  1. Re: Outrights - Champs League & Europa I would be very wary of backing Juve to win the tournament. They can count themselves lucky yesterday. They were at times terrorised by Suarez, who is of course a good player, but not world-class. Amauri seems to be scoring again which is a huge boost as when he is playing well he is a nightmare. They do possess one of the better squads in the tournament but could easily be beaten by a better side than Ajax. Having said that I just browsed down the outright market and realised just how poor a tournament this is.

  2. Re: UEFA Europe League 16-18 February I have decided to leave Roma alone tonight. Yes they are in fantastic form and Vucinic seems to be pulling his weight. But I am sure the stadium will be rocking tonight, and when in that atmosphere it will be impossible for the Greek team to think of anything but that match. Plus Baptista is never far away from a shit performance.

  3. Re: Champions League Wed 17 February Porto vs. Arsenal There are a lot of diverging opinions on this match tonight. Upon thinking about this fixture there was only one outcome that struck my mind, a draw. Porto are a very good home side regardless of who they are playing, and have been over a long time. Arsenal at the moment have some players missing e.g. Arshavin, Eduardo and co. The attackers will be a loss, but I wouldn't have thought them being available would change too much as I think Arsene would have played a 4-5-1, and Bendtner is probably the best choice for lone striker. Where Arsenal will excel in this match is in Midfield. They will be able to pass the ball around for fun tonight. If fabregas gets close as possible to Bendtner then they could cause a few problems, but on the whole I don't think Arsenal will terrorise Porto tonight. Porto themselves from what I remember like playing fairly direct with the 3 up front. All dangerous players in their own right, but not at the level which will have Arsenal too worried. With only having 3 in midfield they will have to work very hard to compete with Arsenal in that area. At the end of the day, I don't think Arsenal can win this match with the team they have and I don't think Porto will have enough to put Arsenal away. Draw - 3.35 - 3 units.

  4. Re: UEFA Europe League 16-18 February I am taking Juve DNB at 5/6 (PP). While it is still uncertain as to how strong the side named will be I think it will likely be stronger than Ajax's. While I am still very unsure about Zach as manager with the DNB cover I feel a lot safer. Not to belittle Ajax too much as they do possess some dangerous players (namely Suarez) however my knowledge of them as a side is limited to say the least. I have no doubt that reserve players such as Giovinco and Candreva would walk into their team. On the whole I think there will be a mixture of first-teamers and reserve members in the Juve side and I am confident that they won't lose. Juve DNB 5/6 - Paddy power - 3 units.

  5. Re: UEFA Europe League 16-18 February These matches are so dependent on team news. I do not know to what degree any of the teams will take it seriously. For Roma it may be more of an inconvenience as they are in a fierce battle with Milan. I do not think they will write the comp off though and they will probably have a competitive side out. Juve I am not sure about either. They are trying to cement a champions league place and making hard work of it so this could be an inconvenience too. They do look tempting at 2.84 against Ajax.

  6. Re: Champs League = to qualify AC Milan 7/4 is a nice price as I think this tie is going to be very close. AC are a lot more dynamic than their neighbours who Man U wiped aside last year. The rest look pretty likely to go with the odds to my mind. With my teams nowhere to be seen I am supporting Sevilla as I am a huge fan of their play and I think they could make waves this year.

  7. Re: UEFA Europa League » Dec 17 I too am backing O2.5 in Genoa. It should hopefully be a very exciting match as the group is very much alive. You would expect Genoa to come flying out and get at Valencia as it is they that must win and they aren't built very well to defend. Valencia are built very well for a counter-attacking match. With either of Albelda/Baraja/Banega capable of holding while Silva, Mata and Villa breaking. Stats wise Genoa have scored 7 and conceded 8 in 5 games. Valencia have scored 10 and conceded 7 in 5. I dont know of team news right now but I would imagine the squads will be as strong as possible. Over 2.5 goals 1.9 - Low stakes.

  8. Re: Champions League » Dec 09 Kiev v Barcelona There is no doubting that the "must win" factor can sometimes be overstated as many of us found out last night. However when dealing with Barcelona in a somewhat "must win" situation I look at it differently. Barca are the most complete side in the world and succeed where others fail. Being in this situation is entirely their own fault of course, but you can always expect them to turn it on. I am not sure what state the pitch will be in, but as mentioned previously it will be cold tonight. One would hope that on such an occasion Pep can drive that factor out of the players and make sure they get the job done. The line-up is not completely settled but I would expect a strong team as it is far from impossible for Barca to go out tonight. The presence of Ibra up front would leave me a lot more confident than if he does not play. He could be very important tonight. Bottom line is, if I cannot back Barca to win against Kiev in this situation then I do not know who I can back. Barcelona win 1.65 - High stakes.

  9. Re: Champions League » Dec 08 The more I look, the more I think Juve will do Bayern tonight. Juve have managed their relative success so far this season without either Del P or Amauri playing too well (if at all). If they start to click, as well as Diego behind them with the ideal midfield 3 of Melo, Marchisio and Sissoko Juve will be formidable. Rightly or Wrongly I don't think much of this Bayern side and I going to bet bigger than first stated on the back of my rising confidence.

  10. Re: Champions League » Dec 08 Juventus vs. Bayern I have taken Juve to beat Bayern in this match. Irrespective of team news I havn't thought too much of Bayern this season. Neither club has performed well in Europe this season and this match should be a real wake up call for both. We won't see the same dull match we did first time round. I think this will be a real live wire with both clubs going for it. I notice still no Ribery in the last match for Bayern. I don't know if he is due back for this match. Juve had a very impressive victory over Inter at the weekend with Marchisio being a big boost back in the midfield. Both teams have big match players at their disposal but I think Juve are the better team and I fancy them to win this one. Juve win 11/8 Wolfsburg v Manchester United As mentioned previously I see the over in this match as a good bet. Man United have a pretty depleted back line, with Carrick looking likely to move back into the centre, with Fletcher at right-back. With Evra as the only recognisable defender they could have real problems. I also believe Ferguson has also left Rooney and Berba behind. Wolfsburg are no fools and know that in order to ensure passage through they need to win this match and give themselves the best chance. The best way to do that in this situation is to go at United. They have the strikers to do real damage on their day. Over 2.5 Goals 2.00 - High stakes.

  11. Re: Champions League » Nov 24 Fiorentina vs Lyon I think this has draw written all over it. If you would have offered this situation to Fiorentina at the start of the groups they would have taken it with both hands. Same for Lyon. Pretty even teams that would both accept a draw. Presuming Liverpool win, that would mean Fiorentina only have to avoid a heavy defeat to go through. Draw - 23/10 - Medium stakes

  12. Re: International Friendlies 17-18th Nov Italy v Sweden Sweden at their best are a relatively solid but uninspiring team. For tonights match they will be without Ibra, Kallstrom and Berg, who collectively are a massive loss. Out of the remaining players towards the top of the pitch I know little or nothing about any of them. Italy had a pretty good outing against the Dutch and looked relatively solid as compared to how they have looked recently. For this match Lippi is making a few changes, which is excellent. Candreva has had a good season so far and will get his second cap and Pazzini will lead the line. A projected line-up of: Marchetti; Maggio, Chiellini, Legrottaglie, Criscito; Montolivo, Biondini; Marchionni, Candreva, Di Natale; Pazzini has got me looking forward to watching the match. Italy at home with this side should have more than enough to do away with the swedes. At odds of 1.9 I will certainly take that with a fair amount of confidence.
