  1. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Betfred are about to increase their deduction on their Tote win from 13.5% to 16.5% !! They are suggesting the bigger take will be better for the punters !!! Work that one out . The Tote pools are poorly performing as it is with 30% for some of their more exotic bets , a bigger take will see less punters prepared to use this option. We're being Done over

The first weekend on October is always the Arc meeting at Longchamp , together with Ascot and Newmarket its busy weekend for Godolphin , yet Frankie is not riding for them till Sunday , tonight he is riding in the USA tonight a couple of mounts for Paul Reddam who together tasted Breeders Cup glory a few years ago with Red Rocks. Barzalona and SDS are taking most of the mounts. In past years Frankie has always been at Longchamp on the Saturday and Sunday for Godolphin / Sheikh Mohammed and is normally fully booked with outside rides too. Will he still be Godolphins No1 next season ? He's on Camalot in the Arc for AP O'Brien a move which nearly got him sacked 7 years ago despite Godolphin having a runner . Interesting to see Paddy Pow-er offering odds for him to be Coolmore's No1 next year.
Upon further reading , it transpires that Frankie informed Godolphin that he was riding Camalot via text message. If this is true then it looks like after 2 decades of service Frankie wants out of Godolphin . Taking the Camalot ride would most likely have rattled Sheikh Mohammed's cage. Maybe losing a few high profile Godolphin rides including St Ledger winner Encke to his younger team mates has caused him to take this action . As a betting man I'd say its 7/4 that he'll not be riding for Godolphin next year.Anyone willing to take my £5 ?
  3. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread The Prix D'Labbaye, Europes premier sprint race where UK/Ireland always do well is held in the car park !! The BBCs camera coverage of this race year after year is bl-oody awful. I know its held in the car park but after a few decades why can't the TV companies give us decent pictures of the race. They're always obscure angles and you cannot follow the action at any stage of the race . I'm sure this years rendition will be just as hard to follow.

Frankie got a boll-ocking for winning the St Ledger on Coolmores Scorpion a few years back when the Coolmore / Maktoum war still burning strong. Would love to see multiple Group 1 winning jockey Seamie Heffernan get a chance. Now young Joseph has been kicked off , Camelot looks more of a betting proposition regardless of who is riding.
It seems the feud between the 2 sides has been less intense in recent years with Coolmore sending horses to the Dubai World Cup meeting and Godolphin reciprocating the gesture by allowing Frankie to ride for them.
  6. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread

Frankie maybe? he's itching for a spare ride in it-stranger things have happened!

  7. Re: Congrats Pricewise! Mel Cullinan todays Pricewise tips the 7/2 fav ( 9/4 SP ) in the 1.55 New which Ladbrokes were industry best , guess what , its unplaced !! I'm sure Ladbrokes confir with Pricewise so they can make false tips industry best and ones with a fighting chance the industry worst. His tips in the 2.25 and 3.40 New were instry worst with Ladbrokes .

  8. Re: Congrats Pricewise! Similar to my last post , Ladbrokes are / were seemingly in bed with Coolmore with Magnier/ Tabor shareholders ( or were ) , Ladbrokes in the last few years are often the worst price about Coolmore winners and longest price about Coolmore losers. In the St Ledger they offered a free bet of up to $20 ( pounds ) if you backed Camalot and it lost as we all know. It was seemingly a generous offer , but they managed to get our $20 and us trapped in the process , the stakes is not returned on the free bet and you have to also back a winner so its not like a genuine $20 refund.

  9. Re: Congrats Pricewise! Tom Segal is part of the Ladbrokes tipping team I think or the very least a guest of the company for which I imagine he enjoys a few perks. I was going to post this on Saturday morning but had to do a few domestic chores instead. He posted 6 tips on Saturday , 5 of which Ladbrokes were the offering worst price , the other one Ladbrokes offered the industry best and I was going to suggest that this would be one to lay because he is in bed with them . As it happens he had 2 tips in one race the winner which Ladbrokes were the industry worst and a loser which Ladbrokes were the industry best !! Conspiracy theorist work that one out.

  10. Re: Congrats Pricewise! I gave up following Pricewise over 10 years ago when back then I was restricted to between $10 - $25 , not sure what the limits are today but I'd imagine they are pretty similar. Even Tom Segals predecessors tips were restricted , so even back then you couldn't get a decent bet on. Today its even harder because there is no / seemingly no time guarantee for prices.Up to a few years ago it would be guarenteed in the shops till 10.15am , which gave you a 15 minute window to get a tenner on at the advertised price. A few years ago at the end of every year , the RP would show off Pricewise and say how much profit they are in front for the year , I specifically remember Mel Collier often being in front , I don't think his protege Tom Segal can currently make that claim. All his tips are available online to see , not sure if I can advertise the site , have a good look its not hard to find.

  11. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread

In Yarmouth 3.15 race the winner is a 125/1 horse and by 5l!!! Didn't see such a price (especially in a 10f 13 run race) in a long time... Quite unbelievable.
Clive Brittain one of my favorite trainers , absolutely fantastic. Punters often dismiss his horses like his Derby second , Terimon at 500/1 !!
  12. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Francome and McGraph came up with every possible excuse without blaming young Joseph or Aiden . They never have anything bad to say about jockeys or trainers , its like a secret club. Whereas John McCririck was the opposite and spoke his mind , posssibly the same as most of the public that it was the poor ride that prevented us from seeing a triple crown winner.A A lot of people claim to dislike Big Mac but at least you get an honest opinion rather than some brown nose comments.

