Now that you put it that way, yes it would be the jammiest route to the title(He also got the dream first round vs Dale). If it's another 7-1 or 6-2 tonight it might be over in the third session! The beeb showed some stat this afternoon that said Jak had played 45 hours vs about 23 for Wilson to get to the final so his tank is likely empty due to this.
-
Bingo missed too many easy balls but kudos to Jak for mopping up the leftovers. You'd think the final should be an easy win for Wilson, maybe 18-9 but we'll see if the giant killer can keep the ball rolling for another (possibly) 4 sessions...
-
That was painful watching Gilbert crumbling when he should have gone 10-10, It's going to take a huge effort to turn it round from 10-14 tomorrow.. I typed all the above last night but forgot to submit, doh! So it turned out anyway and we didn't even get to the interval this afternoon. Hopefully Jak can deliver the win tonight.

That was disappointing, I think most of us would have loved it if he won his eighth this year as the draw had opened up perfectly for him. When he went 8-6 up I thought that was it but somehow it got back to 8-8 and after a great start this evening Ronnie somehow tailed off. I would like a Gilbert/Jones final now but hope we have a new winner this year at least! 3 qualifiers reaching the semis could be a record too...
-
That would be an amazing final! Most of the purists would love John vs Ronnie though:-)
-
Finally a couple of bum-clenchingly close second-round matches with Jackpot blowing it again and Higgins making another signature clearance started off with a ballsy double to the middle pocket.
-
Probably less stressful just watching from now on! The pockets are playing very tight, I reckon it's to stop Mark Allen from bagging the huge bonus for 2 147's in the triple crown events and also to prevent anyone winning the £40k (I think) prize for making one here. Call me cynical lol:-)
-
Allen looks like he's getting on top of Higgins so you may have some mileage left in your bet. Ronnie will be annoyed it's not 11-5 but as long as Ryan doesn't do a Luca tomorrow he should make the 1/4's probably against Bingo and hopefully a great 4-session match with Trump in the semis. Wilson is going very well and who know, he might make another final.
-
He could easily pull away from 5-3, the middle session could be decisive. Jackpot's been awful, should be 9-7 up but again all is not lost and he could make a comeback. I hope Joe makes a match of it tonight against the in-form Kyren.
-
Maguire really doesn't like Murphy so he'll have to play no-miss snooker to claw back from 6-10 down. Trump has got an easy bye to the semis where surely Ronnie awaits. In the top half I'd like Dave to play John again in the semis and avenge his 17-16 loss from a few years back!
-
Painful watching, how did he beat Willo last round? Jak should have gone 9-3 up which would probably have been match over but somehow it's finished 9-7 overnight. Anything could happen tomorrow if the standard continues like this.
-
Ronnie looks like he's taking it seriously this year so hopefully will have a good run and maybe bag his eighth title. Si or Jackpot in the 1/4's then Trump in the semis and Maguire/Wilson/Allen in the final?
-
Definitely a record year for the qualifiers this year, Pang should have won too but Si produced a wonder break to beat Willo. Dave Gilbert must have a great chance to reach the 1/4's again and maybe even further.
-
My gast is flabbered! What the bloody hell was that performance?! That's one qualifier through so let's see how close I get to my target of 5 or 6:-) Maguire/Jones's/Pang & Lyu/Lisowski/Day/Bingham all with good chances. *edit* I forgot about O'Connor who should finish off the job from 7-2 but we all know what Selby can do!
-
Looking forward to tomorrow, the draw seems pretty good with an easier top half. Glad that Williams avoided Page ditto Higgins / Maguire. I can't remember how many qualifiers won their L32 match last year but it wouldn't surprise me if 5 or 6 managed it this year as they have the advantage of being match-sharp from the off. Spare a thought for Dave Gilbert who was saying to Rob Walker that he didn't want another 10am Sat or Sun match this year as it's the worst timeslot but has been handed just that!
-
Shocker from Robbo after leading 8-5! Let's hope for some interesting match-ups when the draw is done tomorrow. The Welsh squad are out in force once again with only Matthew Stevens losing yesterday.
-
Some close ones but ended up on the wrong side, that's snooker for you! Hope today's matches are good watching:-)
-
He was miles ahead but somehow managed to lose 10-9 in the end.
-
Looking like a 10-0 at the moment, shame he missed the 147 chance earlier.
-
Well, I guess 10-2 qualifies as a good pasting. Ronnie still not playing that great so could be in trouble next round if Anda/Wilson take advantage early doors.
-
Sorry, my fault for just reusing the 2023 thread but thought I wouldn't clutter up the forum more than necessary:-) Both Murph and Carter might have a good run in the worlds this year.
-
I hope Ronnie gives Carter a good beating in the 1/4's but I reckon Ali has a great chance after what happened at the Masters in January.
-
He should have beaten Hossein yesterday if he had just dropped the black in to lead by 33 points with only the colours left!
-
Ronnie was awesome, did he shave his arms for the tournament as he seemed a lot less hairy than I've seen him before?
-
Well, they didn't finish until after 3 am but then again they didn't start until almost 2 am!
