  1. Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd of March Doncaster 4.00 Mezzanisi 33-1 Stan James Pulled up on his only start over hurdles when backed from 9-2 into 4-1 2nd fav. However he made a mistake at the flight prior to that and finished distressed. Had a touch of class on the flat finishing 3rd to Red Merlin when previously seen in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock in 2009. Every chance that he's nowhere near his best now but enough of an indication in the market last time to suspect all may not be lost and with a valid excuse he's worth a chance at very big odds with a good jockey booked.

Catterick 3.20 Just Maddie 20-1 each way (bog) Ladbrokes Came good at this track on decent ground last season and the booking of a 3lb claiming jockey looks interesting off his low weight
Price has just gone so I'll have the 20's at Hills just in case I missed it at Ladbrokes
  3. Re: BBOTD Sunday 26th of February Fontwell 3.40 Topolski 9-1 (bog) Bet365 Although a big priced one, in an attempt to catch the runaway leader Aidymac, this is also a very solid proposition. Talented on the flat when effective in soft ground, this gelding quickly notched a treble in his first season culminating in a Grade 2 win at Aintree. He's run poorly both starts this season but the stable were badly out of sorts at the time and he also injured himself on his latest start. For those reasons I'm willing to put a line through both those runs and with the yard now back amongst the winners he's a great price to bounce back to his best on a track that should suit

  4. Re: BBOTD - Sat 25th Feb Newcastle 1.50 Bar De Ligne 2-1 (bog) Betvictor The form of both his hurdle starts is working out well. Harry Topper went on to win and then place second in a grade 2 last weekend and Cross Of Honour also won his next start comfortably. Has an extra 2f to cover here but the drying ground should be in his favour.

  5. Re: BBOTD - Thu 23rd Feb 2012 Kempton 8.20 Into Wain 2-1 (bog) Betvictor In great form currently over hurdles, this gelding has an easier task than when 4th in this race last year after a lengthy absence. His proven course form gives him the edge over main market rival Layline who's in good form but unplaced from 6 starts going right handed.

  6. Re: BBOTD Sunday 19th of February 4.00 Navan Donnas Palm 10-1 (bog) Ladbrokes Heavy support for the front two in the market has caused a major drift in this ones price from an early 4-1 and 5-1 in places and I think that's been greatly overdone. This gelding is unbeaten in four attempts at this venue (including one on the flat in 2009), is said by the yard to be in great shape for this step back in trip and is well worth a chance to bounce back to form at a big price.

  7. Re: BBOTD Saturday 18th of February Ascot 1.50 Invictus 7-1 (bog) Bet Victor Worth taking a chance that this progressive youngster can give the two market leaders something to think about at the prices. He jumped really well and was just done for pace at Cheltenham last time and there's every chance that this step up in trip at a course he's won at previously will suit.

  8. Re: BBOTD Sunday 12th of February Leopardstown 3.45 Magnamimity 7-1 (bog) Boylesports A progressive young chaser that's run Bostons Angel close on a couple of occasions, initially on slow ground over shorter and then on faster ground at tomorrows trip. This is only his 7th outing over fences and he faces 3m in softish going for the first time in his chasing career, conditions which I feel he'll be ideally suited to.

  9. Re: BBOTD Sunday 5th of February Punchestown 1.50 Joxer 7-2 Boylesports (bog) Trifolium sets a really good standard and has clocked some very good times including in defeat last time. However, Joxer also clocked a decent time when beating Allure Of Illusion (runs in the first) over course and distance last time which means he's worth a try being the bigger price of the two.