  13. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread

This has to be the final nail in the coffin......tactically inept' date='doent have good hands,a poor judge of pace nor do i think he is the strongest in a finish either.....yes.....CAMELOT may have been a little under par.........but those on here who have defended J O BRIEN and said the horse didnt stay seriously need their heads examined or need to see the race again........he waited far too long to ask the horse the question[was still cantering a good while after BARCALONA had given the winner the office'] and his positioning of the horse on the rail was naive to say the least........ Have seem him get beat on a few jollys in ireland in which the rides can be described as less than judicious....and he has given ST NIC at least 3 shocking rides this season:$......surely MAGNIER and TABOR must find a PROPER jockey to replace this CLOWN........and yes the phrase is correct......
Totally agree with you Bags is Bent , Camelot was the best horse but wasn't given the best ride . I think its a bit harsh to call young Joseph a clown , he's only a kid with only 3 years riding experience. I think Aiden has to shoulder more of the blame for a number of reasons . His insistance of using young Joseph rather than a proper jockey . His arogance in thinking the horse was good enough and not to have the ususal 2 pace makers as we often see in the big races. Probably his instructions to young Joseph to sit and wait and wait. I said this earlier in the season that Magnier and Tabor will not tolerate too many mistakes and this one may be the final straw. Kinane , Spencer , Fallon and Murtagh have been dispensed with for unknown public reasons and I can see young Joseph collecting his P45 come November. Maybe they'll say something like he's having weight problems as a cover up.
  14. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Fantastic to see M Al Zarooni win another classic , I think he's one of the best trainers , He's only been training just a few years what an achievement , I can see him winning a Trainers championship in the very near future. Very disappointed with the reaction of the crowd when he went to collect his trophey , or the lack of it. Have to also say that I think M Barzalona is absolutly top class , another Group 1 in such a short amount of time , Epsom Derby , Dubai World Cup amongst others and now this , fantastic.

  15. Re: The Jockey Thread

Another awful by Joseph O'Brien today , this time on odds on shot St Nicholas Abbey . For me he doesn't have the experience required for riding on top horses and top races . We have all seen him win a few top races but that is usually because he is on the best horse. Today he didn't read the script and allowed the 66/1 pacemaker to win the race. J Murtagh who was on the 2nd favorite also left it a little too late , although he wasn't on the best horse. To me it looks like there is way too much resting on the shoulders of the golden boy , fair enough he is only a young kid but a lot of money is determined by his actions , from a betting and stud value point of view. MJ Kinane and J Spencer were sacked as a result of mistakes on the racecourse , how much longer will the Coolmore bosses tolerate his inexperience. I have so far not lost a lot of money on young Joseph , but I won't feel confidant having a decent sized wager if I fancy one of his mounts in a top race later in the season.
Young Joseph does not have enough experience in top races , no bet in the race , just my opinion. Disgrace that nobody applauded the winner when he got into the enclosure , and it was silent during the trophy presentation. Disgrace.
  16. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Barry Hills liked to target Doncaster , notably the Lincoln meeting and also the St Leger meeting , Charlie his son who took over last year has had 2 winners at Donny so far both under multiple Group 1 winning jockey Michael Hills with a few others placed here and there , maybe worth a consideration when flicking through the pages of the form book.

  17. Re: The Jockey Thread

Willie Musson is just a poor man's Barney Curley.
Willie Musson likes to prepare his horses for betting purposes , the trick is to be on when their money is on . He likes to use job jockey A Culhane for landing gambles but he has sneaked off to India this summer , maybe because of declining opportunities . He also likes to use J Mackey and S Donahoe both who have worked for Sir M Prescott extensively in the past so are very much clued up about handbraking procedures and landing touches.
  18. I don't know about you guys but I have found 2012 a disappointing year from the viewpoint of betting and also as a spectator / racing fan. Firstly the weather as a whole has been abnormal , plenty of rain producing unpredictable results . A lot of fast ground horses have not had their ideal ground and the preparation of some early season types was delayed because of excessive rain. I like to wade into Group 1s because most connections are trying 100% and there is a lot less hanky panky in these types of races , however this year for one reason or another I've not had a big bet. Black Caviar , Frankel , SNA and Camelot have been odds on in some of their respective races that betting opportunities are negliable / slim .The classics haven't been that exciting with only Camelot emerging as a superstar , his triple crown attempt whilst good for the sport makes little betting appeal. Frankels races haven't been betting opportunites , I layed him big in the Lockinge at 1/4 but he whizzed it. The last 2 named whilst are so far ahead of their rivals , its boring to watch them stroll in the park with their opponents pushing and not making any impact. Frankel without doubt a superstar and one of the best in a generation or 2 , is going for the Champion Stakes and is currently 1/10 ante post to beat the same rivals he's beaten time and time again . We all suspect he stays an extra 300 odd yards so why not show the public the ceiling of his ability and go for the Arc ? This is the race we all want him to go for but it looks like they're going for the safer option. The only thing I'm looking forward to is a donkey rated in the 40s who will hopefully get me out of the **** if the trainer can leave the handbrake off. Overall not a vintage year bar the 2 superstars , what do you think ?
