try or not , especially N Williamson and when i've already backed each way , he would rarely ride out for a place. Not putting S Mitchell in the same catagory in the 3 mentioned above , but i'd have prefered a group jockey on that occasion.

  6. I want to join a new poker site with the intention of clearing the welcome bonus. I currently play 3/4 hours a day , 6 days a week. I play mostly $5 double ups and $0.05/0.10 cash games. No tournaments.Usually 4 tables at the same time. At these stakes which poker site could i join where i can clear the welcome bonus easily? Thanks

  7. In a live 50p/£1 cash poker game i'll probably raise between £5 and £8 possibly a little more if there are a few limpers. I'll call probably up to around £20 if fully stacked. What should i take into account in low level cash online poker? I normally play between $0.05 /0.10 and $0.10/0.20 .When raising i normally raise 3 or 4 times the big blind ,which works for me. The problem i have is what is the maximum be i should call with jacks? In $0.05/0.10 should i be calling a 30 times the big blind raise with Jacks? At $3.00 it it is still ridiculously cheap even though it is 30 bigs.(considering i'd call £20 live) Would making these calls at this level be bad for long term play ?

  8. Re: Barney Curley - How does he get away with it? I would say he's played the game within the rules of racing. He has committed no crime. He's been under the microscope since the 1970s and always been one step ahead of the game. He has spent millions of his own money on the purchasing and training of racehorses with the sole purpose of pulling off gambles. When it became unviable for him to punt in Ireland he came to Newmarket and set up as a trainer in the mid 80s. This was because there was too much leakage of info regarding his horses, and this way he could control the secrecy. As a trainer he owns the majority of the horses in the stable bar a few for his friend Pat Byrne and they need to be for paid somehow and punting is the way he does it. He's not in the game for trophy's , breeding or even the paltry prizemoney. He's in the game to punt for himself and not for the public. I have been an admirer of his for many years , long may he shaft the bookies.

  9. Re: Bad Trainers

Ruth Carr from last 160 odd runners.. 0/160 Thats just like saying Liverpool are still a great team because they were prolific back in the 80's... On current form, it has to be said Ruth Carr's record is etrocious.. Of course she will hit form again, but to not have 1 winner in so long is sort of inexcusable in my opinion. If she is such a capable trainer, why such the bad spell? Its not like she got a new bunch of horses
Henry Cecil from 2000 to 2007 had only a handful of winners. Does that mean during those years he became an atrocious trainer during that time? Would you find it inexcusable for him to go 7 years without a GR1 winner having mopped up year in year out during the 70s , 80s and 90s ?
  10. Re: Bad Trainers

Ok just to stop the witch hunt, i think Grayson is a really nice fella and a very good trainer mis-led by his poor staff, poor horses and poor facilities.. It is not his fault that horses fall to pieces once they join his stable, i will send someone out to do a sample on the grass in his fields and a lead content sample in his water!! Poor Mr Grayson cannot be blamed for any of this, lets give him a luxurious holiday to the Carribean, he deserves a break!! In the meantime im off to cook my bacon, turnip, spuds and parsley sauce! :drums
Aidymac you come across as a immature young man.
  11. Re: Bad Trainers I'm not disputing P Graysons poor record on paper. I'm just saying you are giving him a hard time for circumstances which cannot be recified at the moment. It seems like this P Grayson witch hunt has spilled over here from another forum.

  12. Re: Bad Trainers When training what does a Sir M Stoute or P Nicholls physically do differently to a P Grayson ? If anything P Grayson may be more hands on whereas the other 2 watch from a distance. ( only an assumption as they're both physically out of shape whereas as P Grayson is slim and in his 30s) I believe its more the horses , facilities , staff , enviorment rather than the trainer himself. Remember Mikey Heaton Ellis the wheelchair confined trainer doring the 90s , the other components of the operation made it a success wheras Ellis was just the guy in charge.

  13. Re: Bad Trainers I think its a bit harsh to call them bad trainers. The mentioned trainers obviously know how to train as they've had success in the past. I think its just a case of poor quality horses or viruses. Question , If you put Sir M Stoute in Peter Graysons yard and vice versa with everything still the same , horses , staff , facilities etc , would the results be reversed ? Personally i think no. It would be P Grayson having the winners and Sir M Stoute having the losers.

  14. Re: Betting Each Way. Yes/No? Why? Is there a good reason why bookies offer 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4 for h'caps but 1/5 1,2,3 for non h'caps ? Examples are the big 2YO sales races like at Doncaster on St Ledger Day or the Fox Hunters Chase at the Grand National meeting , both attracting 30+ runners yet 1/5 odds 1,2,3 ! What is the logical reasoning for the differing odds and place terms ? In 20+ years of punting i've not come across a decent answer.

  15. I placed an ante post on a horse in this race a few weeks back which subsequently became injured and pulled out of the betting . The bets i placed on this race today have been refunded into my account. Question . Do i have a claim to a refund on my ante post bet as the race did not run ? Or is it only applicable to horses in the final lineup today ? I'm sure there is a precedent for this as many big ante post races are lost each season due to the weather or something similar. Thanks
