I don't want to be negative here, but honestly I do not rate Southgate as a manager.

When he’s up against the likes of Mancini or Descamps that’s why we will not win, two classic senior managers, you can argue all day long about players. But to me if your not in your 1st choice position you should not be in starting line up, fair enough if injuries force your hand but first game up?

I like Tripper but should be right back or wing back not left back. What does that say to Chilwell and Shaw?

Agree on WardProwse, how we were considering taking so many rightbacks but no place for the best deadball specialist in England is beyond me. His delivery is elite

It’s not just that, I’m not a stats person but my son tells me he has played every Premiership minute for the past 2 seasons and is versatile position wise, he is top or close to top of tackles, recoveries, passing all sorts of stats including chances created. I can only put it down to playing for a non big club. Southgate was on record as saying he would select on form and fitness, if Sterling starts he is a liar. Who will be our corner taker?

I'm worried by England already, I can't name the team or formation we are going to play. I fear we will be way too cautious and play 2 holding midfielders. I feel this is a tournament that we can dominant the ball, with the likes of Grealish/Foden... but Gareth doesn't seem to like Grealish

Been trying to pick team, but centre defence worries me, almost certain 2 defensive/holding midfield, Mount & Kane then who knows Sterling/Rashford/Grealish/Fodon/Sancho. Four of which are better from left hand side, Way under cooked preparation wise with 2 meaningless friendlies and 7 or 8 not played for 3 weeks. Some of them their touch and control are not good at the best of times, mines useless by the way. Looking at what we have available Pickford, James, Stones, Mings?.., Chillwell, Phillips, Rice, Grealish, Mount, Sancho, Kane. So long as Kane doesn’t take corners and Henderson doesn’t take a penalty. I can’t believe Ward Prowse is not in the 26 at least, he would be close to my 11 if I was choosing.

  5. Well Derby Day is here, not taken with any particular selection, only one Aiden O'Brien runner and not at that price for me, having watched Bolshoi’s last race (no pacemaker this time)  I’ve gone for Joseph's Southern Lights (made no inroads on Bolshoi according to someone who writes these comments against horse form). For me watching the replay had no run and may have finished a closing 2nd if not met by 2 horses going backwards and was unable to finish his run, with an extra 2f who knows, downside not sure about low draw, seem to remember you don’t want to be in stalls 1-4 but who knows.

Anyway Sky 5 places or Paddy 4 places (with best odds) 33/1 that will do for me

  6. Well what a big match for Bolton today away at Morecambe, it really is a winner takes all fixture for promotion and a draw won’t help either with Tranmere waiting to leap frog both of them. Have to be worried about Bolton’s form after failing to beat both Colchester and then losing to Grimsby. They simply are not converting enough chances into goals. Morecambe certainly seem to be in a rich vein of form and more importantly scoring goals. Prices are tempting for a reason but no bet really as any result and any score line really wouldn’t surprise me. If Bolton think a draw would be good enough, I would be worried for them with Tranmere having all to play for. If I had to pick I think I would side with Morecambe and see Bolton slide into the lottery of the playoffs.

Carlisle at home to Harrogate at just under evens seems the only bet in this league for me today.

  7. Well after last nights result, depending on what Cambridge do away at Newport, Bolton have the chance to be top of the league tonight. Can they beat bottom of the table Grimsby after their sterling performance on Tuesday becoming the first team to win away at Salford this season. After their blip over Easter where they failed to beat Colchester and lost themselves away at Newport, they are in control of their own destiny in regards to promotion. Who would have though that 2 months ago.

Bolton away at Grimsby should win I think, but not sure at the prices and the fact they only seem to score once a game that it’s a bet for me.

In regards with today’s other fixtures after the last attempt with Tranmere, not sure I would like to predict anything, it’s that time of year when players are fighting for their careers. Will try Stevenage at home to Mansfield although they are the draw specialists. May also try Walsall away at Colchester at 5.30, with a new manager and only been beaten 4 times away from home (drawn 13) Colchester are fighting hard at the bottom and are better at home, so no great confidence in either result and may only play the 2nd if the first works out.

  8. Right after consideration I fancy both Tranmere and Morecambe to get some sort of result, but at 11/4 with Bet 364 or 14/5 with Paddypower going to try Tranmere away at Cheltenham, think will be a really tight game but just think there is a bit of value at the price. Tranmere have only been beaten three times away from home, they have draw 7 and only won 8 but with the home record of Cheltenham there is the possibility that 0 - 1 will be enough

What would the odds have been just 2 months ago when they were stood on the trap door, I'm guessing you could have got 50/1 against that, then.

Well what can you say, on the 18th February at 7.00am the morning after Bolton had come back from 2 - 0 to beat Mansfield 3 - 2, Bolton were 250/1 to win the league with Bet365.

I would agree that with most teams now having played 37 games and Bolton sit outside the automatic positions on goal difference only, that they have a strong chance to win the league let alone get promotion. Especially with the run they are on. Mind you they have some difficult games to come.

Tomorrow night Carlisle are at home to Crawley, if it was not for Crawleys recent poor away form I would probably back them to win against the downward spiral from Carlisle.

Good Friday sees Bolton at home to Colchester who are in no form, so think Bolton will probably win that one, only problem is Bolton always seem to win by the odd goal and don’t seem to be able to kill a match off. On the same day Cambridge host Morecambe and Cheltenham host Tranmere, both away teams could easily win these games, I think both will be very tight, but at the odds may well chance one or both come the time.

Will post nearer the time when I have had a proper look.

  10. Well Bolton got the job done, if a little fortunate after going behind. Bradford was a bore 0-0 draw, thankfully Port Vale got the job done. Half a dozen games Tuesday night. Can’t let Tranmere go without a bet, being offered at 13/10 or 11/8 away at poorly Colchester. Tranmere chasing a promotion place and are in good form themselves and are indeed the last team to beat Bolton 12 odd games ago.

Forest Green are away at Mansfield Tuesday and then potentially a decent game against Bolton on Sky. Not sure who will want that more or if a draw might be the more likely outcome.

Skybet 7 places only offering 50/1 Regal Encore will take SP 1pt E/W hoping for 66 or 80’s. Especially with a couple of horses which appear to be overly supported.
